I would love it to happen but I believe this will fall in the same boat as getting Denayer back, Roberts back for a third time etc, the things that never happen.

If he does negotiate a release there will be clubs in top 5 leagues who will take a punt even as a squad player.

Jota seems a big character and there will inevitably be a feeling for him of what have I done going from main man to frozen out. However, realistically I don’t see him back here anytime soon.

Celtic have made no approach to try and bring Jota back to Parkhead.

Football Scotland understands that the Hoops are not considering a move to re-sign the Portuguese winger on loan despite the £25million man being bombed from the Al-Ittihad squad due to foreign player rules. There had been rumblings last weekend about the possibility of the playmaker being sounded out about a possible return to Glasgow, with ex-striker Frank McAvennie suggesting he'd heard that may be doable.



Sources have confirmed, however, that no movement has been made by Brendan Rodgers or the Scottish champions regarding what would be a major swoop considering the hefty price they sold him for.



We told recently how Jota had hoped to rip up his contract in Saudi following the disastrous move but that idea was turfed out by the club who looked to consider alternative options


Fenerbahce were linked with a loan transfer for the 24-year-old while Steven Gerrard's Al-Ettifaq side did actually have a move on the table before the two parties failed to nail down terms before the deadline.

 

As much as we could benefit from his talents, he decided to leave for an unknown league for mega money, turning down a ht at the CL and furthering his career with a european club (guaranteed he would have got a big move to EPL or likes at some point this season). I would say no, the old phrase..."youve made your bed..." etc. As difficult as it sometimes is we should always face forward and not look back.

 

As much as I’d like him back, this is the cold hard facts of it.

More money than harry kane earns. More money than Halland earns.. (after tax) money wise its hard to turn down when he's never going to reach that level of player.

 

I am split in all honesty. Who would turn down 200k / week? No one really, but on the other hand, earning 35-40k per week is also insanely much money, and playing here developes him further as a footballer which Saudi does not. So he chose money over the sport plain and simple, but i would probably take him back.

40k per week for 10 years as a footballer will easily, easily set you for a life of luxury. But 200k will set you and you're family, kids, grandkids etc for life. He have probably earned 2,5 million already just from playing there 10 weeks with bonuses.

 

This is going to be the new Paddy Roberts style rumour every window.
