Aye, Johnston could cover and make it a 4 at the back when needed too..

Think Rodgers needs to change the system to put his own stamp on the team, but maybe when we get more players back..

Seems like we have learnt nothing from Ange.

Stringing out deals that we already knew were completing for days and then announce them 24 hrs before the window shuts.

It's like the good old days.

Get past Sunday with a draw at minimum and we'll have Hatate back after the winter break, which will bring some much needed fluidity to the midfield.

CCV and Nawrocki are expected back around October. I wouldn't rush either back into the fold but come the end of October I'd like to see us try the 3ATB formation, unless things have completely turned around with the current formation

You’ve got no idea about Kwon. Siegrest and Bain are simply back up keepers that you need. Turnbull on the list is wrong. Taylor is also an excellent back up for us to have.

Towards the end of last season I think everyone pretty much agreed that if we were to make a dent in Europe this season we needed a starting GK, LB, and DM at the very least, and that was working on the assumption that we didn't lose anyone important.

The fact we didn't manage to secure a single GK or LB within our structure that was better than a declining Joe Hart and an out and out fullback better than Taylor (who admittedly has done very well in the inverted role over the past 18 months) is effing laughable. Add that to our solution to the DM role being a £800k punt from the Korean second tier and serious questions need to be asked.

Cba going through every position but think we lack a bit of experience at CB outside CCV, the balance in midfield looks way off and we seriously need 2 of Yang/Tilio/Palma to hit the ground running to give us some creativity from the front 3.

Palma would need to use his left foot a lot in this system. If he hates doing it, then he can't be the WB. The likeliest choice for the role is Maeda, followed by...Bernabei:fear:

Ange has shown us that all the board care about is being slightly ahead of the blue tarts, which to me has become mind numbingly boring. Over the last few years, I've become increasingly bored with playing the same team 4-6 times a season. Twice a year keeps it interesting, six times a year just makes it whatever, who cares. Ange got me excited about stepping up in Europe lol but that's never happening. I honestly wouldn't be bothered if we never played the blue tarts again. The league needs revamping in my mind or we need to join a superleague and just get out. The thought of just existing to only slightly out perform the blue tarts season after season, while doing eff all in Europe is just 'meh' to me.

Moan over, now for a cuppa tea!

That looks decent and it's a shape Rodgers has used before so is a possibility it's just how strong Palma is defensively would be my only concern.
Would have preferred a left footed Centre back who could of played left back (Tierney would have been ideal) as that would the have allowed us to swith to a back 4 out of possesion.

I like the idea of peps 3241. Ange's australia team evolved to that and I thought it may have been something he had been looking at after his January signings.

Johnston a rb with experience of playing in a 3
    Kobiyashi a left footed cb
Iwata a defensive midfielder with experience of playing CB.

He had also spoke of Iwata allowing us to play with 2 sitters in euro games.

    Something along the lines of....

    Hart
    Johnston Ccv kobiyashi
    Iwata Mcgregor
    Jota o'riley Hatate Maeda
    Kyogo

Well never know now and kobiyashi being pish probably would have thrown a spanner in the works.

Shape could still work and think it would be ideal for Sunday given we know how the mole is gonna set them up. Narrow 4 in midfield and 2 up top altho on paper will initially look like a 433. It's same tactic him and slippy used for 2 years v us and in europe and he did same thing last season.

    Hart
    Johnston phillips Lagerbielke
    Iwata Mcgregor
    Yang o'riley bernardo palma
    Kyogo

That front 5 would absolutely kill their * defence and we'd get away with that back 3 due to their Total lack of width.

The issue with 3 at the back and wingbacks is how do we use the plethora of wingers we have at the club in Yang, Tillio, Abada, Maeda etc not even counting Forrest and Johnstone.

Jota and CCV provide an ideal and relatively risk-free model for improving our transfer philosophy. If you see a promising player but they're 5-10m, take them on a loan-to-buy and reduce your risk.

Persisting with gambles on cheap players from the * end of nowhere is pointless given they can't all get sufficient minutes. It's the sort of thing that makes sense if you're a wee team in the SPL strapped for cash, but we ought to be a step above that.

Still lost for words at how bad that windows been..

I cannot believe we haven't signed a left back. It's beyond me. We've a guy who doesn't even look like a footballer 9 times out of 10 and a slow, weak first team left back who looks out his depth as a traditional full back in this system. Dumbfounded..

We've had no striker on the bench and haven't addressed anyone up top..

We've needed pace and physicality in the middle and still haven't addressed it..

Talk of competing in Europe and adding quality....just just felt like nah, it'll come....surely it'll come....we're waiting for a reason. Well they've done a right number on us..

    Pathetic..

That's ridiculously cheap, maybe because it's after the window closed for the rest of Europe?

I think we always had a chance at getting him for a fee around that. If the rumours are true it was all about the wages.

    Must have been achievable. Surely.

They do pay more than us though for their big players. Suspect it was a case of palma for 10k a week or him for 50k and we've gulped.

No big loss in not getting podence, his numbers aren't that great, he's one you always think has done better than he actually has

Looking forward to seeing some of our new players come in. Sunday was beautiful but we must compound their pain by kicking on from this and going up an another level.

I think we will see Phillips in 2 weeks, I think Palma and Bernado probably as subs. Mainly due to the international break neither will be training much with us
