There was a time not that long ago when if we went ahead like we did tonight, every single attack or set piece for the opposition would have been booed and whistled. The ground is just flat.

Aye I do agree. It's not what it once was.

Probably a combination of things. Definitely think our European record of late has people just constantly shiteing themselves and tbh it's hard to not.

I hate this competition. We always get embarrassed but we need the money.
It's like if my employer offered a bonus worth 50% of my annual salary to have me dress up as a pig once a year and make squealing noises while he rode on my back up and down the office while everyone pointed and laughed. Money's money and I'd probably do it; but I'd come to dread that time of year.

Well, that's how I feel about the CL.

As I say, for me the surprise is that there isn't a lot more negativity. I'm quite impressed even.

True, on the same page pages back people are saying "we've not won a CL game at home in 10 year" then someone is saying "the atmosphere is * now"

    Probably not a coincidence :56:

From like 2001 when we were first in it to 2012 we must have won about 15 games at home out of about 20 odd as O'Neill and Strachan I think won every home game except like 1 in the first about 5 times we were in it. Then Lennon won 3/4 over two spells then nothing since.

The atmosphere would have been great then or seen as because we were winning nearly every home game and always celebrating. Now we're not winning any home game.

The atmosphere at these games is also * compared to what it used to be. Probably because we haven't won in so long.

Mate we scored tonight and granted I wasn't at the game but my instant thought after scoring in the 13th minute was "* I hope we can hold on till at least half time"

    It's * depressing :giggle1:

At 40 minutes I was thinking we better not concede before HT even though Lazio weren't even doing much but you are more concerned about giving goals away than scoring.

Even the 2nd half I thought we played well but you are expecting a calamity or to lose more than you are thinking about winning.

We've been battered into having no confidence probably just cause we've not won in it in ages.

Aye exactly and everything you've said there definitely seeps into the atmosphere.

Only way that goes away is with results being more consistent or if you go about 3-0 up. Both of which are scenarios we are unlikely to see anytime soon.

I remember posting before the game I hope we have one of those random games you see in the CL where everything comes off, you get gifted chances by mistakes, an opposition player sent off, maybe score from a set piece or a long range wonder goal.

Seems Newcastle had one of those games, scored from a set piece, Schar slipping shooting scoring from 25 yards out and it flew into the top corner and their opening goal a blunder gifting them possession at the edge of the box.

The amount of times we've been in the CL we must be due one of these mad ones where no matter what we do we'll score for fun out of nowhere and win. Hopefully against Atletico :56:

Thats how bad it's got really that you are just hoping for a mad random game where everything lands for you so you can get a win.

Right! Actually do the unthinkable and win a * game at CP and the atmosphere will come back.

Celtic just keep on finding newer ways to torture us in Europe!
This has to be the worst yet!

Definitely. Rightly or wrongly the apprehension from the crowd is a byproduct of our displays in Europe for 10+ years. It's the same principle as your Crucial Summer thread. We all knew deep down we'd * the window up, so many of us were feeling pessimistic from the outset despite just winning a treble.

Same thing in Europe. We know we can't win games at home anymore, constantly make silly mistakes and let teams back into games we should be seeing out.

The atmosphere is much worse these days, no doubt about it. But it's up to the team on the park to alleviate the anxiety in the crowd. If we went hard for a second goal and scored another after our first the place would have been absolutely buzzing. But we took our foot off the gas and let them get back into it.

Its hard to get excited when we look toothless at the top end of the park. Alternatively, if we were creating chance after chance - the crowd would react accordingly.

For a first time in a long time I wasn't there, but my feeling at the end was gutted but optimistic.

I thought the atmosphere from the fans was great, we played at a fast tempo and with some luck we win that.

As per on here though, I'm drunk :giggle1:

I don't think it's anything to do with winning. I think a lot of the old school supporters are being priced out the game nowadays.

Majority of the crowd are happy to sit on their hands all game and get outsung by the away support. The disco lights are there to provide the atmosphere.

Not Long home football was great to begin with thought that mob was for the taking they ain’t anything special. Felt like after 20 minutes we started sitting back after pressing and playing decent football same as second half. Didn’t deserve that result tonight but it is was it is FK Lazio

Just home and still raging. We look scared to play football, hesitant with an inferiority complex. No wonder top coaches can only put their name to us for so long. * wee guy syndrome always.

Maeda...* is this guy all about? People who ignore how bad he is at controlling a football are a * embarrassment.

Hatate...absolute shitebag, never a professional footballer in his puff.

Players standing on the pitch, watching the game as if they're on the couch watching it on the telly. No interest in moving around giving their teammates an option.

Talent ain't the problem, it's a mentality thing. * disgrace.

Just havnt got the players for this level, it's not an inferiority complex it's just we are inferior, definitely in at least 3 or 4 positions, probably more. We just can't compete at this level with our transfer strategy, for me it's that simple. We don't give ourselves a fighting chance
