It could well be more to do with what's happening in Israel than anything to do with us.

Pretty uncomfortable situation for him personally either way I'd guess regardless of the rights and wrongs of what's happening.

He needs to realise - if he doesn’t already - that support for the Palestinians doesn’t equate to support for Hamas. That’s something that history-professor Bitton flagrantly missed.

I'm trying to see it from his point of view , coming out to see Palestinian flags being waved by the clubs fans you play for ( which I have no problem with whatsoever ) must really impact him and would've bitton.

    It's a toughy that.

I completely understand why one of our players/ex players from Israel would feel confused or hurt seeing something like that, especially in the heat of this moment.

This is just our views but it’s their life. So it’s a little insensitive to call them * etc, as we have not been brought up within their bubbles.

It doesn’t make them right, but we haven’t had their upbringing.

The banner didn’t come across that way. “Victory to the resistance” after civilians specifically were targeted? By Hamas I’d add. It was in incredibly poor taste and as someone else said, came across as a “get it up ye” rather than a genuine interest in the Palestinian people.

Their upbringing will have been a helluva lot easier than the Palestinians that their fellow countryman have butchered for decades. As I said in the Bitton thread, there are plenty Israeli’s who completely condemn Israel’s actions and are totally embarrassed by them. If these people can see it, there is no reason why the likes of Bitton and Abada can’t either. Bitton is a Zionist *, no two ways about it.

You’re entitled to your opinion about Bitton and Bitton is entitled to his opinion about the Tifo.

If you canny see how someone would be upset seeing something like that you need to open ur eyes a bit wider.

Who are we sitting in scotland to tell people in these conflicts how to feel or what to believe. We can promote the truth we see.

Our opinion is a privileged one - from the outside.

This post puts me in mind of the split in Irish Republicanism. As a rebel singer I've been faced with unhappy punters when singing certain songs at times.

Basically, you have 'Shinners' and 'Dissidents'. Songs praising Sinn Fein are met with hostility by 'Dissidents' due to Sinn Fein being seen as soup takers for disarming and going down the political route.

Extremely sticky subject, but I'm always of the mind that I'm a musician and the priority is to cater to the crowd and ensure everyone has a great night.

But getting to the point, I've lived all my days in Scotland. I'd never presume to tell anyone that grew up in Ireland what their opinion should be on situations they lived through. And as much as I see the Palestine/Israel troubles through my own eyes and what I read, I'm not from either place and don't have a scooby how I'd deal with it if I were.

So aye, you are 100% bang on here. Very well put.

Then you have guys like me who request songs, so you may feel you have little choice. I usually request emigration songs though, like the Streets of New York.

Being from an unmarried Irish mother, who came to Scotland to give birth, I respect the work that Sinn Fein have done to helping those of that era cope. I've read books of kids who were separated at birth, who met with the likes of Gerry Adams and they were shocked on much he knew of the subject.

However, although I am 93% Irish with siblings there, I would never tell anyone in Ireland how to vote or think. They live there, not me.

Similar to Israeli footballers we have had. I'm just taking Abada's post as support for the ordinary people of Israel, not the regime that runs it. Not seen Kayal or El Hamed say anything against us.

That’s one way of looking at it. Another way would be that the people, who’ve had to endure heinous treatment at the hands of the Zionists for years are “the resistance” - after all, have they not resisted and persevered against state-sponsored terrorism for decades?

I agree, though, that the wording could’ve been better - but it’s hardly like flying Hamas flags tbf.

That’s all well and good but the feelings of many of our fans on this subject are, and always have been, very clear. If he had such a poor opinion of us he should’ve grabbed himself by the balls, had a bit of principle, and * off for himself years ago. I can empathise with him being angry about the attack yesterday, of course, but I honestly think his sentiments about the supporters were a disgrace.

Being from an unmarried Irish mother, who came to Scotland to give birth.... almost the same as me, just replace Scotland with London.

When I lived in Israel, the joke amongst us foreigners was that the Israelis treated their pets better than the Palestinians. The whole situation is flipping complicated but people need to realise that Palestinian people have so much crap to deal with on a daily level that their only option is to fight. Back in the dark days of Northern Ireland Catholics were banned from the best jobs and the best housing but the Palestinians have it worse, road blocks, check points, their land stolen, their wells concreted, their buildings destroyed and so on, no one helps them so they fight. Modern day Israel is the same as the old South Africa, it's an apartheid country where the whites (Israelis) get the best of everything and the blacks (the Palestinians) get nothing. This has been going on forever.

At the same time, innocent Israelis have the right not to be blown up by nutcases.

They need a northern Ireland/South Africa peace deal or it will never end. Personally I think they should just make a new country with both people and start again.

Bitton wasn’t just upset about what happened yesterday though. He is trying to say that Gaza needs freed from Hamas but not from Israel. He then goes on to say that most of the Celtic fans don’t know where Israel is and have no clue about the conflict. Well, if he thinks Gaza does not need freed from Israel, I think it is Bitton who needs educated on the conflict. Bitton never just gave his opinion on the Tifo, he gave it on the subject as a whole. I know who needs their eyes opened wider.

I’ve never seen Bitton commenting on Israel’s appalling crimes over the years, why choose to start yesterday commenting on the conflict? I’ll tell you why, because he is a brainwashed Zionist *. So aye, I’m entitled to my opinion on him, and that is it. He is a *.

That’s the wee man put out a statment on his story.

“IT IS DIFFICULT TO EXPLAIN THE RANGE OF EMOTIONS

I FEEL AT THE MOMENT WE WOKE UP TO ONE OF THE DARKEST DAYS IN THE HISTORY OF MY COUNTRY.

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK EVERYBODY SENDING ME

    SUPPORTING MESSAGES ON SOCIAL MEDIA

OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS

IT IS NOT TAKEN FOR GRANTED

MY HEART GOES O UT TO ALL THE FAMILIES WHO LOST THEIR LOVED ONES

    PRAYING FOR MORE PEACEFUL DAYS

    LOVE YOU ALL”

Far more thought out and mature than Bitton. You can feel for your people without attacking anyone.

Nice. Hope it was his own words. Not a dig at Liel but more the board maybe asking him to defuse the situation.

Whole thing is * up. The world is completely fractured and old political lines don't mean * anymore. We're being openly mugged here and we need to shake off the malaise.

Celtic have held private talks with Liel Abadaafter the Green Brigade's support of Palestine attracted controversy in his homeland.

Injured Abada was spotted visiting Parkheadon crutches on Monday and met with club officials but is understood to have missed James Forrest's testimonial dinner. Football Scotland can reveal the Israeli winger, 22, spoke with members of the Hoops boardroom after supporters showed their solidarity by unfurling Palestinian flags during their fixture against Kilmarnock. Abada is understood to have been offered support by the Celtic hierarchy after he was targeted for abuse on social media from his home country
