What is true is it will be better for The Netherlands to qualify but that is going to happen whether Ireland beat them 5-0 or lose to them 5-0.

 

Go onto wiki site for the nations league part of euro qualifiers.
It shows that Ireland can still qualify through nations league playoffs.

Yeah I know we can still qualify. I have also acknowledged I 100% agree that The Netherlands finishing above Greece will aid this. However the bit I am calling bullshit on is "Ireland need to lose to The Netherlands as it won't a blind bit of difference whether we do or not with the way the group is now and unless I am missing something that is actually borne out by the two links you have put up.

On a more positive note tomorrows FAI Cup Final between Bohemians and St Patrick's Athletic looks like it will be the highest ever attended domestic football match since Irish independence with a crowd of close to 50,000 expected tomorrow. Hopefully the game itself proves to be a good one and goes to show the government and others that if you invest in at least decent facilities for our domestic game that there is a league there that could grow into a real positive for the country as a whole not just from a footballing sense but also from a community standpoint as well.

For sure. Just made the qualification all the sweeter. I remember for all the hate spewed forth before and during the game from the 6 county bigots their captain Alan McDonald on the night showed his class when he came into our dressing room after the game to congratulate us on qualifying and saying go on and represent the island well at the finals.

 

Never knew that!

 

Yes I remember Niall Quinn talking about it in an interview and how classy Alan McDonald was.
