Lower league teams in England take scalps against top clubs but they wouldn't survive in the top flight but Las Palmas beat Atletico so we should be doing better?

That's the biggest win for Atletico in the champions league since they have been in it ..utter humiliation for us yet again ..can we shove there invite next year and ask to be put into Europa league new set up ..we would still struggle in it to be honest but I think we could maybe try compete in that ..

One thing to remember is that Atletico Madrid are an excellent team.

Don't think Maedas sending off made much difference to the eventual points count, just the score difference.

Did you watch our games last year? We were well beaten in all but the Shakhtar games and we'll never get an easier team in the CL than that one yet failed to beat them. Rodgers got 3 points from each campaign (tough groups too!), Ange got 2. Maths.

 

The only interest I have in the CL league now is seeing who beats those cheating Spanish *.

 

No. My point is simply that beating Atletico is far from impossible. So long as you get the basics right.

 

I know this idea has been worn out over the years, but I'd honestly prefer to see us playing top teams from Denmark, Norway etc in an "Atlantic league" than remain part of the corrupt SPFL and UEFA set ups.

We're held back by being too big for Scotland, competing against a team whose fans are still in the 18th century, with masonic referees trying their best to make it a contest every year, and are complete minnows in CL, and the gap is getting wider by the minute as TV wanks itself silly over the same teams always getting to the CL latter stages.

 

I also think Ange got his tactics wrong against Leipzig FWIW. That can happen, though. They were a * good team. Rodgers has made mistakes like that too in the CL. They are both great managers, but they're not Harry Potter.

 

Only for you it seems. My point is simple. Beating Atletico(or any quality side) is far from impossible as long as you get the basics right. We don't and haven't in Europe for a long time.

 

A nightmare to watch that hammering . We must do better on the discipline side of things , we're not street wise compared with our European opponents . I expected us to lose tonight , but as soon as we lose a player I just knew the game was gone .

 

The problem is how to do that and keep the tradition of a sizeable away support, though. We'd lose a lot if we lost that.

Yeah, I agree, it's not perfect either, but if nothing changes, nothing will ever change. We can go on about investment etc, but we're nobodies in the european game with the paltry amounts we have to spend, and a constant flow of our best players out of the club. A bit more investment we could have afforded wouldn't have made a dent in that CL campaign. A huge investment might result in one decent season, but we don't want to go the way of Rangers (1872-2012) trying to compete. Sorry if that sounds unadvernturous or "backing the board". We're all fed up tonight

 

They're all * good teams, sometimes we forget that

 

It doesn't matter if LP only won 1 out of 20 against Atletico. They beat them only days ago. Not hammered 6-0. Actually beat them. I don't know if they were lucky and even if they were it doesn't matter. They got the job done.

 

Fed up hearing the “we were unlucky” or “we should have more points” bottom line is, as a club we show zero ambition and get what we deserve. The players we buy are not good enough to get us out any CL group, it’s not their fault, just the opposition in the CL is greater than the talent we have. I’m beginning to hate the board. The fans are the only ones who deserve better.

 

At 2-0 the players chucked it, mentally. A * embarrassment of a performance.

We have lost late goals just before half time and just before the end of the match, in nearly every game, zero concentration levels..

 

The biggest frustration for me is that from the CL team last year replace Jenz with Scales, Juranovic with Johnston and Jota with Palma. Everything else is the same. We weren't good enough last year. How can we expect to be this year with a worse team and squad?

 

Literally beat Real there 3-1 this season. They're a serious team.

 

That excuse only comes out when we lose heavily.
