What an utterly retarded post that is.

Not that it’s particularly surprising from someone of your ilk. Taking sides in a conflict you’re so obviously clueless about, just because it’s fashionable. Grow a brain lad, think for yourself for once in your life!

Again getting off topic for the Abada thread however probably less so than bringing Henrik into it but the England captain was booed last night and the Sunderland fans who followed him all the way through his time at Liverpool have definitely turned on him.

Fair enough. I just know that if Henrik had chosen to make big political statements and criticised the support I would have taken that exactly the same way as if Steve Guppy/Momo Sylla had. Then again he wouldn't have done that as he was to savvy as I think Abada is ( unless I have missed something.)

I’ve always said our fanbase is fickle. The ‘faithful through and through’ line applies to the club, but absolutely not the players or manager. I would imagine fans of most clubs are pretty similar in this regard, and it’s arguably got worse over time. We will absolutely turn on a player after a few bad games, or for saying the wrong thing, hinting at a move etc.

I completely get what you’re saying, but consider the line ‘shame if he does, because he has bags of potential’. It’s kinda my point in relation to wondering how fans would feel if a real superstar player and icon was at the club. Truthfully, it would be a shame if the lowest player/member of staff on the proverbial totem pole felt unwelcome here because of their place of birth.

I think it’s a particular sore one for me to take because I didn’t really fall into supporting Celtic due to family connections. I came from a Muslim household and although my first connection with the club came from some Irish neighbours when I was a young kid around 5/6 years old, my real affinity with the club grew from a place of minorities being welcomed openly. As much as I believe in the Palestinian cause and am glad our supporters go to efforts to support it through charitable work etc, it shouldn’t come at the expense of making an innocent Israeli kid feel like they’re not welcome here.

I completely agree on the personal aspect of each individual affected. Most people will understandably put broader geopolitics to one side of their family are directly impacted. They’ll become tribal, and that’s fully understandable.

It's the exact same on the other side. Watched a video the other day and all the Palestinian kids were taking about how they hated the Jews and wanted to wipe them from the face of the earth. Indoctrination from the parents (and schools) of both sides and probably peer pressure too for the others not being indoctrinated at home.

It will never end - well it could, but only with 1 side wiping out the other... * on Earth.

The Palestinians might have a more concrete reason for feeling like that though.

I think Bitton has now burned his bridges with his latest statement, and had Henrik said the same things under the same circumstances he may well have to.

I was more referring to the earlier stages of Bitton’s time with us. There were a few who never took to him because of his IDF connections, and maybe a bit of a cold-shoulder from a few more. I’m not certain things would’ve been the same if he was a superstar, banging in goals for us while turning down big moves etc.

Anyway, I think we’re both in agreement that we don’t want to see that. He’s a young guy whose country have just been faced with a genuine atrocity, and sadly will commit further atrocities in return. I hope - and think - he’ll play for us again and get a positive welcome when he does.

    It’s a horrible situation.

Any view that doesn’t adopt a two-state solution is doomed to fail, imo. Sadly there are enough sectarian zealots on either side, who genuinely want to wipe out the others side, to ensure it’s almost an impossible goal at this stage.

I think we fundamentally agree on Abada ( and this is his thread after all ). If he played tomorrow for Celtic I would be 100% behind him. I don't think we agree though on the Celtic support and how strongly a lot of the Celtic support have genuine convictions on politics and the world outside of football.

Anyway I am off to the watch the Grand final so good luck :50:

I can relate to this! I grew up with the same mentality wanting to kill and murder the other side from a very young age! And can't go into any details about some incidents growing up during the troubles for obvious reasons. Anytime we seen Brits, cops, orange men, protestants killed we took pleasure in it. Like them children in palastine, the British created the conditions that shaped our young minds and like them children in palastine, isreal are doing the same only on a much more brutal way! Seriously though, can you * blame them. Your post insinuates that it's the parents and schools fault rather than the real creaters of the real issue! Behave yourself and look at the bigger picture before you post such *!

As for abadda, he's here for the salary, the career. At the end of the day he couldn't give a flying * about us. If someone comes in with a much better offer he'll be away before we know it. If he's not happy with our supporters supporting palastine then he can GTF IMO! Someone else will come in at take his place. He shows any support for isreal I don't even want him anywhere near our club! His people are actually involved in mass destruction of palastine everyway you look at it. They are the settlers now in that county taking over. For that reason, I don't even want him in the hoops now after what I've been seeing this last week in palastine. That's how strongly I feel about now.
