For me it's a must win.. second easiest or less difficult fixture of the group..

I think he would be good defensively and probably more suited but not playing regularly affects more than just that as no doubt they will press high and if he’s taking the ball in under pressure he could misplace passes, turn not knowing he has a forward up his hole and make little mistakes like that giving the ball away etc leading to a goal. This can also happen to our best players that are playingn regularly in these games as we’ve seen before but would be more likely and more of a risk to a player who hasn’t. More risk of sloppiness from someone who hasn’t been getting a look in. We will have to bounce the ball into the cm/dm a lot in Europe and they need to be able to take it in on the half turn etc n make the right calls. I think it’s just too big of a game for him to start with not as much minutes played this season. I would however like to see him feature more domestically and be in contention for the next European game to start.

Agreed on both the preferred formation, and the expected one. I suppose an option would be to play Oh on the right wing, given how many are saying the weather is bad. It might be really prudent to play kick and rush football, depending on how wet the pitch is.

Team picks itself for me, there's no way I'd stick Iwata in there.

    Johnston Phillips Scales Taylor
    McGregor Hatate
    Maeda O'Riley Palma

Palma started against Feyenoord after some half an hour in his debut. Any argument against Iwata starting cannot be purely down to limited match sharpness because Rodgers apparently doesn't focus solely on that.

I think it's a bit different playing as a winger, mate. If Palma loses the ball on the wing, it's much less likely to be punished with a goal than losing it centrally just outside our own box. Seen so many goals from that the last few years.

Different position wingers are less likely to be dispossessed right outside of their own box and also Palma performed quite badly that game and was clear it was the wrong decision to start him so pretty bad example to give. After palmas cameo the weekend he could be in with a shout to start though. Can’t see Iwata starting unless he’s blown everyone out the water in training since the Motherwell game

Need to win if we want to qualify out the Group really. Don't really go into it with any confidence still as we've yet to still really play well this season or look like a settled team.

Hopefully one of those mad games where things just go your way and happen out of the blue. When you watch other CL games sometimes everything a team does ends up in the net, long range goals, scoring set pieces, getting 2 goals in 2 minutes and stuff or the opposition having a meltdown and getting reds and making mistakes and giving away penalties. Be great for us to have one of those types of games for once. Where you end up pumping a decent team like 4-0 with everything just going well for you - should be due to happen at one point.

The argument for Iwata not starting due to lack of minutes doesn't make sense if, you're willing to start Philips, who's just back from injury also.

But if we win, I won't give a toss as that's all that matters tonight.

My issue isn't just the lack of minutes it's also that he's not really that good either..

Said before there's no chance he starts anyway..

Don’t have a great feeling about this one, but it’s an absolute must-win so I’m hoping we’ll manage to grab a win. 1-0 or 2-1.
