Thought he could have turned and tried to play forward instead of a sideways or backwards pass on a couple of occasions but was one of our better players.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t see the great performance some did. I thought he was ok, but I don’t think he got on the ball enough, and when he did, I felt he was too negative at times with his pass. I don’t think he drives us forward as well as he used to. Which is only natural as he is getting older. We are screaming out for a holding midfielder though, as we have been for a number of years. Someone to do the donkey work, break up the play and then give it to McGregor. That’s been getting said for years now.

I really don't see the great performance everyone else does. For a 15 minute spell in the first half after our goal he had at least several occasions where he could of got the ball on the half turn and got us up the pitch. Instead he was giving it back to Scales and Taylor in awkward positions where they didn't want it. The one time he did do it he skipped past a player and we were on the attack. I just feel he could of eased the pressure on the defence after our goal.

I felt there was a lot of times last night as well when he could have made an angle and then got it from either Scales or Phillips but seemed to stay straight behind the opponent and it then forced the centre half to play it to one of the full backs. I just thought it was a strange performance from him, because he usually gets on the ball and dictates. I don’t think he done that at all last night. When he did receive it as well, I felt he could have got on the half turn more often and took us forward. I felt like the whole team were pretty negative in their approach when they received the ball.

Listened to a few podcasts tonight and honestly feel like I’m going mad, does everyone agree he’s slow and less agile now? I just don’t see it.

I’ve seen that he has such a larger area to cover without inverted full backs, and going to inverted the Killie game you seen him same as the last couple years.

It’s a narrative that’s developed and I can’t see it at all. He hasn’t physically degraded to a big extent with 5/6 weeks off in summer

Not sure on the physicality thing but he was really out of form at the start of the season. I think you hit the nail on the head though that the lack of inverted full backs exposes his defensive side of his game. Being honest that has always been the case he isn’t that physically strong or a ball winner that’s not his game, but never has been.

We just largely get away with it in Scotland as we are a far better side than the others. I actually think he works well beside McTominay and McGinn in the Scotland midfield as they both are physical players.

His awareness is top notch. Always knows the spaces to be in to retrieve the ball when the opposition break and wins it back for us. Some of his quick bursts and passes were exceptional today. Back to his best I reckon

    Absolutely brilliant as usual.

He’s easily one of the best Celtic players I’ve ever seen.

How many off games has he actually had?

Even the greats I’ve seen like Lambert, Lennon and Petrov all had off games. It was probably just highlighted less because of less fan scrutiny due to no forums or social media.

His level of consistency is nothing sort of remarkable.

    Absolutely controlled the game.

Found space wherever he was, with or without the ball.

    Good again tonight

Even helped the defence out, when we were pegged back, with an interception in the 6 yard box.

Thought he had us purring first half, always there for the pass, made so much space, lovely touches and passes.

Second half wasn't in it at all, disappeared is too strong but not far from it Just can't square that performance. Is it just me?
