In no parallel universe are we going to try and play an untried and untested 3 at the back formation in our first Champions League game, away from home, with a centre half injury crisis on our hands.

    I would go

    Hart
    Phillips, Gustaf, Scales
AJ, O’Riley? , Cal Mac, Maeda?
    Palma? , Reo
    Kyogo
I have a few debates if Iwata had been played recently I’d go him for O’Riley and Matt in for Palma, the other debate being Maeda at LWB/LM or to try Reo there. If CCV was available it would be Scales LWB in a 3-4-1-2 with Maeda and Kyogo up top.

If we go three at the back which is very debatable to say the least we have to use Maeda up front with Kyogo to have any chance of success.

    Hart

    Johnston
    Lagerbielke
    Phillips
    Scales
    Taylor

    McGregor
    Hatate
    O'Riley

    Maeda
    Kyogo

I'm afraid reality will hit home on Tuesday night from a poor transfer window and a lack of backing from the board who don't seem to bother we could get a few skelpings .
If we can keep it under 3 goals and keep the score respectable then that's something but the board need to get the finger out if you want us to play in this competition.

Feyenoord have hit 17 in their last 3 games, perked up after a poor start. I think we need to play quite defensive, although not sure we have DCM to really do that.

I don't have any predictions before the game.
The fact CCV is not available, worries me - although we seem to be much better covered in this area now.

Abada's injury is a blow as Jueng might not be ready for such challenge.

And Kyogo needs to be kept wrapped in cotton wool - can't afford not having him playing.

Whatever happens - we absolutely must ensure spring time European football.
This Team (an the fans) deserve it.

Iwata would be the only one in the squad but he’s not even getting in the domestic match day squad at the moment and no mention of an injury.

I think we will really struggle on Tuesday night. Feyenoord seem to have been where we were as a team struggling for form and with key injuries but started to emerge out of the other side and with their quality additions now integrated in their team.

Where I think the second half yesterday was encouraging and a step in the right direction we definitely haven’t integrated our new signings yet and are just starting to get some of our injured players back. I actually think come matchday 6 this could be a cracking game back at Celtic Park.

On watching the Feyenoord highlights they look ropey at the back and susceptible to movement and pace so that counts in our favour but their midfield looks powerful with good energy and their front line clinical when given a chance.

Given we could have lost two goals to Dundee yesterday I fear something like a 4-1 or 4-2 defeat.

My heart says we can get a result but my head says we won’t. It will take our best performance of the season by some way to get a result.

We'll be playing a less open game than we did against Dundee so hopefully limit chances. Pace of the CBs I'm wairy of. Nobody looks that fast to avoid the electric counter they possess. I'm going to be optimistic and say we've got a chance of a 2-2.

1 point on the board. Massive result if we achieve it.

    Really like the look this.

Loved Ange’s mentality about not changing our system and taking the game to our opponents at the top level but realistically it’s never going to get us results.

We need to be pragmatic to a certain degree and I think Rodgers will know this from his first spell. This type of formation would make sure we are solid off the ball but still carrying a threat going forward.

Johnston and Maeda capable of carrying the ball 40-50 yards upfield. O’Riley and Hatate playing the killer ball on the counter.

Aye, it is a risk but professional players should be able to adapt to any formation.. for me it's more of a risk going with our usual 4-3-3 with Taylor being exposed at LB and the midfield, without a DM being run over the top of..

We all wanted a LB and a DM in the summer because we knew they were needed for Europe, so without them, he needs to change the system for me.

They've had a flying start to the season.

Gonna be a very difficult game in a hot atmosphere. Luka Inavusec a player they picked up for about £8m and who we should have been AFTER...has started really well. Unsurprisingly.

Not expecting us to get anything from this game, our defence can get exposed in the SPFL, ain't gonna be pretty in the CL.

Hoping the team can prove me wrong.

He may change the system at one point, it may even be on Tuesday in a different way, but he’s not playing 3 centre halves when we’ve barely cobbled together 2 the past 2 games.

Any CB pairing or trio have been cobbled together last 2 games.

So if we’re toiling to get a partnership together why then would we exasperate the issue by playing 3 at the back instead? It makes literally zero sense.

In an ideal world with CCV, Welsh and Rocky available playing 3 at the back actually makes plenty sense but we’re months away from that.

Genuine question: do any good teams play a starting back 3? I mean an actual back 3 rather than a situational one with a CDM dropping in or a FB tucking in and winger moving back to FB in certain game situations (frankly, we don't have the players for that).

It might just be my ignorance, but I thought football had moved on from that.

Hoping our pace up top can really trouble them as they'll go for us..

Still hopeful of getting something, although I know it's gonna be a tough task..

If we could grab the first goal and no concede early....then you never know. If they start fast and we concede, it'll be a long night..

    Turnbull better no start here..

Hatate, McGregor and O'Riley to start..

Has Holm ever played on the right wing? He has that pace and ability to carry the ball that we could do with....coming inside to outnumber Feyenoord in the middle..

Unlikely but even a diamond with Maeda and Kyogo up top?
