Exactly right, ffs, out CL by Midtylland, then humiliated against Bodo Glimt and then glorious failure again last year.

I’ve said it a few times recently. It’s reached the point now where a lot of our support have bought into the “we can’t compete” notion that has been drip fed throughout Lawwell’s time at the club. You have people trying to do all sorts of mental gymnastics to justify why we can’t improve the current playing team, from wages to weather in Scotland.

We are sitting in the best financial position we have ever been in, yet we somehow managed to come out the summer transfer window weaker than we went into it. The old excuse about waiting to see if we qualified wasn’t able to be used this time either. This board simply don’t know how to take us forward in Europe. All the evidence over the last 20 years points to this. We have been turned into European minnows by this board. Teams must absolutely love drawing us in Europe. We have got the funds there that could allow us to be far more competitive and see how far it takes us, but this board are not prepared to spend it appropriately.

With a bit more ambition in the summer, we could have recouped the money spent by winning group games. Especially considering we got the best CL group we have ever had. There’s more ways to make money than what a players incoming and outgoing fee is.

Here is a mental notion. Maybe if we showed some ambition and were being more competitive in Europe, it would attract a better calibre of player.

Mate I'm 100% with you. The fact that some of our fans defend this board or have accepted this utter bullshit from them astounds me.

Said it before many times, as a club under this stewardship we are going absolutely nowhere. It's a money making machine that has little to no regard of progression on the pitch. Do enough to win domestically and hopefully some cheap punt makes us millions. Weve becone the laughing stock and whipping bhoys of Europe. Absolutely sick of it. Won't be long before we are resting players in Europe because we have a Scottish Cup tie.. some of our support will be happy with that, as long as the huns don't win it..

Our league performances so far have been brutal too, just lucky the rest of the league is * muck

Anyway * this.. I'm out.. annoying myself now.

It's the lack of quality combined with an absence of let's call it street smarts, which makes it very difficult to get wins at this level.

We played ok for the most part, even well at times, and Lazio certainly weren't amazing. But they have a side littered with internationals or ex-internationals with huge experience. These teams know how to win games, and if they can't, they know how not to lose them.

As soon as we gave that ball away in the final minute in the centre of the pitch, we were in trouble. However, reverse the situation and I doubt we have the composure to take advantage.

We're never going to be able to match these sides for quality of player, so we just have to hope that they gain experience and learn from their mistakes. Chip away at it each season as Ange said.

See another thing that annoyed me last night. Why no just play YNWA as normal. The lassie signing was a good enough chanter, but half the crowd didn’t know what was happening at the start of the song, then she done the pause during “never” at the wrong time so folk thought it was finished when there was still another chorus. It was the worst version I can recall for a CL group game. That used to be something that got the fans going straight away on games like last night.

No it's a new excuse now being used by the boul Peter. We need to hoard money as history has shown us we won't qualify every year for the CL. The thing is most Celtic fans are sensible and don't want to see the club be put at risk. It is crazy but a couple of say £7 million signings in the summer would have placated a lot of fans. It would have shown ambition but in no way jeopardised the club financially. Yet what we got was a load of projects which is being shown up fully as per usual in the CL. Not one player we bought in the summer has improved our starting 11. That is unforgiveable. And we pay the price in Europe.

I like Maeda but unless you use him through the middle he is offering very little going forward.

Hart and Taylor we have known about.

Palma and Yang look promising. The CL is not as Petrov said last night for development.

Hatate looks miles off it. Midfield looks lightweight and asks intensity at this level.

We really lack a nastiness to our game. We are too nice. The key to winning home games is to play with intensity. We didn't really trouble the keeper last night at all. Hatates free kick and Palmas disallowed goal was about all I can remember.

As for VAR I detest it. Absolutely hate it. Football is about fans. It is about spontaneity. The spontaneous joy of scoring a goal. Celebrating with strangers. Enjoying the moment. No kids pick up a football in the hope that every decision be made correctly. That is for the Spreadsheet dickheads. VAR has taken a lot of enjoyment out of football for me. It is here to stay I know but I barely watch football anymore except Celtic.

    Sums it up for me.

Saves writing anything else anyway as I’m sure it’s all been covered.

Should be playing fringe players in the remaining 4 games. Bain, Ralston, Iwata etc. Give whoever is eligible some minutes. Results are unattainable anyway.

How wasteful are we with the ball at times by the way. Time after time we get into promising positions and the final ball goes wayward. Composure goes out the window 9 times out of 10.

It was a sore one last night, no doubt about it, but far too much doom and gloom on here.

Two games down and we've shown we're a match for both feyenoord and lazio so far imo, albeit taking no points. It's easy to say lazio are bang average, but how much of that is down to us making them look bang average? I thought we were very good out of possession last night.

We're definitely a few players away from dishing out regular wins at this level but the managers just in the door. We were never going to turn ourselves into a quality champions league team in one transfer window.

Feels likes another Euro campaign over tbh. 3rd is out of the question to now I would say with the way the groups going. We would to beat Madrid and Feyenoord to get through for just the Europa.

We’re going to have to beat Feyenoord at Celtic Park by 3 goals otherwise we are out because Atletico Madrid will beat us home and away.
We won’t get through to next round in CL but possibly EL.

We are tired of getting plaudits for heroic failure. It is 10 years since we won a CL home game. Our last 11 at home our record is Drew- 2, lost- 9. That is unacceptable. Home games included were against Lazio, Shakhtar, Liepzig, Gladbach, Anderlecht. No one is asking for us to be a 'quality' CL team. Fans are asking that we don't be a completely * one.

With the greatest of respect, this is utter *. We will be using the same excuses a year from now, and the year after, and the year after. We were close to being a competitive CL team when Ange left, then proceeded to come out the transfer window weaker then we went into it. It’s the same old story time and time again.

The same Ange that failed to beat the worst Shakhtar Donestsk team I've ever seen? The manager is not the problem here.

Unless we pick up a point before then, and they lose their next three games. Not ideal, and not the most likely outcome, but could happen.
