So you can't explain why the shower thing actually matters then. Sound. :56:

Are you really asking me to explain how Lawell has a say in money we spend on the squad and budgets??

I mean if you are then I don't think I can help you mate.

He is one of the most responsible for our current state in Europe. He's not the only one but has a major doing in it.

The reason the showers are always brought up when people talk about the reappointment of Lennon is because it shows how desperate the board were to get it announced while fans were still celebrating the treble treble.

They knew it was a lazy decision that people would be angry about, so they got it all signed and announced right after the final whistle while fans were in a good mood.

There's also the funny image of Lennon trying to sign a contract while he was standing in a shower as well.

That's a theory, but who cares really? With hindsight it was happening regardless. I get people questioning the actual appointment, but where it was verbally agreed is irrelevant.

No, I'd like to know the implications of P. Lawwell in terms of the results in Europe.

I asked a fairly simple question based on what you posted.

If you're unable or unwilling to answer it, then stop wasting both of our time.

Yeah, me too.....I mean, he was CEO for like forever, he was well known for micromanaging everything at the club, he was employed to downsize and made no secret of that fact, Martin O'Neil actually warned us to "get ready for life in the slow lane" when speaking about him, he's been front and center of every communication that's came out of Celtic Park for most of the 21st century, he was defacto director of football for years, he headed up all our transfer negotiations, he was reputedly involved in identifying potential signings , he was responsible for player contracts, he was the loudest voice when setting transfer budgets....... So, err, how can he be in any way responsible for our performance on the pitch ???

It matters because it sends out the wrong message to any potential managers in the future or agent that we will be dealing with. If we were appointing a manager in this fashion, I think it’s fair to assume we were equally as unprofessional when it came to transfer dealings.

Wee example as to why things like this matter by the way. You may have already heard the story. It’s from Scott Brown when he was deciding whether to join us or them. We took him to Desmond’s house and acted in a totally professional manner. The huns took him to a car park and conducted the meeting in the back of a motor. He talks about this being a reason as to why he chose us. So that’s why the shower thing matters. If you act tin pot, you will get treated as such.

If you think that’s perfectly fine to act and conduct business in that matter then more fool you I guess.

As funny as the image is he didnt actually sign anything in the showers.

They announced he was offered the job after the game. He wasn't actually announced as manager until the following Thursday.
It took Lennon, a guy who had been sacked from Bolton and hibs 5 days to agree to it probably bcoz he had reservations about working under lawwell full time again.

It was the failure to back Lennon the first time that forced him out to go to the dizzy heights of Bolton Wanderers. He was never knocking it back second time after being chased by Hibs. Cheap option taken by Lawwell that ultimately ended in total disaster. A disaster which perhaps could have been avoided even if the board had taken action after the Sparta Prague gubbing, when if I removed correctly, we were still only 4 points behind in the league and it was crystal clear at that stage Lennon had lost it. Lennon should have walked away as well though after that I felt, but when he didn’t, Lawwell should have been taking that decision out if Lennon’s hands.

Lennon's biggest failing in my eyes is that he didn't squeeze the board by the balls and demand they appoint him on his conditions, and seek written assurances of not having everything ruined by another firesale in case he managed to get European results. They would have had to either give in, or appoint...who? John Kennedy?

Didn’t matter to Howe, Ange, or Rodgers. Won’t matter to any future manager either. You’re clutching at straws. :56:
If I’ve heard that story before I’ve forgotten it, but that is a * terrible example if it’s true. :56:

I’m not for one second believing being shown a fancy house is why Broony chose us, rather than football and financial reasons. :56:

Added to that, Lennon was already familiar with the role and Broony was a new signing we’d have been trying to impress.

Rodgers was hired before the “shower” incident, and was then re-hired when Lawwell wasn’t involved. I think it’s fairly common knowledge that Rodgers was Desmond’s man first time round as well. Ange was always jumping at the chance to manage here, we offered him a way to manage in England, which I’ve no doubt he would have had his sights set on when he came here. Howe knocked us back.

It’s not about being shown a fancy house. That’s completely missing the point. It’s about acting in a professional manner. Us taking Brown to that environment, compared to the back of a motor in a car park to conduct a very important meeting gives off exactly the right impression from us, and the total wrong impression from them. Just like hiring a manager in the showers give off the total wrong impression. Surely you can see that?

As I said, if Lawwell was prepared to hire a manager in that fashion having not considered all option available, I think that indicates perhaps why we have struggled to bring in some players required to take us forward in Europe. Maybe it’s not been down to the weather as you have spoken about before, but down to the total lack of professionalism within the club with Lawwell running the show.

Noone really gives a * about the showers thing. It was appointing Lennon without looking at other candidates that was the problem. As well as chronic failure to invest properly or progress in Europe. You seem to be trying to derail legitimate criticism of Lawell here by shifting the focus of the conversation onto an irrelevance. In fact, you seem determined to find any tactic you can to shut down criticism of Lawell in here, including making yourself the centre of the conversation.

Perhaps spend some of the money we have in the bank then to bring in a higher calibre if player, that could perhaps take us forward in Europe. Guess what comes along with progression in Europe. Money. The money for even a win in the CL is ridiculous as well. Which with a bit of investment in the summer, would have most certainly been achievable. We are whipping boys again however in Europe, wondering what if.
