Yeah I agree with that. For the most part he's done as well as he can in the CL this season tbf to him. The red cards and clumsy mistakes at key moments can't be laid at his feet. Maybe summer transfer window can but that's another discussion.

Cue the “it’s a young squad who are still learning …” drivel. Repeat repeat ad nauseam.

Every European game now, just keep coming back to the same question - why did he come back(or why did we want him back)?

I just don't get it at all.

He heavily suggested he was back to advance in Europe - but we didn't invest in the squad at all for that to happen.

We didn't even invest in the squad for the style of football he plays.
Not like it was a surprise what his style was, we had him for the best part of 3 years already.
Any sort of conversation with him before signing should have involved acknowledging the style of play he intended to play - we've not even bought players in that suit that.

Genuinely don't understand why he's back here or what our goals and targets are with him.

Only thing I can think of - the board and lawwell wanted to attempt to * off the fans as much as possible by hiring him again, knowing he would split opinions at first and then not back him and * us all off again.

The thing is because most of the games have been 'tight', and because our transfer window was so disastrous, he won't be getting any flak from the supporters.

But he isn't the right man in charge for me. We're so uninspiring to watch, irrespective of our quality. It's the same in Scotland. His record in Europe is one of the worst for a manager. We are awful going forward and still * defensively. That's at least 3 games we've had now where we could have went on and won. Yet he's done nothing to change the flow or outcome of a game in our favour. Zilch.

He signs dross and doesn't seem to want to rock the boat at all in terms of bringing actual quality in. I don't buy this he's been * over by the board pish. He knows the club, he knew what he was walking into. I just don't think he cares that much, he's getting paid handsomely enough to just sit by and let it happen.

His morals are highly questionable. I don't see him as this martyr that many others do.

He's setting us up how we should be in Europe and how I've wanted a manager to. Still in a game tonight after 80 mins.

Then moments of poor quality from our players.

It could be better domestically but we are still 8 clear. In Europe his tactics haven't concerned me at all.

And he said he hopes to get us to a European Semi Final. Never in a million years.

8 of his 16 UCL games came against Man City, Barcelona with MSN up front, PSG and Bayern Munich.

I feel that stat shown on TV needs to be explored a bit more.

Put Guardiola in charge of a celtic side with this board and he has the same record.

Things won't change if we get rid of Rodgers. They didn't change with Ange.

Dunno when folk will realise it's not the manager most of the time. The level of player we have is t good enough for this level.

Not entirely sure what people want from him.

Domestically, it could be better but we are 8 points ahead, having played all the tough away games already. He needs quality signings and fast.

To go back in time and not leave for Leicester, probably. That's what he'd have to do for some.

See, I have to disagree with the last point. He's trying to have us defend like Croatia in Qatar last year, by the looks of it (well, stats).

Loads of possession, yet very passive with it, and on the back foot.

    Here's the differences though:
    - Croatia have a midfield destroyer in Brozović, we are doing the equivalent of asking Modrić to do the brunt of the ugly work
    - Croatia's mentality is very strong, we have young, mentally weak players
    - Croatia lack pace up front, while we have loads and aren't forced by the roster composition to play like Croatia

Of course, there's the difference in overall quality, but the profile of the teams is different.

He's setting us up the best he can with what he has.

It's not his fault we don't have Brozovic or Modric.

I think this is it for most people. Not willing to let a Grudge from 4 years ago lie.

I think there's a general agreement the football isn't as good as last season, and bad transfer window or not, we should be beating Motherwell and St Johnstone at home comfortably.

It's also clear he wasn't backed in the slightest in the summer, Rodgers has always played with a system that has overlapping fullbacks, its essential, yet we have 3 fullbacks who cant overlap in the slightest.

No new GK or LB, a loaned CM from Benfica that was clearly just to appease the fans, losing Mooy, Jota and Starfelt. It hasn't been easy.

The January window will show us where Rodgers and the club stand. As poor as the huns are, not recruiting properly in January could cost us domestically.

I don’t blame him for tonight.

Ultimately the squad is needlessly miles off where it should be. It’s a conscious choice to chase profit.

It’s up to Rodgers to force the board to sign better quality players at the expense of profit.

I personally don’t think he’ll be able to do it.

It's very difficult to level any blame at him or for the whole campaign really we got skelped in Europe worse last year and Ange was universally praised the only difference being was the feeling around the club was different which is almost all related to the boardroom

He's also lost to Udinese, Anzhi, Zenit, Basel, Real Madrid x2, Zorya, Slavia Prague, Legia Warsaw, Napoli, Rennes and Roma at Liverpool and Leicester. Drew with a bunch of * in that time period too.

His record is undeniably poor in Europe across three clubs. Is it ever his fault? Are we still glossing over the fact we've been * domestically this season so far too?

Okay, Iwata might have been injured tonight*. But why not push McGregor up a bit, and let Bernardo do the running in front of the defense?

And the emphasis on possession just feels wrong, given whom we have up front. Our slowest forward player in the roster is Palma. And he's still agile enough. Croatia literally have no choice but to play passive possession football against better opposition. Okay, they can do hoofball to big strikers, who are aplenty.

Rodgers is setting us up according to what he likes, but it clashes with what we have. Nevermind that he's constantly saying he approved every signing, and is never putting the pressure on the board.

*he might've also been frozen out. * knows why. The only player who he's registered in CL and never properly tried.

Part is the style of play as well, from Deila to now which is 10+ years I think we have been a footballing attacking team set up to play our normal football home and away against everybody.

We'd probably have got better results by playing defensively, on the counter and even away just anti football sitting in. But then the thing is we'd probably have been worse in the League for 10 years as well as I think we are better in the League when we are used to playing our normal way against better teams and being more confident so one of those things thats hard to balance.

I've actually been surprised by how we've played in the CL this season, results horrific but the performances have been better than I thought. We've played with a lot of control and kept games close until red cards done us a couple of times. We've also been doing it with not the best team or bench, if we were closer to full strength and a couple of things never went against us I think we'd have done quite well.
