Think as well many see through what this has become in this country. It is not to remember the fallen from all nations in the world wars. It’s been latched on to by groups that are abhorrent

I don't know one single Celtic fan that doesn't see through all the bullshit, Brit propaganda, poppy fascism and all the rest of it. You can't NOT be aware of it as a Celtic fan. Just so happens that a lot of folk do feel the need to pay their respects for their own legitimate reasons, and I've come to believe in my auld age that that should be respected in and of itself.

It doesn't mean I personally would buy/wear a poppy or even observe a silence, or deny anyone's right to protest the silence, I just find mass booing unnecessary. Only an ignorant * would try to accuse me of being a Brit sympathiser taking all this into account.

It's not difficult Sean, basically if people want to use the time to gather their thoughts and pay respects to something that affects them personally, it's snide as * booing in their ear. Doesn't mean you need to observe it yourself, just be a half decent * and give them their moment.

And apologies if you took offence to what I said the other day, maybe I over reacted, but you were being a * so I told you. Life goes on.

It's not snide as *, though. What you are essentially saying here is that not observing the silence is interfering with your right to observe it. It isn't. You can go right ahead and observe the silence while others make different choices.

Unless, of course, what you really want is not to personally observe the silence but for Celtic Football Club to be seen to observe the silence.

No am saying there's a difference between not observing a silence and actively booing a silence. If I had a grandparent killed in WW2 for example (I don't but for talking's sake), I'd not be arsed if folk were talking through it, but booing right next to me would * me off.

But there's nothing particularly wrong with it * you off: you can be * off. It is simply the truth that you can observe a silence (as is your right) while others around you boo it (as is theirs).

The only thing the booing stops you from having is for the Celtic fans as a whole to observe the silence; but you never had any right to demand that in the first place.

C'mon guys, the Huns have taken down the decorations and tidied up after their month long CELEBRATIONS of this year's "somber moment of quite reflection'. Surely we can put it to bed now for another 11 months. :50:

Christmas video is out. We can officially forget the poppies and love, hate, argue about this instead now.....

It's November FFS. What is wrong with people these days? Christmas is in December. November is for arguing about poppies and silences and for the obligatory CL humping.

See if you wanted to spend some time thinking about some of your loved ones killed in a world war ,why the * would you go to a football match instead of doing that

    Mr Pedantic as always :giggle2:

Suppose it comes down to how much you value being respectful to others, I know it's not an overly popular trait in this world.

OK, so you think it's pendantic. I think it's quite a meaningful and important point personally.

Regarding respect, AFAIK, it's not like sections of the support are organising a minute's booing every year and forcing that on others; instead, they are responding organically to an annual attempt to impose a silence they don't agree with. This imposition is the initial act of disrespect by the league.

Ultimately, all parties have the right to express their political opinions. If the league want to have a minute's silence, it has the right to do that; but it also has to accept that others might want to respond and that they have this right.

If they want to have an uninterrupted silence, then purely on a practical level, it should be a good 20 minutes before the game. Anyone who really wants to participate can come early. This is much fairer than asking fans who don't agree to wait outside like second-class fans and risk missing part of the game.

Good to know you're in favour of people's moments of grief and reflection being disrespected mate. Not for me but each to their own.

I'm not in favour of that. I'm sure you don't really think I'm in favour of that. As you know, my point was that these things mean different things to different people. You only need to read leeso ardoyne's posts on what the poppy means to him to see how trying to impose the observation of such things can also be a form of disrespecting people's grief.

I really doubt anyone is booing anyone else taking a minute for quiet reflection but rather the annual attempt to impose this ritual on the Celtic support as a whole.
