I would like to see us bring in 4 first team ready to walk into the side type players, absolutely no projects.

LB - Taylor is good enough in Scotland at times but this season has shown if he is not playing in Ange’s system he goes back to being mediocre.

Centre Attacking mid - we don’t have a maverick type player who is quick with quick with their feet, unlocks defences and is not scared to carry the ball and go forward. Another must buy.

We need another winger who has both pace and finally product.

Another forward in the mould of big Jackie is a priority too, we simply can’t go the rest of the season with OH as back up.

is this likely to happen? Probably not we will end up signing some * on loan or a Willio Flood type deal.

He’s pish too. Don’t want him near the side.

He isnt the answer either. Was given game time and failed to make an impact. We should be moving forward not backwards

Should just bring Giakoumakis back, and Oh as number 3.

Just bring back a player who wanted out because he wasn't getting enough minutes, to split even less minutes with a 3rd striker. Aye, that'll happen.

    Sorry.

Cannot agree with that. There are quite literally THOUSANDS of players out there, from so called "weak" leagues where we could do business.

Smaller European countries are just one example.

The notion that there isn't a better left back than Greg Taylor available , and decently priced around the 5m mark, in Poland, Hungary, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Romania, Hungary... * I could go on all day FFS, whose clubs wouldnt bite your hand off for 5m, is just nonsense.

    * me, you could give Shelby half an hour and a laptop and he could give you list of players at that price who would take Taylor's spot tomorrow.

We've proved time and time again that you don't have to shop in the "big leagues" for quality. But 9 times out of 10 you get what u pay for.

The problem is the * has fallen out of our scouting department, coupled with a board completely obsessed with risk mitigation.

We required Anges replacement to be a manager with good contacts and a head for transfers. Instead we got a yes man with a highly questionable, if not extremely poor transfer record.

The club needs to get it's * in gear pronto. Starting with this window.

Actually, * it. @Mr Shelby , gies a list of 5 left backs under 7m that we could * up that would instantly improve us in Europe.

    Gwon ahead son...

A left back is all that is on my mind in all honesty. Feel that we are quite strong in other positions. Maybe a CM if we dont have option to buy Bernardo. If he is loan only we should absolutely get a CM in that is ready for the first 11 straight away.

Also, we have a whole squad of players worth tons of money as they are young. I don't have any problems with buying players 27-28 years old in those positions.

I completely agree with the first part. I don't understand how people can't see what's going on at Celtic.

We're focusing on signing players that we think we might be able to flip for decent money in a few years. The actual focus isn't on the team or what it needs.

We made record income and had guaranteed UCL qualification yet we didn't sign a single player over the age of 23 (Except Phillips, 26, panic loan last minute).

By comparison, in recent seasons we signed Giakoumakis, Juranovic and Kyogo - all in their late twenties. And what happened?

    1. All made huge impact right away (GG unlucky with injuries first few months but even so his impact was league-winning difference).
    2. All contributed hugely to winning the league against the odds.
    3. 2 of 3 sold for modest profit after hugely successful spell, essentially making them free.
    4. Kyogo still here winning us huge matches.

Some of you need to wake up. Whether it's Lawwell actually driving things, the current strategy is a clear return to Lawwellism and it's going to cost us.

Under Ange, we finally saw what most of us have been saying for years now and it worked. It worked brilliantly. It would've continued to work. As soon as he's gone we've returned to our old ways.

Find it odd that he's coming out now (rightly) critiquing the amount of projects in the squad when we basically signed only projects over the summer. Surely this should have been a conversation they had before Rodgers came back? Getting a familiar iffy feeling about the transfer business.

Agree in the most part but not sure i would call Rodgers a yes man as he seems fairly honest in his press conferences

This is a fair point and I really like Palma, but we should have three quality wingers for two positions.

Maeda should be the back up striker, and fourth choice winger for the two positions.

Most domestic games, I agree; but I'd honestly have him as one of the first names on the team sheet against the Huns or in Europe (or anyone that isn't going to sit in a low block). He's been unbelievable. I'd probably go: Kyogo, MOR, McGregor, CCV, Maeda.... I rate him that highly in those games.

True but how much of a rarity is that signing? It’s like Dembele. The stars have to align for it to happen.

My entire point is people think we are just going to go out and sign players we need in January, we won’t.

Didn’t say they were unknowns as if the club and scouts didn’t even know them. Unkown quantities. At a point in their career playing for teams with lower expectations than us and us not knowing if they can make the step up. Both did. Some similar haven’t.

Good luck naming more January signings like them. Hatate is also an exception because the league is over in January. We could raid the J League again but * just moan about that. Getting quality from the continent is almost impossible.

We need to look at pre contracts and possibly loans to buy for out of favour players.

So two loans who we had zero chance of keeping. Not talking about loans as they aren’t going to strengthen us going forward. Irrelevant.

A loan to buy for an out of favour player which I’ve already said is an option.

Then three players going back as far as 2008. Thanks for proving my point.

We are talking about January mate. Teams don’t want to sell and this includes smaller teams.

I could give you a list of players that improve us but you’ve got the wrong end of the stick.

My argument is about the January transfer window being an nearly impossible time to bring in quality. Most managers tell you the exact same thing.

The Summer is where we will do our business.

This is why we struggle to keep quality depth. Players get unhappy and leave. Nobody wants to be 2nd choice in Scotland.

GG in particular was very badly managed.
