Been away working nightshift for a week or so, so catching up on all the football talk and Ange still lives in their heads and still has them broken and stinging from it.

They’ve compared the last 3 managers they’ve had now as needing to have an Ange like impact, but here’s the catch, they’re still saying it like they’re punching down on a random manager wee plucked out of desperation and is our Pedro who was successful. And they keep thinking he’s set the bar, set the average of anything less than Ange like is unsuccessful.

And I hope they keep doing it, because with all that type of talk, I’ve not heard one pundit or journalist point out that he currently has Spurs top of the league after selling Kane who was the guy who carried that club for years. He’s a guy who is the only manager ever down there to win two MotM awards 2 months straight.

Frankly, they’ve not pointed out that he is a * exceptional manager. Genuinely exceptional.

And in a year or two, he’ll be regarded as up there with the likes of Klopp. He reminds me of a more empathetic, philosophical, charismatic Alex Ferguson.

If matching him is the lowest acceptable measure of a manager…. It won’t happen. He’s a one off, and ability wise, not achievement wise sadly because he wasn’t here long enough is one of two after Stein that won’t be matched. The other ones Walter Smith btw and I’ll admit that easily, the thing is they can’t bring themselves to admit something like that for us, the mentality to humble themselves and recognise achievements in the Taigs. Big part of there repeated failures.

Incidentally the other guy I’d mention in O’Neill done the same with their egos, and eventually it Killed their club. Never forget they done that to break even with our success of the time, because they don’t believe that to be fact. And it is fact.

That's a good point. Ange is clearly an elite manager and they don't just grow on trees. Unless you somehow identify them from the wilderness like with Ange, it's almost impossible to attract a Premier League top-6 level manager to Scotland. Whether Rodgers is that level as well is debatable, however he's still excellent and realistically the only reason he's here now is due to his prior affiliation with the club.

Maybe Pep or Klopp are secret Rangers fans, but somehow I doubt it.

There's also the added barrier they have of resources. They don't have the money or assets required to rebuild the squad like Ange was able to do, especially 6 months after they've just brought a bunch of new players in.

Selling French Eddy, Ajer and Christie gave Ange the funds he needed to bring a while host of players in, and then there was the added benefit of his skill for recruitment and access to a previously untapped market.

So if Ange's impact is their bar for success, they're likely going to be disappointed with Clement or any other manager they might be able to bring in.

Ange is the modern day equivalent of Lubo for me, experienced old head geniuses, with a great track record and loads of praise within greats in the game, that somehow gets plucked out of a wilderness they were somehow in, and are peerless at what they do.

Give Ange a year down there, he’ll be rated higher than Pochetino and probably already has made himself rated higher than ETH, the latter who I feel sorry for a bit he’s a good manager in a shitshow they don’t allow him to fix. Rangick was right when he said top to bottom surgery required for Utd

If Richarlison was Kane maybe. Would love to see him win it but can't see it.

Honestly mate it wouldn't surprise me. Their squad is poor though beyond the first XI. If they get lucky with injuries and sign a few top players in January I think they can do it.

He's done better than I expected to so far, thought it'd take him a while to get going.

I think he'll secure top 4 this season, but I think they lack the squad depth to win the league, their rotational players aren't good enough.

Just watched the spurs game and can’t not be impressed with how he’s doin down there. Yeah, spurs are riding their luck a bit at times but you can defo see the blueprint for success once he’s had a few windows.
Agree with above posters that they lack squad depth and a bit of superior quality on some areas for that level (richarlison is dung) but it’ll come.
    You never know…

We’ll see where they’re at around February mate. We’ve still got a transfer window in January to come, where Levy might actually say, “hold on a minute here, this * is actually worth investing in”.

I 100% believe he’ll win it and take Pep’s job when he leaves City.

I don't think he'll win it (this year) and would even suggest he's had a massive slice of luck so far. Man Utd missed a host of sitters (and I mean really easy ones)... Arsenal gifted them two goals after playing all over them... the whole Liverpool fiasco... and they were really shithouse second half this morning. You could easily be deleting 6 or 7 points from where they are now.

Having said that, he's clearly done a magnificent job and if he signs at least two first team starters in January, just might have the depth to consolidate a genuine challenge.

    I reckon they'll finish 3rd or 4th.

As for Pep's job... Ange has been one of the contenders for a long time, but he's totally beyond the CFG network now, and I don't know he'd want it. He can create a much bigger legend at Spurs than he could at the richest club in the world (NUFC notwithstanding).

But I'm sure we're all delighted to see our own estimation of the man being validated at the highest level.

Don’t think I’ve ever loved and respected a football manager as much as him. That includes Martin O’Neill who gave me some of my greatest memories ever growing up.

I just believe in his methods so much, he’s world class and has to prove it every single place he goes in the face of adversity from ever angle. And does while not giving a single * what anybody says. The guys my idol and I’m 32 years of age :giggle1:

Think you're being harsh on them here, mate. Yes Utd had chances but so did Spurs beyond their 2 goals - that was a fairly even game where Spurs were just more clinical. Arsenal too, they hardly battered them. First 30 minutes Spurs were under the cosh but after that they were the better side. Arsenal only scored through a deflected goal and a penalty. Liverpool, aye, that was a fiasco.

I think we all know that the best managers appear to be lucky, but that it's a lot more than luck. Alex Ferguson didn't get so many last minute winners because he was lucky, it was because he got that extra 1% from his players, and I think Ange is similar.

I don't think they'll win the league this year but they're worthy leaders right now.

Agree with most of that - I'm just being the voice of caution.

Disagree on the Arsenal game though - Arsenal should've won that. But that's football... a game of tiny margins, which is why we love it.

I’m not sure he will win it but I don’t think, to get the city job, he would need to win the epl.
