Aye it just looked like he was struggling with the system at first, but he's misplacing simple passes and his defending is non existant.

No idea what we do their until January, but we can't persist with Taylor, either give Scales or Bernabei an extended run or go 5ATB.

Would probably benefit from a game or two out tbh, scales allows us to do that.

i dont think Scales is mobile enough for LB his best position would be the left of 3 centre backs.

which opens up an option at left wing back.

which Dizen has the legs for

    Poor overall for me..

Was slightly better when he was inverted a bit more than recent games but was far too sloppy still..

I said it in the Maeda thread and I’ll get slaughtered for this but our options are so bad back there I’d try Maeda there

In the coming months we'll comfortably have enough centre half options to go 3 at the back. Maybe Maeda but someone on the wing who could play wingback and go for a lot of sides domestically at least..

Wouldn’t be against this idea in the champions league play him as a wing back in a 3-5-2 style of MON team.

He was poor on Sunday again. The fact we won the game, automatically makes some forget the bad parts. Perhaps similarly with Lagerbielke who I also thought was poor. Taylor must have passed the ball straight out the park 3 or 4 times in the first half an hour. There was also a moment first half where he totally switched off and allowed Cantwell (IIRC) to nip in ahead of him in our box, luckily it didn’t lead to anything. He just looks miles off it. In fact, I’m pretty sure the first thing he done on Sunday was allow a pass to by him only for him not to be able to keep it in and it went out for a throw.

Tbf, he was that good for Ange for 2 seasons, probably money well spent.

He can't start at LB in the CL.

We need to go 3-5-2 or something. There's no way he or Bernabei will survive at that level. I'm actually frightened at the prospect. Taylor done ok last year but he was still heavily targeted, and that was with a formation and style that majorly hid his deficiencies.

I reckon Holm and Yang can get in those sides somewhere though, especially Holm. Bernardo hopefully too. For me Abada's technical ability is too far off the required standard for Europe. Palma looks good enough from his videos/stats, but we'll have to wait and see.

There's a lot of talk about Taylor suffering due to us dropping the inverted full back set-up. And a lot of people suggesting formation/position changes as a result. But wouldn't it be much easier to just switch up the full back roles, and revert to the inverted set-up? I thought we saw some of that on Sunday. Taylor still had a poor game, but his confidence is shot so I don't think his specific instructions would have mattered much. But going forward, if he was playing the inverted role I think we'd see an improvement.

He definitely played more of an inverted role in the first half on Saturday, there’s no doubt about that. And it helped massively in how we controlled possession and built play.

That said, it only helps to hide his offensive faults - defensively he’s still shocking. We really had to improve the left back position if we had any hope of even being competitive in Europe.

I think Taylor with a settled defence is okay-ish. However I think he is struggling mainly due to the makeshift nature of our defence at the moment. He is no leader and needs strong players around him. At the current state he isnt even good enough as a back-up. Mentally he seems very weak.

He's fine as a rotation/squad option but as a club we should be aiming for better from our starting LB.

U forgot to mention the numerous times he gave the ball away from throw ins.

When you can't even throw it to a team mate you know its bad
