He said he wanted to thank the managers that had guided him through the difficult time he has had, Ronny wasn't one of those managers.

You have no idea what support he received from Neil behind the scenes. Support during his struggles is the reason he singled out those 4 managers for thanks.

It was actually Lennon that loaned him to Melbourne in January '14. I think he was injured most of Deilas first season.

His recent career trajectory seems kind of bizarre, maybe he had an injury or something? Doesn't seem likely, was in the shape and form of his life when he left here. Just don't get it.

Well it all makes sense now after he opened up about his family. Wish him nothing but the best. A true Celtic great and a class act off the field.

He didn't forget him. If you read what he said he said he wanted to thank the managers who had supported and guided him through his tough times. He worked with Ronny as a young player before he and his wife had fertility problems I'm sure he is grateful to him but his statement wasn't a career retrospective he was sharing his personal struggles and thanked those who helped in those struggles.

I did but I still think most footballers don't retire at 30 to spend time with their family or whatever. It's his business at the end of the day, but I just don't get it.

    "or whatever"

He and his wife spent 7 years going through a grueling IVF journey that would have been emotionally and physically draining in ways only those who have been there will understand. If you remember Tom suffered a very bad groin injury as a young lad of 22 while playing for us, the fact that Lawwell and DD personally stepped in to help him and his wife suggests to me that the fertility issues may well stem from that injury he picked up playing for us. He has given more than enough to his football career and now wants to spend every moment he can with his growing family and not keep moving them to accommodate his career.

You not getting it says more about you than Tom.

I kind of find it bizarre aswell thou. People all over the world deal with worse situations yet still manage to stay in a career. Although if his misses is home sick and wants to go home to raise there family closer to home then fair play to him for sticking by her and giving up his career for her and his kids. It is admirable.

I wish him nothing but the best. Great footballer for us and gave us so many happy memories. Will never forget that goal at Hampden for the treble. Amazing it was!

Then maybe you need to read it again. He dealt with his situation and his career simultaneously and did so whilst giving us some magnificent football. It has been a 7 year journey for them and they went through it on the other side of the wprld from their loved ones, whilst contending with Tom's injuries and his Socceroo duties. Lets not forget how he was treated by the Socceroos boss last year when he had to pull out of the squad.

Now they have the family they fought for he wants to enjoy every second and is fortunate enough that he can afford to do so. You not being able to relate to a man who has the means chosing to prioritise time with his family doesn't make it bizarre.

Yeah what a player and an absolute privilege to see him play in the hoops and an ruthless hun skelper..

As much as I dislike Lawwell and Desmonds involvement in our club they seemed to have a major part to play in helping Tam start a family .. so fair play to them..

Brendan Rodgers has paid tribute to “Celtic great” Tom Rogic after the midfielder announced his retirement.

The normally reticent Australian issued an emotional statement explaining his decision, in which he detailed the fertility struggles he and his wife had experienced.

With twins on the way to join his young daughter in the Rogic family, the playmaker has quit the game to focus on his family life.

Rogic made a surprise exit from Celtic in the summer of 2022 after nine years in Glasgow and did not get in touch with Australia head coach Graham Arnold before missing his nation’s World Cup play-offs.

He then missed out on the squad for Qatar after signing for West Brom several months into last season and left the Hawthorns at the end of the campaign.

Rodgers said: “I was sad, I have to say, when I saw the news. I haven’t spoken to Tom yet but when I saw it, 30 years of age is still so young in the modern game.

“But knowing Tom as I do, I know family meant everything to him and when you read his script of the reasons why, then I totally understand that.

“In terms of what he gave as a football player, in my time here he was absolutely amazing. You talk about big moments, big contributions, big goals, that normally defines the best players. Throughout his time here, certainly when I was here, he produced all of that.

“His contribution in my time was second to none. He was an absolute joy to work with.

“He is clearly very much family-oriented, which is nice to see. Football is our life, it’s our passion, but it’s not everything. Family is most important. And for him as a young father to spend more time with his family, that was also a priority for him.

“It’s sad that he has bowed out at this stage of his career, however I hope he finds the happiness and he has left behind many great memories as a young footballer.

“He will always be deemed here as a Celtic great.”
