Which is why I said it might.

No idea if a partial stadium closure is on the cards but do you think it would be worth it?

Well, maybe with more fan involvement, communication between fans and the board would be better..:yeltongue

I do agree the GB need to play it smarter at times, let's hope the board don't want to try and 'end' them but I do think PL would take pleasure in that if it was doable..

Hopefully it can get sorted as the division doesn't benefit anyone, especially the players on the pitch.. think the board and the GB are both guilty of losing sight of that at times..

The thing is, though, that the horror that’s taking place in Palestine needs to be highlighted as much as possible, and in as many places as possible - and considering our own history and our knowledge of oppression and tyranny it would be remiss of our club and it’s fans not to highlight this/show our support for Palestine.

If it highlighted that we stand firmly with the Palestinian people? Absolutely it would be worth it in my opinion. It would also highlight the hypocrisy with Uefa who have been more than happy to have Ukraine plastered over everything in the past 18 months.

Do you go to the games out of interest?

Touche :giggle1:... although tbf when one side just goes off and pleases themselves its difficult for it to be/get better.

It's pretty much doable at any time and has been but they haven't done that, so its a myth based on that. Although if no choice is left then it could well become a reality.

I've read this "need to play it smarter" comment a few times now JC and I wonder what exactly is meant by that ?
Because It sounds/looks like they should have kept their support for hamas quiet but surely the wider support deserve to know the position they have, do you not think ?

    Aye, season ticket holder mate.

My point would be at what point does the political stuff become detrimental to the team which, imo, partial ground closures would be, and is it worth it.

All this debate and arguments since the flags and ban, but in a few weeks, months or so, the GB will be back where they belong in the standing section and will continue to wave there flags and banners. That's the bottom line and reality of it and anyone thinks any different is deluded.

Celtic know banning the GB for good will have a negative effect in the stadium and could affect the teams performance so with that, they are stupid. They are just flexing the muscles but will see Sense soon enough and the Bhoys will be back where they belong.

The GB will win this wether Celtic and the minority supporters who want them banned like it or not. Time will prove I'm right

I hate this board more than anyone, but the Green Brigade simply do not help themselves.

They continually defy the clubs request to not use pyro as it can affect the health of people with respiratory issues. That alone is enough to see them banned.

In addition, the ‘Victory to the Resistance’ banner hours after women and children were slaughtered on the streets of Israel, is one the stupidest things I’ve ever seen, as was their blatantly obvious refusal to clarify their position in the statement they released.

I mean, that’s not an instinctive mistake. It takes time to think up and create a banner. Not once did they stop to consider their actions during that process.

The vast majority of their demographic is made up of daft wee guys that charge about thinking they’re gangsters that own the place.

Either the leadership are comfortable with this, or the process for becoming a member must be more stringent.

Aye, I mean play it smarter in general TT, especially around the safety issues as they seem to be quite black and white, although I would like to hear what the GB have to say in response to those charges..

In terms of the banner and the timing, think we can all agree it was at best stupid/inflammatory, but I don't think they support Hamas..

They do support the PFLP another prescribed terrorist group, who may be a lot more palatable than Hamas(secular, socialist etc) which again without getting into a 'one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter' debate.. leaves the club with no choice but to condemn etc..

So again, they need to play it smarter..

That’s very much up for debate given the timing, wording, and nature of the idiotic banner they raised, and their direct refusal to address the issue in their subsequent statement.

Aye, they could have clarified, they chose not to, which has left it open to debate.. that's why I said, 'don't think' but I guess only they know..

    Doesn't look legit..

However, I did meet a St. Pauli fan, well before the current crisis and was surprised to hear he and some of their fanbase, viewed us as a fanbase as borderline 'antisemitic'.. which I found surprising..

People defending the board over the fans probably haven't set foot in Celtic Park in years.

    https://celtictrust.net/celtic-trus...f-season-ticket-rights-for-the-green-brigade/

The Trustees of the Celtic Trust wish to comment on the decision of Celtic PLC to withdraw, for an indefinite period, the season ticket rights of a section of the Celtic support. From the information now available on social media, it is abundantly clear to us that this action has been motivated by the the flying of Palestinian flags at Celtic Park in protest against the continuing wholesale and indiscriminate slaughter of Palestinian civilians, including over 3000 children. This show of anger and solidarity with the Palestinian people was supported by thousands of Celtic supporters around the stadium and not for the first time. Why then was only one group singled out and targeted?

The facts, according to various communications from Celtic which are now freely circulating, are that the away ticket allocation for the Green Brigade was stopped because of alleged conduct issues at Feyenoord (19/9/23), Motherwell (30/9/23) and Lazio (4/10/23). The withdrawal of away tickets was not implemented for a full three weeks after the Lazio game for some reason, but we can only assume that this ‘punishment’ covered all the incidents up to that point.

After that point the only games we have had were the Atletico Madrid home game on 25/10/23 and the Hibs away game (for which this group of fans were not allocated tickets) on 28/10/23. Further, we know that there were no Celtic travel stewards in the Hibs ground so Celtic can have no credible information about any misconduct at that ground. And that leaves the Atletico Madrid game….

On that basis, the Trustees are concerned that the action by Celtic, given the timing, is either politically motivated or motivated by an unwillingness to stand up to UEFA. We stand with the Green Brigade in their calls to end the genocide in Gaza – as do hundreds of thousands of people across the UK and across the world – and we call on Celtic to restore the season ticket rights of the Green Brigade immediately pending refreshed and open dialogue with the Green Brigade and other supporters’ groups.

Further we ask Celtic to engage with all of the supporters’ organisations and CSCs on the issue of ‘offensive’ or ‘political’ displays with a view to representing those views to UEFA in the strongest possible terms.

Apparently it is legit. I know they have ties with Hapoel Tel Aviv as well. I'm not sure of the ins and outs of it (Not arsed either way tbf) but they defo don't hold the same views as a club

The Trust make some good points, especially around new and refreshed dialogue.. that's the key...

Not sure we can lump everything on the Atletico game though but they're right in the sense there would have been no ban without the flags and banners..

Just read the GB response it's not great I don't think especially the bit where they admit to basically going in to the stadium when they shouldn't and bypassing security but then deny 'breaking in'

I agree it's a * show but in a short space of time, the gb will be back waving flags and banners and all this will be forgot about. For what it's worth, they need to reel it in with breaking the safety rules but as far as goes with the flags and banners, I don't see anything wrong with it. So with that said, for those panseys that want them banned, be careful what yous wish for.

Without the GB, parkhead will be dire. Even with them it isn't what it used to be but if they are banned for good, it'll be a depressing place. Even that A.madrid game, I seen others say how the atmosphere was amazing. I disagree. I've been to better tbh. I remember where I was sitting there wasn't much of an atmosphere during long spells of the match. Remove the Gb and it wouldn't have been up to much because yous will be responsible for turning our stadium into just another * football ground like all over the uk

Yep sounded more entrenched to me and digging in could prove counter productive. Thing is the club holds all the cards they can simply refuse to let them in ever again! The club knows that there's a helluva lot more people waiting on season tickets than stand in that section. There's always rules whatever you join in life and sometimes they don't seem to be fair and more often than not there's consequences for breaking them. I think the club sees the GB as an irritant and may take the opportunity to shut them out altogether.

I like the spectacle they bring to the big games but contrary to what they and their supporters believe I don't think the place would be dead without them. Yeah it might go quiet for a while but we had a tremendous atmosphere in years gone by without organized groups.
