Again I'm a big fan if Taylor, gives 100% everytime he's on the pitch but at this level he's height and pace is exposed defensively. Going forward I think he's excellent, great eye for a pass but his main job is to defend and its just not good enough at CL level.

Garbage. Callum McGregor is right. Taylor was making the decision most pros would make - stay on your feet and don't dive in. If he tried to get that ball and didn't get there first he's either giving away a foul in a dangerous area or taking himself out the game. I think we should be asking how did a ball get across our area to the back post without being cut out.
At the pen he's unlucky. The guy gets his foot in between Taylor's foot and the ball when Taylor's already in the act of kicking the ball. It wasn't a rash tackle and I can't remember him giving away pens before.
Goals have to come from somewhere. Both ours came from our right. Does that automatically make their LB a * player.

Callum McGregor is doing what all good captains do. He is backing his teammate up in front of the cameras.

If he goes for the ball which is stacked in his favour by the way, he wins the ball and we aren’t having this discussion. The ball got across because our left back failed to cut the cross out which again he would have done if he hadn’t been indecisive. It’s a world class ball to the back post, which is what will happen if you give quality players time to pick out their man.

The penalty he gets done with a ball in behind. Which is a common theme at CL level. Then it’s schoolboy stuff poking his foot in when he must surely know he is then wrong side.

Taylor isn’t good enough for the level we were playing at last night. We knew that in the summer but decided not to replace him. So last night doesn’t come as a shock in all honesty. Lazio targeted his side also, as most teams do.

Thought he was great for the most part, when they changed to 352 they were overloading his side and he struggled a bit. For the pen it’s soft as * and just a split second, I’m still sure he got his toe onto the ball first.

That ball was there to be won all day.
He was at fault for their 2 goals and the one that got chalked off.
No way to sugar coat it.

Who cares? Our model is all about signing for cheap and selling for profit. Dembele, Edouard, VVD, Jota etc.

They all left after 2/3 years but what they gave us during their time was better than anyone else in their position over the last 15/20 years.

If we sign a better left back than Taylor and we sell him a year later for 3 or 4x what we signed him for, then that’s life. We just have to go out and get the next one.

What I mean is that any given time, we'll have very good players in some positions, good players in others and a few who are just OK. No point complaining about him until the window opens: he's doing his best and he's not actually that bad now (obviously he was at the start of the season).

It’s astounding how many can’t see this. Scales was nowhere near it and CCV didn’t even attempt to cut it out despite being close enough.

He freezes. He doesn’t go for the ball - he completely stops in his tracks. He might as well have not been there.

It’s absolutely fair to hold him responsible for both goals. And I like him.

Neither Scales or CCV are near it because it’s a world class cross. Which will happen if you allow top players time to pick a man out, like Taylor did.

He’s the best left back at the club that’s the problem and we did * all about it.

Tbf I thought it was an inch perfect pass and a terrific header to keep it on target.

Think there was little we could do there.

Taylor made a split second error when he didn't go for the ball after O'Riley slid in.

Made a point of watching GT at that goal after reading all this stuff in here about him being at fault etc. I actually can't believe so many people are laying it on him as if he made a royal * of it.

He's trying to limit angles for the guy with the ball, as well as be ready to track the winger if the ball gets played out there.

It's no secret that GT is limited in Europe, but the criticism he's received for that goal is way over the top imo.

Where was AJ? If that goal came from the other side and was scored at the back post on our left you'd be saying Taylor was at fault for not marking the scorer. Taylor just seems to be blamed whatever happens.

I've watched it back. I blamed him at first (for the 2nd) watching back I don't really. If he goes for it and doesn't get the ball they are clear on. Yeah they score anyway but hindsight is a wonderful thing. He plays safe option and sadly it doesn't work out. If it was anybody else I don't think they'd get the same level of stick. He seems an easy target from our fans

It’s not a case of blaming him regardless. It’s his fault. He started to go for the ball, then changed his mind. Had he continued to go for it, he wouldn’t have even had to dive in, he would have beat Llorente to the ball.
