We need to lick our wounds and learn from our mistakes and our naivety. If we do, I can see us getting a few points in this group - maybe enough to keep us playing European football next season.

We were a bit unlucky at times - and the ref was a horrid * - but it’s frustrating to see us making the same kinds of mistakes over and over. Positives were us took the game to them at times early on, and we didn’t look totally out of our depth. Another good game from Scales. We need to be quicker on the ball and braver with our passing. We’re not done yet though, keep the faith!

Before VAR though. Surely if the ref hasn't seen it he should go have a look at it?

Every season we go into this tournament with weak players who we all know need replaced.

They know they get the bulk of the money for the 6 games and then possibly EL after that …

The prize for them is just qualifying … after that failure makes little difference.

In total this year alone Desmond will get approx £53mn in interest payments after tax on his fortune. He should spend some of that on new quality players. He’s valued at £2.2bn

Imma * off a lot of people, because of the whole "he's gone now, * move on from it".

But we looked far more threatening under Ange.

Glorious failures tonight but I don't see how we perform any better against more seasoned teams in Lazio and Atletico.

Spending money or not, we are so far away from having whatever "it" is to get results at this level.

Down to 9 men and only loosing by 2 goals in reality is a good result. Groups miles from finished and the other two teams don't look great either. We've got a chance here. Go into the final game with it all yo play for and we'll smash this mob.

Was thinking the same, she was embarrassingly bad.

Nothing else for it mate. We were absolutely still in that game until two daft lapses in judgement.

Think that's a fair summary. Not sure you'll get many more buyers tonight though.

That feels like an opportunity missed tonight as they looked lost without their striker for most of that first half and had a mistake in them trying to play out from the back.

If we are to do anything in this group we need to take better care of the ball when we have it. The way we give it away at times under virtually no pressure is ridiculous.

We also can’t do anything in Europe giving away such cheap goals as the freekick was. The wall was terrible but it still should have been saved it had virtually no pace on it.

I do feel cheated by the Lagerbielke sending off though and failing to award Maeda a penalty right at the start of the game.

He's not our sugardaddy owner, we run well within our means and should have been able to upgrade on a couple of players with the money we have, the value of his other businesses and investments is irrelevant, we should never be in the position of needing him to personally dip his pockets, that's what the huns do every season with their share issues to keep the lights on, because they have to.
