Scunnered. Majority of the crowd were shocking all night as well.

More than happy enough to jump on a player when he makes a mistake but not bothered enough to give the team some encouragement.

Celtic Park is fast becoming a myth.

One thing I noticed in the first half is how quick lazios passing/first touch was.

When we had possession we immediately treated it like SPFL, slow, slow build up. Pass side ways, pass back. A few steps. make a slow pass.

We only held possession in the second half because Lazio shut up shop the last 20 and came away with a surprise goal that they made little effort to create

Couldn't you tell the players before champions league games, that were playing about 3 levels above our domestic opposition tonight so don't recycle the ball more than 2 times at the back in one play or their players will be right on top of us in our own penalty area and will score.

So hit it long to one of our forwards!

Works for me but we seem incapable of giving that instruction

Agreed thought the players were getting far too much stick, should be making the opposition players feel uncomfortable not our own.

We had so many opportunities to miss a man and play a faster and more direct pass. But it must go man to man. Just let Lazio get across every time.

Yeah it's fine when you are 50 yards from goal and looking for an opening, however if two switches later your full back is taking a pass 20 yards from goal facing his own goalkeeper then it's time for plan B.

Admit defeat on that one and try again.

Create more clear cut chances, be more direct, take players on more, deliver more crosses into the box, more shots on goal. It's pretty obvious.

We haven't created enough good goalscoring opportunities in the 2 games we've had. Other than a few half chances the opposition goalkeepers have rarely been tested or put under extended periods of pressure.

Lazio and Feyenoord are clearly bang average teams at this level and didn't create much either but still they come away with 3 points.

I'm tired of this glorious failure mentality, like we should all be happy because we managed to keep possession of the football in areas that never hurt the opposition.

I think after more than 10 years without a win, the vast majority of games being defeats and some right good kickings along the way, fans can be forgiven for not creating the same atmosphere as they used to. And anyway, I remember Lenny getting pelters for a backwards pass against Boavista, so it's not that new TBH.

I think as a fanbase we’ve become so used to domestic success that nothing is ever good enough. I hate to say it, but it’s entitlement. There are guys I sit next to at games who will only make a sound to shout abuse at our own players.

That carries over into Europe. There’s just a nervous energy about the place now.

Club did not help one bit tonight with that awful rendition of YNWA followed by the disco Bella Ciao blaring out the tannoy and drowning out the crowd. You’re supposed to build atmosphere, not completely kill it.

It’s not about atmosphere. Its jumping on players after one mistake and this obsession with just calling them * without any actual constructive criticism. It’s just “he’s garbage” by about 20 different people said in different ways. It’s modern football. Its so weird.

Can’t mind the last time I felt that deflated after a game :(

Played well though and have no real complaints, up and go again the Glasgow Celtic!!

The board just look at the CL as a payday. We dont deserve to be there.

Glorified friendlies to take the cash in to prepare us for domestic success.

No Celtic manager will be hounded by the board for his European failures and the financial boat is never pushed too far out in the transfer window.

It’s not * obvious. That’s why I asked you what you meant. “Force the issue” it’s a throwaway line with no substance that * use when they don’t have a clue how top level football works.

By being more direct do you mean hoof the ball up to 5ft7 Kyogo? Or taking on Hollywood shots from 35 yards?

You said the style of play was excruciating. The managers set up allowed us to break their press and get in to dangerous areas. That’s what he can control.

Yang losing the ball every time he gets it, or Maeda tripping his own two * feet? These are things outwith his control.

I'm not calling anyone garbage; but at CL level, they're not good enough. They're just not. How can you argue with more than 10 years of this under multiple managers (2 of them extremely good managers too!)? At some point in more than a decade of this, you have to realise that it's not that the tactics were wrong, not the referee or VAR, not bad luck, not that the fans aren't backing the team... it's that we don't have good enough players for this level.

This is why I prefer the EL, because they're not totally out of their depth at EL level and occasionally, just occasionally, we actually win a game.

The ref was an utter joke tonight, how that dirty * hysaj got away with his forearm to the face I’ll never know, looked obvious at the time but even more so in the day and age of VAR. There were loads of other blatant fouls he let them away with too which were a total joke.

That being said it wasn’t his fault we replaced our 25m winger with a punt from the K-League or our centre half trying a cruyff turn while being pressed in his own half in the 96th minute of the game.

It's frustrating because we are competing well to a point and some better investment could see us taking points instead of sitting with 0 in another decent group for us.
I would also like us to try and play a bit quicker sometimes. It always looks like the other team have several options in possession and we have 2 or 3 and mostly play sideways or back. Sometimes we play our way out of a high press by the skin of our teeth to get to the halfway line and go back and start again, it seems very high risk low reward when opposing teams can play 3 passes and be bearing down on our goal.

The issue tonight wasn't our style of play nor Rodgers, if Palma's goal counted and we hung on almost everyone would be talking about how good we were tonight. We played through their press multiple times and bar a few misplaced passes, defended well.

The problem was not properly recruiting in the summer, players like Yang are very clearly projects who need more time to develop, yet he's starting on the wing against a CL level team. Taylor clearly doesn't fit Rodgers style of play, and despite having a decent start to the season, Hart is still on the decline.

The board NEED to back Rodgers in the January window, it doesn't matter how bad the huns are (and they are really bad currently) Our barometer should never be them.
