No chance Turnbull starts on Sunday..

Hopefully we sign a Doyle or something to come straight in but if we don't and he goes with Turnbull instead of Holm or even Iwata...I want him sacked on the spot....and I'm 100% no joking..

Due to the fact he is a natural cdm and is more mobile than turnbull and o'riley put together, I dread to think of the field day cantwell will have should those 2 both start. He also came on against them last season amd put in a solid performance and shored the game up when they were gaining momentum.

You got any good reasons why he shouldn't start?

Iwata is the best option, but even Kwon wouldn't be a blunder. He had a good half when we were absorbing pressure against Wolves. Yes, one very bad half against Bilbao made people write him off. But he's got more qualities innate to a CDM than McGregor. Height being the big trump card. We'll concede some set pieces, and extra height wouldn't go amiss.

He's done nothing to merit a starting place since he got here that's why and the last time he was on the field for us he had a shocker. I remember that game you refer to against sevco and Iwata did ok but I certainly don't recall it as being the game-changing performance you're hyping it up to be. Two different mangers now, including Ange who wanted Iwata here, have not been that eager to give him a run in the side or even a start. What does that tell you? As I said, he's on the bench for a reason and this Hype is a classic example of a player looking better by not playing.

He's on the bench for a reason? What's the reason a lot of the players that are starting this season are on the pitch for then because they aren't showing anything to merit that? If you think turnbull amd o'riley should start together against them at ibrox then I just do not know.

Mate, there is every chance he starts on Sunday. He is literally a first choice central midfielder just now.

If he doesn’t either we’ve signed someone and are taking a Hail Mary or he throws a curve ball with an Iwata or Kwon.

This is a thread about Iwata not Turnbull or O'Riley but if you want to know my thoughts on them....they have their moments but are unreliable Turnbull especially and neither has a defensive game. O'Riley also doesn't punch anything like his weight for a man his size. Why are players starting now when not in form? Well, no one at the club is in form ATM but someone has to play and the difference with guys like Taylor, Maeda and Abada say, starting when out of form is that they have had periods of good form for us in the past and have earned the right to be given a chance. Iwata doesn't have that past form in the good-will bank as they do.

It sounds like Doyle will either be part of the Nunes deal that brings him to City and Doyle goes to Wolves. Or he wants to go back to Sheffield Utd.

Aye mate the thread is about iwata but if you're saying he shouldn't start does that mean we can't discuss the alternative because it's the iwata thread fs.

Maeda shouldn't be starting either, and that's irrelevant to whether iwata should start because when has turnbull ever had a long period of good form? Your logic to not starting him isn't holding up there at all.

Isn't it? It's fairly simple. None of our players is in form ATM but we still have to pick a starting 11 so the best we can do is look to the players who normally do the job for us. Maeda, Taylor, O'Riley and even Turnbull have done far more in a Celtic Jersey than Iwata. That doesn't mean them playing on Sunday is ideal but ATM it's probably the best option. That logic not only 'holds up' but is common sense to most people. Iwata may yet do a turn for us but all this talk that 'he MUST start' as if we've been keeping one of the world's best DM's on the bench for no reason is over the top. Pretty sure I never said people couldn't discuss alternatives either.

He would start for me at Ibrox. I would play Iwata and McGregor as a double pivot and O’Riley in front of them. It would give us a midfield 3 all comfortable on the ball but with added energy and mobility in Iwata.

If he doesn't start away matches like this in the middle of an injury crisis, I have no idea why he was signed on a permanent. It's not like he's 'one for the future'.

He hasn't had a sniff all season, that's the worry in throwing him in on Sunday.

Common sense to most people? Start a poll there sure and see how many would prefer turnbull at ibrox over iwata. Been a while since I seen so much misplaced arrogance on here:56:

It's a pity as he'd 100% be starting for me. Just not gonna happen though.

Are you just deliberately trying to not get my point? I can only assume so because I've explained it in simple terms twice now and you still don't seem to understand. As for Turnbull I don't rate him that much and would like to have better options but at least he has 20 or so goals for us and has created a good few chances during his time here. Your man Iwata has done * ALL. Not one thing of note. And that is a fact whether you like it or not.

Are you not seeming to understand that regardless of how many goals turnbull has scored he is the exact opposite to what we will need in the middle of the park at ibrox? No dig? No fight, no mobility, no defensive capabilities.

I am all for him playing on Sunday, amazed he's not been given more time. Double pivot with McGregor on Sunday with O'Reily further forward. We need more power in there or they'll run over us. Iwata can also play a bit.

Turnbull had previous for going missing at ibrox. He's a modern day version of Forrest when this fixture comes around.
Cant be anywhere near the team on Sunday.
