Celtic in Europe 2023-24

None of those teams look like a PSG, Man City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan who on their day could annihilate us. In that respect its a very good draw. At home with a bit of luck we could pick up a couple of wins.

 

Good draw, compared to what it could have been, and with a bit of luck injury wise/players signed 3rd spot should be within our reach/ability so let the ego earn his money.

 

I had to run to the chemist to get my prescription after the draw as it shut at 6.

A guy came in with a Celtic top on. I asked him if he had seen the draw. Naw he said who did we get.

I couldn't * remember

 

All I really ask for is something to play for on the last game. That would do me.

 

Thats a very decent draw. Hopefully we can secure 3rd place or better. fun places to visit too

A first home win in the champions league in 10 years, let’s start there

 

I was saying this on here only a month ago. That we never get a group where we miss the big mob i.e Barca, Man City, Bayern, Real Madrid....all those. Well here we have it. At last.

Problem is that if we get well beat in a few of these fixtures then it'll look even worse on us than getting well beat off one of the big mob. You write those games off when you draw the big teams in Europe. In this group ideally we should be looking to take points off every one of these teams. Athletico will probably be the favourites to win the group. But if Brendan can make a couple of last minute quality signings and get us up to speed quickly then we should be competing for 2nd place at the very least

But whats weird about it is I'd prefer 3rd place. To take all the Champions League money from the group stage. Parachute into the Europa League where we have a much more realistic chance of competing. Cause everyone knows that if we do negotiate the Champions League group stage and do get through. Then we'll go out in the next round to one of the big mob

 

It's no a bad draw but we should be better equipped for this than we are right now. Plenty money in the bank so there's no excuses. People in the club are not doing their job right in identifying the right players and getting them in asap.

 

I'd have backed us to get out that group last year. This year I'd be impressed with 3rd. You never know.

 

Did atletico not finish bottom of a pretty favourable group last season? While I agree they’re big favourites and I don’t really fancy our chances against them it’s not out the question that they might not turn up

 

Wow! I did not realise Brugge got 2nd from that group last year. Ronny's going to have a hard time living up to that!

 

This place is mental . A few hours ago we were going to struggle domestically and now we're going to beat 2 from Lazio, Atletico Madrid or Feyenoord to second in the group.

 

That is such a disappointing statistic since we bossed it at paradise from 2001 - 2013

 

Very good draw , when do the fixtures get released ?

 

Me too. Everyone knows that we're not going to do JS in the CL; but we're that used to underperforming in Europe by now that I honestly think folk underestimate how doable a run in the EL is (depending on the draw).

 

We're getting beaten like last year's CL. Maybe not all will be trouncings, but we will finish last. Any draw would be like that, because we are terrible right now.
