Daizen Maeda

In the coming period, why not rest Maeda the weekends before our European games? That will mean he's fresh when we need him most and give much-needed opportunities to the likes of Yang and Oh domestically.

A well deserved call up for Japan for the international games.


First game is against Canada on October 13th with the second against Tunisia a few days later.

 

He's actually a man down in a game like that. Offers no conventional threat from the wing and if we just had someone who could just stuck to the wing and offer to face a man up and get a cross in we would be well balanced . The only threat came from the other two on the other wing. He had a nightmare .

 

I actually thought he was pretty good..

 

Attacking, he was erratic, but he only one winning the ball back at one stage.

 

Cannot replace his work rate but my *, his actual ability on the ball and decision making.

Killed us.

 

He was a key link in our goal, got himself some big chances carved out that others wouldn't get, if hi finishing was 10% better he'd score a boat load and we'd be laughing

 

If he had composure and technique he'd be an elite player. Love him and what he brings is invaluable but it was head in the hands stuff watching him try and control the ball at times tonight.

 

I thought he was excellent tonight but it’s such a Maeda thing to get a useless bawhair of a touch that does * all except get our ‘winner’ rules offside.

An enigma wrapped in a mystery.

 

First half summed him up, frightening pace to nick the ball and get himself through and then takes a horrible touch and rather than hold it up scuffs it wildly past on his left foot when he was never going to score.

At 1-0 that was the chance and it’s why we’re so poor in Europe.

I suppose if he had more composure and better technique he’d be an elite level footballer but it was such a simple touch to put himself clean through on goal and he made a total * of it.

Love him, thought he terrified them at times..

Let's face it if his end product was quality he wouldn't be playing for us..

Ghosted past his man for the opener.

 

There's a place for him in this team but his lack of ball control and technique let's him down far too often.
