Basically the better ones can get poached easy enough and end up easily at the likes of Bayern or Liverpool.

Sadly its likely to continue until we can get a proper platform for our B team to perform in. We absolutely need the B team to be allowed play in the league system proper as is common in many other countries.

If any player good enough to make it gets taken away for nothing before they ever actually play for us, is it worth spending money on the academy anymore?

Genuine question. I don't know much about these things.

Young lads being poorly advised.. players who think that are better than they actually are . This has all the hallmarks of dembele who thought he was gonna walk out of lennoxtown and sign for real Madrid.. olive branch needs to be extended there is still time surely to remedy this..

You do have to wonder if you are better going the Brentford route and just hoover up 16, 17 or 18 year olds.

He could have had a better chance if Ange was still here, as he should have had a couple of assists last season. But maybe Brendan doesn't rate him, and he will be further down the pecking order if we bring a quality wide player in.

I would have liked for him to break through here, but if he moves, I wish him all the best.

Yes, we literally cannot function properly in Europe without it. You'd lose 4-8 players by not having club/ association grown players and we cant be counting on other Scottish clubs to develop youth.

We need to present opportunities to our youth.

And if the board ate reading From a business perspective it represents massive potential for earnings as the outlay is low with massive profit potential given the additional challenges of Brexit

if he didn't sign a contract I can't actually imagine he would be played this season.

He would have zero chance under Ange after making it clear he doesn’t see his future here and won’t sign a contract. He’d have much less chance under Ange with that than with BR, BR if he needed to would play him, and try and sweet talk him into his view of things. Ange was more of a straight * you as soon as any interest was shown away from us, to much better players like Jura and GG. He wouldn’t for a youngster.

Doak was 50/50 and unsure and Ange believed in him that he’d earned chances on merit, he got on in Europe, against the Huns because he believed in him and he was unsure what the best option was. Then Klopp talked to Doak, Ange said ok and made no more attempts and didn’t try and play him when it became clear he was going to desperately change his mind.

Ange was * ruthless with not caring how good you were, you’re here if you want to be and * off if you want to.

And Vata wants to * off. And Rodgers clearly has a similar view, which means he doesn’t think he’s got the potential for him to try and chat him up as being in the right place.

Personally with the amount of links he’s had, his old boy being quite a popular player agent, he’s been tapped up and knows where heMs going already

I stand corrected. I never knew he wanted away so much. In any case, probably the best for all parties as he could potentially have been 5th choice when Abada is back, assuming we are looking for another wide player as well.

Shame to lose him, there's a real talent in there, and quite possibly, a real special player.

But I'm a Postecoglouian. Don't wanna be here? * away off then. This Celtic, I'm not gonna pat your nose and tell you you're my favourite mare in the stable.

That being said, we definitely need a better route for our youth to develop. It looks like it's getting harder and harder for these kids to break through.

My issue is that we'll lose a player like Rocco for * all, then two years down the line sign someone with his exact same profile and stage of development from another spfl club. Or maybe Korea FFS.

Yang has looked a great development player, but was their really any need to sign him with Rocco sitting there idle? Maybe, given the boys apparent willingness to leave, but then again, if Rocco had played the amount of minutes Yang has this season he might have considered staying.

We already knew Vata wasn’t signing a new contract, and Yang had the experience of playing in a professional league comparable to the SPFL outwith us and the Scum, and had won PotY.

And he cost pennies. It’d be criminal to let that go by at that point, because he’ll be on very little money as well. He also was supposed to be behind several players like Abada and Maeda and needed to play more through circumstances but he’s shown enough for us to see he has something to be built upon there. Decision making mostly for Yang and that can be taught, his natural ability can’t.

Vata start of last year should have been loaned to Championship or League 1 when he proved at 16 he’d adapted to playing against men and the physical side in the highland league. Soon as that happens, loan out up a level or two. By 17/18/19 for players like him I want 150 games under their belt to come here and step up. And if they prove they can deserve a place before that amount of games in pre-season. Good, thats the point. Calmac had 40 odd down south and that made him.

Sadly I don't see it happening, if he's not extending with us he's not getting a chance, it's a shame, he looked quality last season and in pre season, is the standout player in the B team and we're short in his position. He should be getting game time just now but he's not and I dint think he will at all, it'll be another case of letting our better youth talent away for peanuts before even getting a chance for them in the first team.

Juventus and AS Monaco have joined a list of European heavyweights interested in taking Rocco Vata off Celtic's hands.

The youngster, 18, has a list of potential suitors ahead of the January transfer window and possibly beyond that in summer should no deal be struck in that time. Football Scotlandcan reveal the two clubs have both scheduled talks with Vata's representatives for the coming weeks as they seek a cut-price £340,000 deal in cross-border compensation.

Football Scotland understands there has, despite some previous reports on the contrary, been no new contract extension tabled by Celtic for the playmaker. And that points to an exit being likely in the coming months.

Both Monaco and Juve had members of their scouting teams watch Vata in recent fixtures where he played for Republic of Ireland's under-19s in a 3-1 win over Albania as well as Celtic's Premier International Cup tie vs Brighton where he scored at the Amex

Vata has been on the fringes of the first-team at Parkhead this campaign so far but has shone with their B team. The attacker has 14 goals in 16 games in all competitions for club and country and has been the standout within the academy.

He's yet to feature under Brendan Rodgersbut does have four first-team sub appearances under his belt in total as well as having been named on the bench for Rangers clashes in recent years.
