NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! That is so sad. Seriously, Wake is one of the reasons I became a Sox fan. On my first visit to Fenway he went the distance and over the years every time he pitched, I wanted to watch. Was fascinated by the knuckleball. I even remember him pitching for the Pirates in the NLCS around 90 or 91. Seriously, that sucks so much. My thoughts are with his family and former team mates, and the entire of Sox Nation. He did so much, not just for the Sox, but for the community and charities. He pretty much kept the knuckleball alive singlehandedly for 20-odd years. One of a kind.

    May he rest in peace.

I'm wearing my (or rather his) 49 tomorrow. Absolutely gutted.

He was a real workhorse and an all-round class act.

The Rockies did the same thing, all the way to the Classic in 2007 - til they came up against the Red Sox in the WS. :D

Meanwhile an all Texas matchup in the ALCS... I don't care who wins that, as can't ever support any team called R****** and no chance ever supporting the Astros, cheating *.

Just want whatever NL team that makes it, to win the Series now.

The Thing that hurt the Rockies was the fact that they swept their series so quickly they had to wait a week and a half before the Red Sox even finished theirs, if they didn't have that wait Colorado probably would have won their first WS

Didn't think it was possible to detest a team more than the Stinkees, but after that first WS run it's been nothing but loathe for that ballclub.

But that doesn't mean will be supporting the R****** either. The ALCS was a no-win situation... then again if the Sox aren't in it, I always support the NL team over the AL

Fair enough I don't like the NY rangers, not because of the name, I just don't like hockey lol, I usually don't like the texas team either because of George W Bush, but for once for me I felt anyone but the Houston cheatstros

If I was the D Backs I wouldn't be too down beat after game 1. I went to sleep after the first thinking this could be a bad night for them but the highlights showed that they should have won that. Most nights they would have.

Corbin Carroll Is going to be a superstar.

Problem for them is that García is inevitable.

Yeah, 6-5, making it a 1 run ballgame in extra innings in the end goes to show it could've gone the other way.

Lot of baseball to be played yet though, inlding for the series to move to Arizona.

Well Texas won their first ever World Series, Arizona's stadium has a pool and apparently they denied the Texas players from celebrating in the pool :56:

Remember John McCain having a * meltdown on Twitter when the Dodgers jumped in the pool? :56:

Anyway, we can now get on to the real important stuff... who is going to make Ohtani the richest sports star ever. Sadly can't see him playing day games at Wrigley next year.

I'll be amazed if its anyone not called Dodgers, Yankees, Mets or Giants that gets him.

The Mets and Giants are going into rebuilding mode, The Dodgers have tried to cut their salary because they are set to go to the top of the Payroll list along with the Phillies and Braves but like the Yankees the Dodgers can afford to operate at a loss, Realistically he wants to win a world series and the Yankees and Dodgers are the best places for him to do that and the only teams that can afford him and not put their club in massive debt, He already lives near LA but New York has a History of Japanese players and are the most popular American team in Japan so I would put money on either of those 2

I don't think you can count out the Mets just because of Steve Cohen. The team has more money than sense. He is a once in a generation player so they could look at it as an opportunity to rebuild around him. They already have Lindor for the rest of his career... Senga for another 5... Nimmo for 8... etc. Also MLB has only 2 of the top 10 prospects being pitchers. A Ohtani ain't going to hurt anyone.

The Giants I'm putting as an outside bet because of the Judge and Correa stuff. They looked to spend big and then it all feel apart. I think at a push they could get there and they are a west coast club. If they got an Ohtani it could attract others to follow.

I agree with the Yankees and Dodgers stuff as well. If It was George still in charge of the Yankees I think he'd move heaven and earth to try and get him. Hal, maybe not so much.

Just glad the season is over now. 2023 has been dismal for Red Sox, both on the park and off it and as if all that wasn’t depressing enough, it was capped off with the passing of Tim Wakefield. :(

Hoping for a much better 2024.
