I didn't think he'd be able to make the leap but I'd definitely take him. He'd get far more opportunities here than he does at Aberdeen.

We need a non-Asian striker as we'll lose both Kyogo and Oh to the Asian cup soon.

Young Brazilian left full back sounds exactly what we are looking for. Still playing for one of the smaller sides in the Brazilian top flight and is also called Rikelme (spelt differently right enough) but what could possibly go wrong.

In all seriousness he is a solid looking left back. Over 6ft, strong build, very quick, good in 1v1s both defending and attacking, has a decent strike on him and looks happy overlapping or underlapping a winger. Also happy to get crosses in from deep or from the byline.

He would bring much needed physicality to our team with some good attacking intent too.

The boy Lazio had on the right wing was one I flagged up on here a while back when he was at Midtjylland.

He wasn't elite or anything but he looks comfortable at that level and in the Europa league. How can we not spend to sign players like that? There is undoubtedly plenty of gems like that out there and a lot of them get name checked in this thread.

Arsenal ‘willing to listen to offers’ for Eddie Nketiah in January. Wonder if we could get him on loan for when we (probably) lose every other striker to the Asian Cup.

Nketiah?? They are off their head, and we absolutely should inquire.

A few players worth a look for problem positions

    Goalkeeper

Amir Saipi, 23 year old all round good goalkeeper, good handling, reflexes and decent as a sweeper keeper

Yahia Fofana, 23 year old playing in Ligue 2 for Angers. Similar to Saipi looks an all round good goalkeeper and solid option that wouldn’t cost too much.

    Left Backs
Rikelme I highlighted above would be my pick from here or Gijs Smal of Twente who has an expiring deal. Both offer more physical presence and attacking threat. Rikelme looks exactly what we need.

    All round Centre midfielders

Lucien Agoume, 21 year old French U21 international who has had two good loans to Ligue 1 but can’t get a look in at Inter. Would be an excellent loan to buy signing in Janaury. 6ft powerful centre midfielder with good passing range and ball winning skills.

Alex Robertson, 20 year old all action centre midfielder on loan at Portsmouth from City but his deal is up at the end of this season. He has basically been the Matt O’Riley in league 1 this season, he looks streets ahead of the competition and is impressive in all aspects of the game, good vision and passing, high energy, good pressing and reading of the game. Could be a bargain.

Marcel Hartels, 27 St Pauli, more of an out and out attacking midfielder but is absolutely flying in Bundesliga 2 this year leading the stats for goals from midfield, chances created and assists.

    Right winger

Personally I would love us to sign Alexander Aravena as I think he looks like a proper Jota replacement.

However another option would be Rodrigo Pineiro, 24 year old Uruguayan winger. Another winger with an eye for goal and plenty of flair.

One of two players I would take from Asia is Makoto Mitsuta from Sanfrecce Hiroshima, who looks more a Kyogo/ Hatate level talent than one of the flops.

    Striker
I have suggested Durosinmi before from Viktoria Plzen but I see he has been linked with a move to the Bundesliga so probably unlikely and or too expensive which is a shame as he is a Moussa Dembele type striker. Good all round centre forward.

One player who has caught the eye is Alexander Lind at Silkeborg who has had a great season so far. Is an old fashioned number 9 can lead the line and bring others into the game and can finish.

Another left field option is Erik Esposito who has been on fire for Slask Wrocław in Poland. A good all round centre forward again with a physical presence and an expiring contract so wouldn’t cost much.

I think we will have our work cut out getting a good striker in January.

He fits in that he's Scottish grown so would not take up one of the 17 open slots for European competition going forward as we have plenty capacity to play about with the 4 non club spots. He can score goals and is proven at the domestic level.

I don't think he'd want to come and be backup though and you'd have to pay a premium for him to get him away from hearts so it's not one I think will happen

Pretty sure he’s also a Rangers supporter. So they’d be more likely to get him.

I'd much rather Miovski over Shankland of we were to only look at SPFL strikers.

Miovski likely fits the bill as well in terms of board signing off on the deal financially. Which is why his type of signing would likely split the fanbase.

EPL fringe players? He's played 55 times for Arsenal in a season and a half. Sort of * fringe player is he?

He also made his England debut back in October.

Ehh I don't care much on who players supposedly support, I doubt he'd refuse on those grounds of we were to try and sign him

He hasn’t been playing recently and his manager is reportedly wanting to punt him. If that doesn’t meet your definition of a fringe player, then you’re ignorant of the facts.

Shankland homegrown though, which we do need to prioritise to an extent. Look at this year’s CL. Guys like Iwata being left out because we had to leave so many gaps due to lack of homegrown guys.
