Not Actually that Crucial a Summer as of August 2023...beginning to now think everything isnt fine!

Every transfer is a gamble of sorts.. we've signed potential rather than more established players, think you need a balance between both.

High hopes for all our signings tho until proven wrong.. time will tell.. we'll get an idea what Lagerbielke is about come Sunday I'm guessing, for example..

It's the areas we've failed to strengthen , that's the real concern.

 

Currently have 32 1st team players on the books.

At least 12 aren't good enough and shouldn't be here.

We don't half like to stockpile mediocrity

 

The biggest issue this window has been the overall reduction in sexiness in the squad.

 

We're overloaded with failed cheap punts and yet we've taken on half a dozen more this summer. If you can't fit these guys into the team, you can't advertise and sell them, meaning they just sit around collecting dust and wages. It's a brainless strategy that we're obsessed with.

 

Our injuries make it look much worse than it actually is,

3 wingers, 3 Centre backs, 4 midfielders

A left back would've been good, but GT is still a player as we seen last year. Only criminal bit is not signing a keeper. All in all, could've been worse

 

Whats cheap about the punts? £2 - 4 mill a punt aint cheapn where I come from.

 

I am genuinely stunned that I am sitting here at nearly midnight and after an entire Summer transfer window we have not had 1 marquee signing, we have not signed a left back and there has barely been a whisper about a new GK (the least concern for me this Summer).

Injuries aside, this transfer window can only be seen as absolute kick in the teeth of the supporters who are paying so much of their hard-earned money to see the team week in, week out. Football is not just a business, and whilst I support and admire the fact we have a healthy bank balance and understand the need to be frugal and prudent, the custodians of the club also have a duty to do their utmost to better the first team of Celtic FC.

I think we were all gutted when Ange left, but only in these last few weeks watching him become the new EPL darling in interviews and comments online, do I feel I really see the difference he alone made with the board and backroom behaviours of the clubs. Yes, he made bad signings, but something has felt off since the early burst of prospects.

If results and performances don't pick up quickly I think the simmering anger with many of the supporters will quickly boil over.

 

Taylor will get rinsed by any reasonable European team, as we’ve seen before. He also doesn’t suit the way Rodgers has us/wants us playing.

A left back was every bit as important as a goalie.

 

I'll take your word for it mate as I have no idea how Rodgers wants us to play at this point

 

Don’t know why I’m still refreshing bbc. Ffs not happy that we haven’t addressed two clear positions that needed upgrading in left back and gk….. hopefully the lads we’ve signed step up n do the business

Lagerbielke, Yang, Tilio and Maeda as rotation options. Wouldn't be for every game of course, but it'll be interesting to see what Rodgers does when everyone's fit, anything to get Taylor out the team tbh.

You can't make profits on players the manager won't play due to not wanting them in the 1st place.

On the other hand we spend £6m on Jota and sold him for £27m minus benfica's cut.

Signing quality players and moving them on should be the business model not hoping a random punt on some guy from the 2nd division in Korea for 800k works out.

 

Schmeichel isn’t an upgrade on Hart in the slightest. Declined massively at Leicester, fell out with Rodgers, continued to decline at Nice and got released.

He’s probably on par with Hart and not worth the years wage.

I always wondered if this was his plan when we signed Rocky. His playstyle really suited a back 3. I think starfelt leaving and the injuries delayed this plan.

 

Not replacing Hart and Taylor will bite us in the * so many times between now and January especially in Europe

 

Who's playing LB then? Or backup RB when AJ needs a rest?
