Don't think Cal has enjoyed that much space in his * life tbh. It was a total polar opposite to the usual.

I think this was a psychological win for us, there has been a bit of pressure on him due to the way he left, hopefully now this gives us confidence and kick starts our season.

Aye, in general we were quite poor. But the first 45 he literally ripped the pish. He was levels above their players and ours. Proper captain/leaders performance. Arguably his best yet, he just took control, bit of the broony laughing after getting nailed. Head n shoulders above anyone on the park.

It annoys * out of them that they don't have a player like him. It's great.

And Beale himself knows it too.
The gulf in know-how between Rodgers and Beale is monumental.

Biggest thing for me yesterday was the men in the dugout and the gulf between them. Rodgers found a way to go to Ibrox with a threadbare defence, and on another day, we would have scored a few more. He waited for Beale to try and change things, and as soon as they made subs, he simply countered them. He is a top manager, no doubt about it.

Or they think that Raskin is somehow their McGregor. Which is miles away from the truth.

I advocated for us to sign that Raskin when he was basically a cheap punt. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone slow the game down as much in my life when they were trying to keep the pressure on us second half.

They try and * on him all the time saying he isn't that good, but he is. Sometimes you don't always see what he does because he doesn't have a ton of assists or goals but he keeps things moving and organised. They have Cantwell who tries to be a wind up merchant but the reality is us and supporters of all teams just laugh at him. They have Tavernier as Captain and Goldson as vice captain, both bottle merchants. I think it shows how important a good captain is. Do they really have a leader in their team, Davis probably was one but he's gone.

Agree with your post but was Davis not sat on their bench yesterday?

I did feel the other midfielders helped him get more space, wasn't as isolated.

Numerous times he looked surprised at the space had to drive at.

Even if they do go on a run of sorts they are always going to know our manager is levels above theirs and will get it right much more often than them.

Be very surprised if they mount a serious challenge.

That’s the first I’ve seen the proper tactical approach you expect from Rodgers since he’s been back.

How the midfield shaped up, particularly first half was excellent. Calmac as a proper lynchpin building attacks, and the positions that Turnbull and O’Riley were taking up starved them of any options.

There biggest threat and only real tactic is balls to attacking fullbacks high up the pitch, he allowed them to work the ball to Raskin. Turnbull and O’Riley would take up a position to cut out the pass to the midfielders RM/LM ball would go to their full backs far too low down the field to do any damage.

Turnbull’s getting a lot of stick, and he was shocking on the ball so I get why but his positioning defensively was * excellent. Cantwell and Tavernier is the only people they turn to, the spaces he was taking him didn’t let them get the ball where they wanted and they went for long balls, that they almost got a bit of joy out of as well but you could tell how disciplined a performance in midfield it was.

And that is what I really expect from a Rodgers team.

Just reading back the last few posts got me thinking.

With the exact same players, would Ange have got the same result.

Absolutely both BR and Ange have game plans, but I think the difference is in game management. Ange is plan A from 1st to last minute. Where I think BR will adapt to personal and circumstances. Which I thought was clear yesterday.

Folk will say what does it matter, but I think over the season, we'll see more pragmatism at times.

It was an absolute masterclass yesterday. Utilised the players at his disposal to full effect and completely nullified their, admittedly basic, gameplan.

Went long when we had safe in the knowledge that we knew exactly what was coming back at us if the ball never fell to a Tim.

Could easily have been 3-1 than 1-0.

Might be why we didn't make any big signings.

Was too easy for him last time around. Fancied a challenge this time :86:

This is the single biggest factor in me getting on board with BR coming back early doors. Was frustrating at times with Postecoglou being stubborn with his tactics, feel a lot better now having seen BR's work in action. Will be huge for us
