This is a big chance to see where we really are. Yeah we have a makeshift centre back pairing but realistically the rest of the team are pretty much what we have got.

I would like to see a performance where we would take the game to a better team than us and show some real intent in the game.

It still feels to me that this team need a big performance and result to really verify that we are making progress. Ibrox is probably the closest to this we have had but the second half wasn’t that great a performance.

Getting a win on the board would be great.

id consider playing a diamond in midfield for two reasons:

a/ id have Iwata holding with Mcgregor as a double pivot in there when times they have the ball. We can have O'Riley on the top of the diamond giving support down the right hand side, hopefully dragging their midfielder with him to create space. Hatate can push higher up on the press because they are vunerable at the minute. A forward four press of Kyogo, Meada, MOR and Hatate is strong, with McGregor to use his experience of when to join it knowing Iwata is behind him.

b/ We dont have a right winger. Both our wide players we have fit and ready for this level (Meada and Palma, and theres deffo a question mark on Palma)prefer down the left. I know ive recommended putting Kyogo on the right, but that should be tried domestically first to confirm Oh is up to the task leading the line. Meada just off Kyogo will occupy their defense and they can be interchangable.

The presence of Iwata to help out in centre midfield is worth more than Yang or Forrest starting, or putting a left sided winger on the right.

There are very limited times when half and half scarves can be viewed as being “hmm ok I suppose” this will never include * lazio, *.

I think we're pretty toothless right now, so if we're going to win it, it will need us to defend incredibly well and Rodgers to come up with something tactical that catches them unawares. He's a very good manager, so who knows, but it's more hope than expectation from me.

Really looking forward to this one. I'm expecting us to win although I haven't seen us win in the CL in a long time fs. Anytime I go last few times in CL we get beat fs.

A diamond is dependent on the wide defenders running up and down. With Maeda needing to shield Taylor, it would not look like a diamond. Maaybe if Iwata was swapped with McGregor... I think it's an interesting formation, in general.

I prefer the 4-2-3-1 for Europe. Obviously was Brendan’s formation preference first time around as well.

Think Rodgers, despite his comments to the contrary, will have started turning his eye to this one as soon as it was announced. This and Feynoord at home are probably the two games he'll look to get us euro football after Xmas.

For that reason I'm surprisingly quite confident.

Genuinely think Maeda would offer more through the middle in these type of games. Kyogo has been so poor in champions league game that it would be worth trying something else. We won't but
