He did get the game winning assist in the League Cup Final to be fair to him.

Might be a far off shout, but I get the feeling he's taking more of a leadership role within the group.

There’s adjusting to a new system and there’s just simply being pretty * technically. Maeda is the latter.

We’ve always accepted his weaknesses because of his work rate and attitude, but that only gets you so far.

He’s a woeful technical footballer. First touch is usually *, finishing is terrible, dribbling and ability to go past a player with a bit of skill is non-existent.

He has to be a back up striker. Never a winger for a club like Celtic.

To me I actually think he is a player made for playing in a weaker team in a league, could either stick him up top himself as an out ball, counter attacking striker or supporting a big unit of a striker as the one who does the the running.

His technical ability is dreadful but that would be more hidden as he wouldn’t be on the ball as much. He is also very much a confidence player.

He could do that sort of role well in bottom half of the league team in most bigger leagues.

He doesn’t suit a possession heavy team at all.

You’re being too kind, he’s never a back up striker for us either. Can you imagine having to rely on him, considering all the technical issues you have correctly listed??

I don't know. Just get him back to Ange ball, he's grand at that.

Slated the guy when he joined for his lacklustre finishing but fk me, this guy is a machine.

Non-stop running and forcing mistakes. What a guy!!!

Say what you want about him on the ball but absolutely needed his graft in there today. He was excellent.

    Did Tavernier play today btw?

He played a very important role today. Should've had a goal. Did well.

Great game today. Annoyed the life out of them and provided good cover for Taylor.

Games like today are why it annoys me when people call him * and barely a football player.

Against low blocks like St Johnstone, Dundee and Kilmarnock, he isn't effective, and I think the manager will realise that with Palma now being an option, but against Rangers, Hearts, Aberdeen etc he's incredibly useful.

Should have had a goal today, some graft from him overall.

Said it the other day even if Maeda isn't in a good run of form he has to start against them, tav is still their most important player going forward and he completely nullifies him every time.

With any luck, he could have had a goal from the 1st Kyogo chance, and an assist for Oh. Kept Tavpen in his box.

Also another tap in if Abada passed.
