Christmas came early for me today. Truly wonderful news this new contract.

I know he is unlikely to see it out, but Celtic have ring-fenced this deal as now we are in a great position when it comes to his departure.

I love watching the wee guy playing as he’s totally different from any other midfielder. His range of passing, and his ability to find pockets of space is unmatched for me.

The huns will be bricking it when MOR pens a new deal too.

Now we need to get AJ & CCV on improved terms too. Get it done Celtic!!

    Happy days my fellow Celts.

    Hail Hail.

I'd love to know how much of a pay rise we have given Kyogo, Maeda, Abada and Hatate.

Kyogo aside I wouldn't think the other 3 were on 5 figures a week when we signed them.

Sure he didn't have blue last game, can't remember the colour though.

Edit: just checked the Livi highlights, he had a red one.

Brilliant news. He's head and shoulders above any other player in his position in the league.

Him and Maeda were the two I wanted tied down. I mentioned before that I'd want Maeda over Jota and some folk sneered at that. I seriously think he's a bigger asset.

Hope this translates to performing better.

On form he's my favourite player, just not seen that player for quite a while.

I love Maeda but I don't think it's in question Jota is the better player. We've noticeably missed him this season given our lack of creativity in a lot of games.

Brilliant seeing all the Japanese guys extending post-Postecoglou….

Shows commitment… keeps the values high …. indicates a cohesive squad….

Brilliant news, class player and with a bit of luck we might keep him through his prime. Bet we had to reach into our pockets but that's expected.

We do seem to be managing these well. O'Reily, Johnston and Carter-Vickers next please.

Nope. Sorry. Can't agree with that at all.

Kyogo is talismanic. Reo has been MIA so far this season and we've kicked on fine without him.

While Oh still has to show what he's capable of, and Daizen can play though the middle and offer something too, a long term injury to Kyogo at this point would be disastrous. The same can't be said about Hatate, as we've done "fine" without him.

A fit and firing Hatate with his head in the game offers us the chance to excel, and brings a new dimension to the games, but he's far from a lynchpin in the team at this moment in time.

Happy that he's signed a new contract with us, but not because I think he's gonna beat the world in the hoops, just because it guarantees us a fair fee when he leaves, which everybody and their granny knows will be in one of the next three windows.

I'm with @leeso-ardoyne , not gonna cream my pants about this.

Great work from the club, and will be happy to see Reo in the hoops IF he can screw the nut. But his attitude and application recently have left alot to be desired, and given his constant and incessant blubbering about his ambitions, I'd seriously have zero issues with him leaving in the next window if the price was right.

If you told me Kyogo was leaving in January... cops would have to call in a hostage negotiator.

Every game he's came on the entire team suddenly looked better. He turns and passes forward. Yes they don't always come off and some football da's will think that's a disgrace he misplaced a pass and he's been MIA.. yet the entire team has played better with the forward passing. Infact the miss placed passes actually brought these packed bus defences out to play for a bit.

Ofcourse he's been Mia though and doesn't pass the ball perfectly back to the defenders like the rest. Football da style.

He has been injured for most of it.

I’d also point out that we have been knocked out the league cup and dropped points at home to St. Johnstone. So kicked on fine is a stretch at best.

The best we have played this season was last weekend away at Livingston. With Hatate in the team I may add.

This is brilliant news. Looked like he would be away. Hopefully this deal settles him down and gets him back to his best. He is one of the few players that we have where his level doesn’t drop against the best in Europe if he is on it.

Why do people not read posts before they respond?

I never once said we weren't a better side with him in it, on his game. I even alluded to extra dimension he brings the entire team.

My point was that he's not nearly as crucial to us as Kyogo, as one poster claimed.

I also said kicked on "fine"
Ie. The inverted commas. Not great, but certainly not a disaster. Blaming the absence of Hatate is a fine stretch indeed. No CCV, no Starfelt, no Jota, but Hatate is the missing link ? Nope. Sorry. Not to forget a brand new manager for the players to adapt to.

Also, what's this Celtic da pish? I'm 40!

Ffs I was merely contradicting a post that said Hatate is as important to us as Kyogo. It's simply not true. We could easily survive selling Hatate in the next window. Kyogo is another story altogether. Losing an in form Hatate halfway through the season would be a blow. Losing Kyogo would be an unmitigated disaster.

Edit: I didn't put "fine" in inverted commas. I meant to. Apologies.

    Edit.2 : wait... I actually did.

Having Hatate around when he's hitting his peak in two or three years time will be very important for us.

Credit where credit's due, well done Lawwell & co.

I doubt he'll be here more than another year or two. I think this contract, as well as O'Rileys, is more about keeping them happy short term and maximising our assets.
