On the West Ham updates on the game

The Celtic fans are back in full voice, and I have to say, their fans have been pretty impressive tonight.

Their last song was a pretty catchy number too! They will however be disappointed with what they've seen this evening.

Even at this level we can't compete anymore as all our best young players will keep getting poached by EPL clubs. Wonder how long it will actually be before we get another McGregor, Tierney or a player of that calibre, coming through our academy and actually making appearances at first team level.

    WEST HAM UNITED... 5
    (Mubama 10, 48, Marshall 22, 28, Orford 56)

    CELTIC... 0

It was a disappointing start to the Premier League International Cup campaign for Celtic FC B as the young Hoops lost out 5-0 to West Ham United in London.

The team didn’t get off to the best of starts in their opening game of this competition as they found themselves one goal down inside 10 minutes.

A delivery into the box wasn’t dealt with by the Hoops defence, and Divin Mubamba was on hand to tap home his first goal of the night.

Just over 10 minutes later, the Hammers were able to grab a further two goals to extend their advantage before the break.

The first of two players to grab a brace, Callum Marshall’s first goal came off the back of an impressive stop from Josh Clarke, with the midfielder scoring the rebound.

Marshall then netted his second five minutes later just before the half-hour mark, producing a smart finish past Clarke.

The Hoops’ best moments in the game came on the counter-attack, with Rocco Vata doing well on a number of occasions to press the West Ham backline, but ultimately, they failed to really trouble Joseph Anang between the sticks.

Heading into the second half, the home side quickly added a fourth as Mubama grabbed his second of the game, scoring in a similar fashion to his first goal from close-range following a cross into the box.

The English Premier League Academy side rounded off the scoring and made it 5-0 just before the hour mark as Lewis Orford added to the scoring.

Picking up the ball outside the area, the substitute lifted his head and smashed the ball into the bottom corner of the net, leaving Clarke with no chance.

While it was a disappointing start to the Premier League International Cup for Celtic, they will have to quickly pick themselves up for more action as they travel to take on Feyenoord in the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday afternoon.

CELTIC: Clarke, Bonetig (Agbaire 46), Frame (Osagie 58), Ure (Quinn 58), Robertson, Carse, Dede (Bonnar 70), Thomson, Vata, Cummings (Davidson 46), Mackenzie.
    Subs: Morrison, Agbaire, Dobbie

If Vata played the full 90 I'm guessing he won't even be on the bench tomorrow? Hate to say it but the lad needs to get away from this club. It's painfully obvious we don't care about the youth squads.

Surprised Bonetig immediately played, he must only be here a few days. Must rate him to do that.

Seen a thing the last night about most money spent on players just now, West Ham’s 10th.

    Mental.

Harsh lesson but at the same time it’s the teams our boys need to be playing against.

Our B side has been let down massively regarding recruitment this summer.

He was with the team for a while back in ore season and things, I'd imagine he's been over for a while
