We needed quality and match winners apparently. We’ve signed a guy from Benfica on loan. Not counting Phillips as that was an emergency. Palma was done last week.

 

No. We have just signed 9 promising players. One of them on a very similar deal to Jota. Do you think we have lost the ability considering we have the same scouting network that we had when we signed Jota. Are you assuming our scouts who identified Jota have just given up?

 

You were the one that said no way were we bringing in someone with the same level of ability as Jota. Why? Is it not the same scouts who found Jota that are at the club?

Jota came to us as an unknown quantity. We developed him into the player he is. My point is valid. We can sign players who were at similar level to Jota when he joined us, not when he left us

 

There wasn’t a huge difference to be honest, if any. His numbers were almost identical both years as well.

 

How do you know the wingers we’ve signed to replace him won’t be able to produce similar qualities?

Also, Kwon could turn out to be like Victor Wanyama for all we know, who was also very much a project/gamble on the cheap.

I get the frustration at the fact we don’t buy ready made players able for the CL, and I’m also scratching my head at us not signing a LB and a GK (although I had a strong feeling BR would be content with Hart). However I’m not sure why people are disappointed with the ones we have signed. The jury is still out on them.

 

Wasn’t Jota pointed out to us by a club contact/agent? Don’t think he was actually scouted.

I’m not writing them off. I just expected more to be honest. The fact Rodgers said a few weeks ago that we needed first team ready players brought in suggests that they aren’t ready to step into the starting eleven.

My point is you are relying on the scouts and using Jota as an example of good scouting when somebody external to the club recommended Jota to the club.

 

Look at his stats both seasons he was with us. He didn’t vastly improve, if at all. He was a top player when we first got him, and that continued second season. Done talking * .

 

can you provide any evidence that Jota has never been scouted By Celtic ?

 

Your clearly missing the point. If you didn’t see any improvement in Jota in the years he was with us then your not watching enough games

 

Did you check his numbers aye? I seen every game Jota played for us, was at most of them in fact. There wasn’t a huge difference in him. In fact, I’d argue he was better first season slightly. From Xmas on last season, although he got important goals, his overall game dipped.
