Man knows what he wants to do with the team/squad. Will need to be managed over a few windows but every faith in him to get us there.

I like him, I'm happy he is back etc etc

But honestly, he's a fool if he believes he will get real quality in come January or even summer.

Its not gonna happen and I'm afraid to say, come February and then again September next year, we will be in the same * poor situation and he will only have himself to blame for allowing it.

This ain't meant to come out as being against him, far from it. Just feel he's saying enough to encourage the fans to think quality will come in, but managing it as well knowing fine well it won't.

He apparently stated no players have been forced on him and that he has the final say on whether a player that has been identified should be signed. Yet Kwon hasn't really been given a proper chance.

Heard it a million times before. We heard it about 6 months ago when he came back.

Will believe it when I see it. For definite this time.

Brendan Rodgers has assured Celtic fans he is in charge of the club’s signing policy - and has no plans to bring in any more ‘project players’ when he splashes out in the January sales.

Rodgers was back behind the top table at the club’s AGM yesterday for the first time since his return to the hot-seat in the summer. And the Irishman faced a barrage of questions about the club’s recruitment strategy which is headed up by Mark Lawwell – son of chairman Peter Lawwell. At one point chief executive Michael Nicholson revealed that Lawwell Jnr had been personally handpicked for the role by former boss Ange Postecoglou.

And Rodgers, who has thrown a number of young, untested news boys into a bruising Champions League campaign, insisted he will be personally responsible for any signings made for as long as he remains the Parkhead club’s manager. Speaking after AGM he said: “Listen, it’s something that’s natural. People will always wonder, especially when we’re a club that doesn’t have a director of football or sporting director.

“But it’s really no different here to most clubs. We identify the profile of the players that we want. The recruitment team then scythe that down to a certain number. Then it comes forward to me to decide on the best ones to bring in.

“And if none of the three are to the level then we don’t bring them, it’s as simple as that. It’s pretty clear.

“And that was one of the things, before I came and then when I came in, I needed clarity around that. The club’s strategy is to bring in young players and we have done that during the last window. The likes of Yang Hyun-jun and Odin Thiago Holm will show up very well in the future.

“But I have also said, strategically, that we need quality. And that’s something, hopefully, over the coming years we can improve on.”

Asked about his plans for the winter transfer window Rodgers went on: “The notion now is to make sure we bring in better. You can get good players in January. But it’s availability and affordability.

“But there is no doubt that if we’re to enhance the squad in January then we’ll need to bring in someone who is going to improve us.”

Rodgers, though, did admit he will be leaning on young Lawwell to help identify the top targets.

He said: “My job is to manage and to coach. With the greatest respect, the modern day manager does not have the time to be going around and sitting in stadiums looking at loads of games. That’s not the job. So that’s why you’re reliant on the recruitment team.

“Yes, of course there are certain players who you know and can bring in. But, in the main, the targets will come from the football club - and then I will choose. And it’s only right that I do.

“I’m stood on the sidelines so I take the responsibility for the players and the team when it’s out there. So it’s only right that I have the final say on the players coming in. There were some who were nearly over the line when I was due to come in. So I trust the progress.

“Some of the guys we brought in, I can absolutely see why they were coming in. But going forward it has to also be about quality. And that’s something we’re all aligned with. So it’s all very clear.”

BRENDAN RODGERS insists Celtic’s board can’t back down in a stand-off with the Green Brigade just because the controversial group create a good atmosphere.

The ultras are banned from the stadium over allegations of serious misconduct at games.

Hoops chiefs have taken season tickets off 276 members of the group after repeated warnings were ignored.

Green Brigade organisers are now planning a ‘day of action’ ahead of the home league clash with Motherwell.

Rodgers hopes a solution can be found — but claims Celtic chairman Peter Lawwell and chief executive Michael Nicholson are right to stand up to them.

He said: “It’s all about values. It’s the bigger picture, the values of this club, which are about respect, integrity and everything else. That far outreaches anything else, and if those values are compromised in any way, then we the club will look at that.

“If people are deemed to have misbehaved, you can’t go along and accept that just because it makes the atmosphere better.

“We all live to certain values, and I hope we can find a solution because the fans have created a really good atmosphere.”

The Hoops have been hit with repeated Uefa fines for fan conduct in the stadium’s North Curve section.

Earlier this week, they were ordered to pay £25,000 for breaches at the recent Euro clash with Atletico Madrid.

Passageways were blocked and flares set off, with supporters waving Palestinian flags despite club appeals.

Rodgers added: “My personal view is it’s not a political arena.

“Football is football, you come to support the team, and enjoy the team playing. Especially when we play like we did against Aberdeen.

“Hopefully we can get a resolution, but meantime, we will stay focused. The narrative can sometimes be built around us not being together. It’s not the case.

“We’re in a great place as a club and as a team.”

Rodgers admits Celtic Park’s atmosphere isn’t as good without the Green Brigade, and says even in his side’s 6-0 thrashing of the Dons he noticed a lull.

He said: “I think the team were brilliant, because there was a funny sort of atmosphere.

“From a football perspective, we’ll continue to concentrate.

“The club are working with the different factions of the support.

“We know 99-odd per cent of support is with the team and there is this little side issue I hope we can resolve sooner rather than later.

“We’re obviously much stronger as a force when everyone is together. Let’s see if we can resolve it.

“The players can’t be doing any more.”

He's got this window, and this window only, to prove that a. He's not a lame duck manager. And b. He can be trusted in the market.

This is a MASSIVE window for Rodgers. We got all the excuses of the day from him and board for the last window, he's come out now and said he's in charge , and he wants quality.

As Sutton said in his article, he'd have been better keeping his mouth closed. Because if this window goes * up he's the one who's gonna take the hits.

    Dross so far.

Stale, predictable and boring. His return has been a mess to this point.

I've defended him before tonight, and I still think the run we went on before the break was good, but dropping 4 points at home at this stage isn't acceptable.

The St Johnstone and Motherwell games are the likes in which we should look to extend our goal difference, not drop points.

We should be 7 points clear at least at this stage, but unless the sheep do us a favour tomorrow our lead is effectively cut down to 3.

It's not good enough, I get we'll drop points over the course of the season, but it's the manner we're dropping points.

He needs to sort it out and fast. Any goodwill he's garnered since his return is slowly evaporating.

I want Rodgers to succeed as he's at the helm but to allow the huns back into a title race is * atrocious.

Never should have been brought back.

Totally opposed to his reappointment, and NOT on his previous jump ship antics. Merely his deficiencies as a manager.

Poor transfer record, abysmal European record, and his two year honeymoon goes to absolute * at EVERY club he's been at.

This is Lennon all over again. I wouldn't be surprised to learn he got his contract in the shower of his holiday home.

    He's in big * trouble .
