There genuinely was a time on here last year when many were arguing for GG to start ahead of Kyogo.

Was proved sticking with Kyogo was the right call but just fact he was thought of as being a proper challenger and a ligitimate option to start shows how far we have fallen in that position bcoz I don't even want to see Oh coming off the bench for 10 minutes when we are 3 or 4 up

Giakoumakis wanted to go because he wanted to be first choice (plus wage demands), and with Kyogo here that wasn’t going to happen. It’s not really on Ange at all.

I do think Ange used Giakoumakis and Juranovic to send a message tho.. if you don't want to be here you can go.. I think Rodgers for example would have managed that situation a lot differently.

Aye he did say he wanted players who wanted to be here. But Giakoumakis also wanted to be one of the top earners and I don’t think he was ever getting that here.

I think Oh was brought in because Ange needed an obedient no. 2. striker who would not rage and demand much. TBH, it'll be hard to find a target man who is good enough to push Kyogo, without the manager needing to start said target man.

He did say that but didn’t he start Edouard, Christie & Ajer when he first arrived even though they would of been clear that they wanted to go? I guess squad depth was a * issue when he first arrived

Don’t think he had much choice but to play them.

We could have rotated him and given him a wage increase. Goal scores are at a premium and we had a very good one and forced him out the door and replaced him with a project. Really poor poor management.

He wanted to go. There isn't really much else to say.

Nonsense, he could have been offered a payrise and more game time as he inarguably deserved both. It's not like he went on to a massive club, he took a sideways step, which says to me we could have appeased him if we wanted to. Was daft to let him go in the way we did, one of our biggest transfer errors and there's been a few.

I think if he had a run of games like GG did he would be doing well here BUT the fact of the matter is he's snatching at all of his chances and it's evident he's getting more and more frustrated.

I like him, I think his first touches and lay offs are brilliant and I like the fact he's not scared to get in and amongst defenders and put them off.

He desperately needs a goal but how long do you wait before you try and find a more reliable option.

I would personally stick with him, you don't get in a South Korea squad if you're *.

Why can people not accept the fact that he wanted to go? It's pathetic at this point.

He wanted to be first choice striker. He was never going to be first choice striker because Kyogo is a far better player. Therefore he wanted to move somewhere where he would be first choice striker.

It's really not that difficult to understand.

He went to the US because that was all that was on offer for him, except for Japan.

Testament really to where European clubs saw his talents, as two back to back seasons of goals would have you thinking he'd have a decent enough selection of teams in Europe to pick from... not major clubs sure, but enough where the moves would seem respectable.

He wanted to be main man so no amount of promising more time under being 1st in the pecking order was going to work for him and Kyogo rightly, was ahead of him.

Giakoumakis was good, but yet again seems to be a case of where fans hype a player to levels he was never yet, now they are gone.

I think the big man is just so desperate to show us what he (maybe) can do in the very short amount of time he has had on the field that he rushes things. I would love to see him given a chance to play alongside Kyogo to see what they can do and it would give us a different option up top.

If dropping AJ meant we can then drop Taylor and go with CCV, Phillips, Scales as a 3 which allows Oh and Kyogo to play together up top so we can see how it goes for a game, say, at home to a Ross County or St Johnstone... would you try it?

Maeda must be LWB in that case and Yang probably RWB, but yes, I would. Is AJ unavailable for the next game?

I'm just spit balling an idea because if we wanted to drop Taylor so badly given our exact current squad ability then to play a 3-5-2 which has enough creativity of individuals on the wings, it would mean AJ is also getting dropped is all.

I think he played RWB for Canada at times. But also, RCB.

It's not difficult to understand that every football club has players that want to be first-choice but accept their place within the squad. With players like Kyogo and GG, you rotate them and make it competitive for first-choice. With two games a week for most of the year, that's not particularly hard to accomplish.

The idea that GG was either determined to be first-choice bar none or get paid 40k a week comes from absolutely nowhere other than supposition. It's an assumption devised to defend what was a poor case of man managment and transfer business on behalf of our former manager, who a certain portion of the support would broker no criticism against.

GG very likely could and should have been kept on rather than ditched for buttons at the first opportunity.
