Time to bring back Jack Hendry, then. He does his best work going sideways and backwards.

Unfortunately the ball would come straight back to us as we don't have any tall target men up front so we are between a rock and a hard place on what we should do. I'm sure our tactical genius will have a plan:fear:

Need to pull the finger out for this and give them a surprise despite how poor we’ve been

Right this just popped into my head and don’t wanna be lynched here but just curious of what people think. Say we get in phillips or another centre back before deadline, anyone think it would be better to throw them in and go for a back 4 of:

    Aj Lagerbielke Phillips Taylor

    or

    AJ Lagerbielke Phillips Scales

and try go for a more defensive physical approach…. Perhaps have AJ get forward in attack and revert to a back 3 with Callum sitting in front and having a bit more cover.
or would it be better to go with Taylor n try have him go central and help join in the plays?

Taylor has been rubbish this season, but actually performs well in this fixture..

Any Celtic player who needs to pull the finger out against the huns doesn't deserve to wear the jersey.

Yeah I’m just wondering what thoughts are, could be a different tactical approach. Adding scales in for Taylor and maybe Palma would add some more height/physicality and could work better for us for set pieces at both ends. I’d personally rather Taylor at left back over scales as I think the full backs will be instructed to get forward and Taylor will be better/more mobile than scales in doing so. But say if we had scales in then we could let AJ get up and support the RW (Yang) while scales stays back left side of a back 3 with Mcgregor in front. The left winger will stay high and one of the cms could give him a hand…. Dunno I’m just interested to how rodgers will approach this game cause surely he can’t go with the same tactics as the 2 previous games

That was under Ange though mate, where he was effectively a midfielder, and helped control the game with Calmac. Rodgers wants him to be a more conventional LB, and he clearly can't do it. Too small, slow and weak.

I don't think everything is lost although they are favourits for Sunday. They won't sit back and therefore open up spaces. This is playing into the strengths of our wingers who are not made to shine against teams like Killie and St. Johnstone. Hopefully we can take them by surprise early on. But we need to enjoy the rub of the green, as I thing the suitable saying goes :ynwacelti

I noticed at the weekend that on the right hand side AJ was overlapping like a conventional fullback and Maeda was going inside.

But over at the left hand side Yang was going out wide and Taylor was inverting. So I think Rodgers is maybe starting to see Taylor's strengths.

    Bit early i know but

    Hart

    Johnston
    Phillips
    Lagerbielke
    Hopefully a new back

    McGregor
    Holm
    O’Riley

    Palma
    Kyogo
    Maeda

Doubt Bernardo will start this one. The others are far more experienced but then the argument is is he Holm that more experienced than him..

I'm hoping we get a quality left back to throw in and someone up top and I'd stick them all in..

I really don’t know what to think about Sundays game, I will just be grateful if we don’t get pumped.

Holm had a start against Kilmarnock and couldn't impose himself. He's not played the last game. I don't think he or Turnbull will start. I'm not sure what does Rodgers expect Bernardo to do, or how will he use him. But I think either he starts, or one of our destroyers. Since I don't see Bernardo as a defensively oriented player, it should be Iwata.

Palma is good, but Yang has earned a start at the midden IMO. Hasn't had a bad outing at all, and in the last one he tormented the StJ defense, but Rodgers' tinkering with Kyogo's role * us up. But Luis can get 25 minutes from the bench- no issues.

Extra time and last minute goal for psv would be good for Sunday

I think so, aye. What's clear so far and from his previous spell is that he really struggles against teams that sit in a low block. Even the Aberdeen game this year, they came right at us which caused us problems, but allowed us to play our game a bit more too.

Their confidence wasn't because they're a good side. It was simply because of our last 2 games and some injuries..

We've a chance to step up and start motoring. Let's see what we're made of..
