Watching it again, I don't actually know how many times I've gone through it now. Still easily the best show I've ever watched.

Feel old when realising anyone that’s becoming a young * these days is still to see the whole show

Just finished a rewatch. Hands down, the worst finish to a series ever. Brilliant watch up until that final scene.

I rewatched the first episode Richie comes into it the other day. Must have seen it about 20 times but still brilliant. What a character Richie was.

I think the nature of the story would have been better suited to something more definitive. The only reason it wasn’t, was because they didn’t want to rule out coming back at some point in the future. That was weak writing for a show that was never afraid to bite the bullet…pun intended!

I’ve never watched it but I’m gonna. Shocking from me.

But on the topic of endings. I obviously know how it ends as I feel like it’s widely known. Why do the majority of TV shows struggle with their finale?

They didn't * up the ending to Sopranos. It's genius.

I was really annoyed at the time but I now see it for what it was, a death scene. They practically feed you the ending the whole last season.

I’ll definitely be making my own judgement based on the context of the whole show when I watch it.

I’m not really that critical of shows with weaker endings, but there’s a weird part of the internet that can’t let these things go.

For me the ending is genius as well. It was left to be ambiguous and for people to make their own minds up.

Well until * done David Chase’s head in enough that he eventually came out and said Tony died just to shut everycunt up:giggle1:

I was a little disappointed with the ending when I first went through it, and I thought about it often, but in time and after considering the build up and some of the comments and previous episodes, I came to the realisation it was as close to a perfect series as you'll ever find.

The fact we are still debating it over 15 years later is testament to how good the ending was.

The ending was all about keeping their options open, which is fine, and they weren’t the last to do that. I think it’s a stretch to call it genius but each to their own.

Mate the ending was littered through the whole show, especially the last series. Sil was covered in Gerry Torciani's blood before he heard the gun shot. Tony and Bobby talked about how you wouldn't hear it coming, on the boat up at the lodge.

The final scene followed a pattern, wide shot of Tony, close in on Tony, bells rings and Tony looks up. Next shot you see is from Tony's pov. This happens every time until the last shot, which has happened 2 times previously, and the shot that was Tony's eyeline is black. Nothing. No music no gunshot just nothing.

It's a death scene, simple as.

Sorry lads, it's the most overrated series I've ever seen. 3 times I've watched it through and it doesn't get any better. 7/10 at best.

People have their opinions, but it was definitely a death as far as I'm concerned. Never heard it coming.

Was absolutely gutted when James Gandolfini passed away, not many celebs get me like that. Was getting messages from loads of pals and a phone call with my old man.

Aye the Italian looking boy that came in and went to the toilet to the side of Tony would be the killer. There's a bit in The Irishman about murdering people in a busy restaurant and DeNiro's character says something about some guys would go into the bathroom first.
