He's had a much better start to his Celtic career than GG did though.

We were looking for a striker because we have two of them.

Balde better than Stokes and McDonald suggests sample size matters too. That said, I do like him - he must be exhausting to play against.

Oh, not saying it doesnt. Absolutely 100% it totally does.

But what it does suggest that considering most of Oh's minutes have been scraped here and there from off the bench (again I say mostly), but that he can find the back of the net. That said, it is only considering league play, of which he has only had that 20min last week v Sevco this season, and all else before that in this sample size included in this stat is from last season in the Angeball system.

And what it also suggests is perhaps for all those that have been doubting him, think this stat should at least be taken into consideration that perhaps Oh is worth at least having some faith in and giving him a go rather than writing him off.

Looking at those stats, I still can't believe we let GG go. Boggles the mind.

It's too early to judge with Oh in my view, he's not had enough minutes to compare to the rest of them. But early signs suggest to me he's far from the level we require right now.

Giakoumakis wanted a 100% pay rise from ~£12k p/w to £24k p/w. He also wanted to be first choice. Was never going to happen here so him leaving was the best move for all parties.

Definitely all true. Really like him and hope he can make a go of if. Maybe Rodgers' tweaks to Kyogo's role suggests there can be two.

I think Oh is quality and better than Giakoumakis.

I liked Giakoumakis as well but Oh is faster, more technical, and as much of a unit and goalscorer. I think he's been superb when he's played.

If Kyogo was injured the rest of the season and Oh was playing every week and stayed fit theres no doubt he'd go on to score 25-30 goals and he has a really good allround game outside the box and running the channels etc

Hopefully Oh gets some time with Korea in this international window so that he is fully up to speed when we come back. For me I am excited to see what he can do this season as I thought he was looking very sharp come the end of pre-season. But that early injury has really disrupted his start to the season.

Think he's shown far more than some folk giving him credit for. Given the chance he can still be a very useful player for us this season I reckon. The fact we were maybe looking for another striker means * all, not like we've got loads of them.

Probably every paper that covered the story at the time. It wasn’t a secret. Dunno about exact numbers when it comes to the contract, but he wanted more money and to be the starting striker.

I really don't understand fans who write of Oh while crying about GG leaving, like he's some modern legend. He was an excellent goalscorer and we couldn't have asked for better backup at the time, but he was our backup striker for a reason, his all round game wasn't brilliant, he wanted to be no1 (and wages to match) and that was just never going to happen because Kyogo is a better player. It was best for him and us to move on.

Oh has done fine since he came in, his goals to minutes is as good as anyone, and from day one I think it's been obvious his physical attributes are a pretty good balance somewhere between Kyogo and GG, relatively big and strong but still very mobile, I really think he's going to be a cracking player for us, just a * he picked up an injury now.

Short memories, some on here wanted GG sold after 6 months because the only thing he'd done was miss a penalty.

I really don't understand fans that can't accept it's a mistake to flog a class striker for a few mil cos he whinged a bit about wanting more game time. If it was managed right we'd still have him and not have to rely on Oh should our somewhat delicate first-choice forward become injured. It was patently avoidable and no amout of optimism about Oh's future development can disguise the fact we massively traded down.

Some of the dumb * trying to write Oh off on here man...

The guy is clearly a good talent and not really had the opportunity GG had yet.

We were never going to drop Kyogo to give him the mnuites he wanted, and he was asking for bigger wages than we were willing to give a backup player, when he left in january we didn't lack for goals or miss him much at all really, it was best for both parties. And Oh has objectively contributed more in his first six months than GG did.

Honestly baffled by the level some fans are elevating GG up to, almost think it has to be a windup, as if he's some elite level player we've let go.

No amount of your complaining makes your point any more valid.

Kyogo is a far, far better player than Giakoumakis. GG was always going to be number 2 striker and he didn’t want to be. He wasn’t happy with coming on as a sub most games and getting the odd start here and there.

And Kyogo is too good to stick on the bench for a few games at a time, just to give an inferior player some game time. It makes no sense.

GG wanted more minutes, we couldn’t give him them because we have a better striker on our books - therefore he wanted to move. And we’ve not exactly missed him.

Why are you finding it so difficult to understand this?
