Not Actually that Crucial a Summer as of August 2023...beginning to now think everything isnt fine!

Well aye the first 11 is weaker at the moment mainly due to injuries, but we've only lost 3 players so far, let's see how the new boys settle in.

I think the problem with signings is players and their agents wait to the last minute to see what's on the table. Thats the reason you'll see last minute talks going on right up to the deadline.

 

Happens every year, players/agents/teams all over wait to see how the qualifiers unfold before pulling the trigger on buying/releasing players, but for some reason a group of our fans keep convincing themselves that it's an active choice we're making to do everything last minute because we're just so uniquely incompetent, if we want a player we should just go out and get them it's that simple, there's no other factors involved, and if we're linked to a player that doesn't come to us it's not because they have free will to make other choices, it's 100% because we * it.

 

If they are so hard to get, how did we sign Nawrocki and Holm? We can do our signings early, but no, our board can't get things organized.

 

Still got over a day left, but I really hope we see a LB rumour either the next few hours.

 

Some players are willing to move and some aren't, some teams don't want to let their players go til after the qualifiers, not everyone is in the same situation, it really isn't that complicated.

Do you question why if we were able to sign Kyogo in the middle of july why did we wait to sign Jota/JJ/GG on deadline day? Because that's when they were willing/able to come here, we didn't just choose not to sign them til then for a laugh.

You're kind of proving my point about fans naively thinking we can just go out and get any player at any time and there are no other factors involved, it's just not how it works in the real world.

In all seriousness, looks like a strong end to the window. Just wish we had done it sooner and we’d be going to Ibrox full of confidence and probably still in the LC.

 

It’s the LB I’m waiting on as to whether this is going to be a successful window or not.

Assuming the others linked sign a good quality LB could really be the difference.

 

Mate, watch sky sports deadline day on Friday. Loads of business getting done last minute, that's how it works. Agents and players waiting to see what the options are.

 

I'm sure someone said on this forum the deadline day coverage is there just to create views and that clubs are asked to delay deals until that day. It is better to have a gelled squad, and not be at the mercy of the selling club.

 

Easier for the agent to squeeze that extra 5k a week out of a desperate team etc.

 

We have to be signing a LB too.

There’s no way Rodgers can say we need to start buying quality and match winners. Then only sign 1 winger at 3.5m and a CM prospect on loan.

(Not including Phillips as that was forced, and BR didn’t know we needed that when he was interviewed after Killie)

 

I'd say the 3.5m winger is qaulity. The midfielder on loan (if we have an option to buy) could also be qaulity.

The defender imo is a cracking piece of business.. why we can't do it at that speed more often.

Otherwise yes your right. A LB imo is essential. I'd say we'll get 2 more in now the English window closes before us.

These two were never options that needed to be replaced. Ajeti especially- he was not someone counted upon. We're fine, Oh is coming back as well. The money aimed at getting Podence and SvH is better spent on a last-minute GK deal.

 

Hopefully sneak a few in the door whist Lawwell is in Monaco..
