    Aye, you’re probably right.

I just think a lot of our failings come from lack of creativity out wide.

Lazio away in particular. We didn’t play well, but we played through the lines plenty, especially in the first half.

Ball went wide, either got lost immediately or played back instantly. Even with Abada in the team that will still be the same. His strengths are more his anticipation and late arrivals in to the box. More like a second striker really.

No doubt the keeper needs improved on though.

    * you're right. Keep forgetting about that.

    Ok, in order of importance

    1: LB
    2: Striker
    3: DMC

ALL quality goods. No * bargain bin or some assembly required.

    * no chance the club would also spring for real quality in GK and RW there too, not in the winter window.

So those three, I'd be "happy enough".

I'd agree but I can see Abada going.

    I think he's gone too.

Know nothing for sure, but he's a very "religious" Israeli. Chances of him putting the fans support for Palestine in his rear view are low imo. Especially with the rabble rousing and nonsense from the likes of Biton and his absolute * of an international manager.

We'll try to sell, and if not, can see him loaned out back to a club in Israel.

This is where I mentioned earlier that I can see 1 player getting sold that effectively pays for the window as the board ensure we run as close as possible, balanced books.

Abada is the type of sale I can see happening to the right club and be around £15mill mark.

Some might say that is too much given his season thus far, but imo, we'd be robbed blind at that price for a guy who has the numbers he does.

Then we end up seeing GK and LB get neglected, buy a rando RW outta nowhere, some SPFL striker to cover Asia Cup (hands up, I genuinely would be happy with Miovski) and then a couple of central midfielder types where their positions are unclear so they get branded utility players.

I fully expect this Jan window to go even worse than the summer

Think Abada will be away also as could get a decent offer and for me he's more of an impact player from the bench so the money offered will be too good to turn down for that type of player.

GK , LB, RW and then a striker (could also fill in at wing to get them more game time).

Make no mistake the above players CANNOT be project players and need to be players who can jump straight in and look to improve us.

I'll genuinely be a little surprised if he ever plays for us again.

I'd be scunnered if Abada left. It's tragic, I've gone from six months ago thinking we should sell Abada and bring in an improved player in his position (and being confident we'd do that), to being desperate to keep him because if he leaves I have zero belief he'll be replaced properly.

Abada is a weird one for me. Firstly, I do think he will want to leave with the Israel/Palestine thing being a huge problem for him, as it would for most Israelis. However, I don't think Rodgers and/or the club will want him to go right now. There could also be a problem with who values him at what figure. I honestly believe we should be asking for £15m for him but I struggle to see us getting that for him when we know there is the personal issue between him and the clubs fans going on. His agent will definitely be leaking things to other clubs about his unhappiness with the situation. Clubs will definitely attempt to take advantage of that with low ball offers. Anything close to £10m and I would take, even though I think we should be asking for 50% more than that.

In the same breath, while I don't want him to go because I believe he's our best all round right winger, I think he's getting far better in the minds of people while he's out injured and we've had to watch Yang run around like a headless chicken for a few weeks. I wanted the RW position upgraded in the summer anyway, and I was ok about moving Abada on, provided we got the right fee for him. I still believe that we could replace him with someone better.

GK needs addressed but I can wait until the summer for that if they know who they want.
LB needs addressed NOW. No waiting, get a player in for that position as urgently as possible.
DM needs addressed but again, I'm happy to wait until the summer if need be. Not like we will need one for the domestic games and I think Iwata could deputise in there with ease, to be honest.
CM Just need more creativity in there for me. Turnbull is slow, Hatate will be away, Holm needs to kick on. Yeah, push McGregor further forward and play Iwata but we need another midfielder in. Especially with Tunrbull being away in the summer.
RW/ST Depends on whether or not Abada moves for me but I think many of us have been calling for a player who can play across the front 3. Mmaee was obviously mentioned for a couple of years but a player like that should be the priority if Abada doesn't leave. Yes, we need some cover up front with Kyogo and OH away during the Asian Cup but I don't think we should be spending £4.5m on someone like Miovski. I can see why we would want to loan in someone like SVH... he would be exactly the player I would want.

For me, a LB and a CM are absolute priorities this window and I would like to see us go all out and bring in a couple of players who will really excite the fans.

If Abada leaves, definitely a RW and again, I would like us to spend big. Definitely a Striker for at least 6 months. SVH on loan with an option to buy would be great business.

    January

    LB, CM, ST(Loan)
    RW- If Abada leaves

    Summer

GK, DM, Replacements for 1st team leavers.

Miovski does look a good player. Bit of a no brainer to get him in the door

Brendan Rodgers insists Celtic "might have to" do some work in the January transfer window to sign a forward if certain players are called up to play in the Asian Cup.

Kyogo Furuhashi, Oh Hyeon-gyu, Daizen Maeda and Yang Hyun-jun have all had recent caps for their countries and could play in the January tournament.

This would leave the Scottish champions without a recognised striker after the winter break but Rodgers says the club are prepared for all eventualities.

He said: "Obviously we have been trying to anticipate the guys over the last few months who are going away to the Asian Cup so clearly if Daizen [Maeda] and Kyogo [Furuhashi] are away then we would have to do something in the market."

Meanwhile, Rodgers revealed he is in the market for a striker in January – with Kyogo, Daizen Maeda and Oh Hyeon-gyu set to miss a chunk of games while at the Asia Cup. Celts are understood to still be tracking £8m-rated Brondby ace Mathias Kvistgaarden and have also been linked with Aberdeen’s Bojan Miovski.

Rodgers remained tight-lipped on targets but admitted he is on the look out for hitmen. He said: “You first look within the club and if there is anyone who can make that step into the first team.

“Then you look at if you bring someone in a permanent role, someone who can challenge the guys when they come back. Or are you bringing in a top class loan, who will be with you for that period? That is then about availability. You have to plan forward. There are certainly names and interests there.”

That's 4 games possibly and a 5th to let them rest of they get to the final. That will just lead to fixture congestion.

I believe the rules are that games can only be postponed if a team has a minimum of 4 players called up for international duty. So it is a possibility to get them postponed if all four of Kyogo, Maeda, Oh and Yang
get call ups but wouldn't rely on that happening.

Thing is we have no European football after Christmas so we should be able to fit them games in.

Brendan Rodgers insists he won’t be sending any of his unwanted Celtic players to Coventry.

But the Hoops boss admits a host of squad stars are living on borrowed time and will be offloaded in January to make room for new recruits. Rodgers has spoken about the need to shrink his first team playing staff to around 25 with the likes of James McCarthy, Yuki Kobayashi Maik Nawrocki, Alexandro Bernabei and and Gustaf Lagerbielke all surplus to current requirements. The Irishman believes tough love is the best policy for players with no future with his club.

He said: “I care for players but I care for people more. Sentiment doesn’t come into it. You are paid to make decisions, lead and observe - and make decisions from that observation. You can’t be sentimental. It’s an ongoing conversation as silence for a player is a death sentence. I have had experiences outside of football where you mind plays mental gymnastics and you think, ‘What’s happening?’

“When you hear nothing, the brain starts talking. I’d rather take all that away and give stability and clarity to a player.

“I’d say, ‘This is where we are at, if it doesn’t work out you can move on’, but I will always respect them. That is a value I hold dearest of all.

“Wherever you sit in the hierarchy, you will always be offered respect. Train hard and work hard, and let’s see where it takes us.”

Rodgers insists he’d never soft-soap his fringe players about the reality of facing the exit door but it’s a brutal part of his role to take the Dear John approach to players who won’t feature in his team. He said: “”It is something that is difficult but it’s part of this job as a manager. You have to do it.

“But you are better off being honest and telling people. It’s especially difficult because you know when you are telling someone it changes the conditions in their life, and not necessarily for the better.

“They might never have that opportunity again but I would rather say it than be inhumane and bluff someone for six months. You are better off telling them as they will have families and having moved all over Britain, I know how hard and challenging it is.

“Sometimes it can be for the greater good for the player as the family might not have settled or the schools might not be right. To tell them can actually help them, but it’s something that is a difficult conversation but you are better being honest.”
