Being controversial for the sake of being controversial.
I am on board wit GB mostly. They are a great reminder of what the club wad founded for and keeping it like that.

That’s not really justification for banning people though in my opinion.

Could be seen as antagonistic towards a sizeable section of our fan base.

I agree with you on your last point 100%. But my view is that given the barbaric nature of the attacks by Hamas, the GB should be explaining themselves to remove any doubt as to what the banner was referring to. The fact they haven’t makes me think that’s exactly what they were referring to as I can’t think of any reason why they would choose not to say otherwise. It just doesn’t make any sense at all to me. Yes they have split the support for years but this episode is changing the opinion of fellow fans who have been in full support of them as a group since they came on the scene. Maybe they don’t give a * about that right enough?!

And of course the banner is completely irrelevant in the context of the inhumane stuff that’s happening over there but that’s not really what we’re discussing. We’re discussing the GB, their actions & the potential consequences of their actions. The board are a bunch of hypocrites but I just find it nigh on impossible to defend the GB here when they had the opportunity to clear the matter up & chose not to. Ultimately, if the board take action, the GB only have themselves to blame sadly.

The thing is, the board appear to have taken action. They are banned apparently. So if they have been banned, the board should then be providing an explanation as to why. Given that they haven’t communicated with them says to me it’s because that explanation would be based on assumptions rather than facts.

I agree they should have condemned Hamas in their statement.

Good luck with that then..because if they step into that war..they'll become my enemy, when at the moment I'll leave them be. That's a big fight they could well lose seeing as well all support the Palestinians.

Off topic, I think I'll be starting a British Army 77th Brigade thread one of these days.

Globally? The GB haven't. Much though I do wish they had condemned the terror attack and HAMAS, the GB not condemning them has absolutely not * on us globally. What has * on us globally is our politicians seemingly being unable to condemn Israel's seige and bombardment and being unwilling even to make the most timid requests for humanitarian aid without prefacing it with, "We recognise Israel's right to defend itself." This is being reported outside the west (i.e. the majority of the world's people) and they compare it to how we speak up about Ukraine and Xinjiang and a lot of people have utter contempt for us in the UK.

This is obviously not about us, but since Celtic fans are the thread topic, I would say that globally, anything we can do to distance ourselves from the response of our government removes * from our reputation.

It doesn't matter. We don't have a time machine and they aren't going to change their minds. I also think that was wrong; but what matters now are the current atrocities. Let's criticise the GB for not condemning HAMAS later. For now, let's get behind the GB on the current atrocities.

If you read my last 2 posts, you'll see that I am as disgusted as you are; but there's nothing unique about the UK in that respect (the US, Germany, etc). Widen the lens from Palestine and there's nothing unique about the west doing that (Turkey, Russia, China...).

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure I can agree with you that the current British army in its entirety fits any definition I would recognise of a terrorist organisation. But that's way off topic, so I'll just agree to disagree.
