Before my time so I don't remember him for them, but generally should it matter that much? 20 games for them as a foreigner hardly makes him a died in the wool Hun.

Would take Mikel Arteta as manager in a * heartbeat too btw.

Desmond needs to * off and take Peter lawwell with him and when your giving Welsh a new contract and bringing on Forrest to change the game you can see the ambition from the board * zero .
I don't mind bringing in players like projects but one or two is fine but you don't fill your squad with them .
Again the board looking to buy cheap and make a profit down the line but we need proven established players who will go straight into the side to make it better.
We needed the priority signings through the door weeks ago of goalkeeper and left back and a quality midfielder and even another striker but going into the last week of the window none have came in its a * shambles from the board .
The last two games we didn't have a striker to come off the bench and maybe go two up front with kyogo to get a goal it's a total cluster * from the club .

Not the start we were looking for at all, players look like they have not a clue what they're meant to be doing. There's no movement off the ball, no patterns of play, not even a hint of a distinct style.

We should be well on the way to having all this but it's still miles away. Can't be easy coming in to a squad who were drilled hard into a specific style of play, but it's his job to get it done so no excuses.

Would much rather the support got behind him and the players rather than booing and all that, but understand it's frustrating. Only thing is, the dummy spitting is only gonna make it harder to progress, so it's basically punching yourself in the face.

A few quality signings and a wee spark from somewhere against the huns next week and hopefully we start kicking on.

Knutsen was firmly my first choice. Guy clearly gets players to overperform. But if he's firmly faithful to Bodo, then...Glasner? it's a shame we don't go for hired managers. I'd kill for Ranieri, Moyes...

    Any manager of Celtic must:
    - be flexible in terms of both formation and style and adapt to the circumstances of playing both in Scotland and in Europe
    - have a logical mind that doesn't allow personal tactical preferences to completely overtake his reasoning
    - be capable of identifying what kind of players he needs

We had a few patterns come out imo. A good few created enough wide open chances for matt to win us the league let alone they game.... however we really need to just * take a short corner until our teams bigger than child. That was * useless.

Even kyogo had enough easy chances to win the next 3 games and missed them all. Its a confidence thing right now. Once it clicks, like it did with ange when loosing against Aberdeen then we will kick on full steam ahead.

Aye to be fair the first half hour I was thinking we're playing some nice stuff, just needed the goal to kick on. But it didn't come and we ended up panicky as * the longer it went on.

Most frustrating thing ever watching us pass the ball about and no one is moving into space to take the ball. That movement off the ball is the single most vital thing we're lacking the now, you'd imagine Rodgers is working with them on that but the players themselves don't look like it's even in their vocabulary.

The confidence thing you mention is bang on. It ain't there just now and it's something they need to find sharpish. A big performance next week would do it.

Agreed. I don't know if that's a tactic because calmac, instead of being open for the pass in the middle to turn and drive the team on just jogs around shouting and poiting to pass to the other defender.. *. Shows how much hattate is missing. Shows for the ball and always turns, and continues the play going forward after beating a man leaving gaps everywhere. Nobody else seems to have the balls to risk it just now.

Aye Hatate, hot and cold as he's been so far this season, is a big loss the now. Question marks for me over his commitment but by * he'd make a huge difference regardless.

McGregor better get his finger out man, ridiculous how poor he's been.

We are in massive bother this season I think. Half the fans are absolutely desperate to see Rodgers fail I think, and every single wayward or negative pass is being booed by a large section of the support. It was toxic yesterday. It’s got the Covid season written all over it.

It’s clear as day Ange is streets ahead of Rodgers in every department, especially man management. The fire in the team is gone, which I know can happen but I don’t think it’s a coincidence it’s happened when Rodgers has walked in.

Talking of needing more quality against a injury ridden St.Johnstone is * riddy, thought we were long past struggling to beat teams in a low block. If he doesn’t get a result next week this will get toxic very quickly.

It made total sense for me. I didn't give a * about him having a stint there..

It would've been a continuation of everything we'd been doing the last couple of years..

Rodgers returning as manager was no more than an ego trip for Desmond.

I don't think Rodgers was ready to come back into management, to be honest. He genuinely looks like he doesn't want to be here. I think this has been a favour to his pal Desmond. Also, the fact he will get getting £4m a year in wages for 3 years.

He only moved on from Leicester in February was it? He had less than 4 months out of work. That's not enough time to get the itch back, to miss everything about your everyday life as a manager when you have been constantly in work for 15 years with a 5 month lay off between leaving Liverpool and joining Celtic. He was probably still enjoying the free time with his family. This was meant to be as safe as an appointment as you could get. We all thought that a coach of Rodgers quality coming in, working with the excellent young players we have in our team AND having a substantial budget to spend on specific positions that would take us to the next level was a match made in heaven. With Board, Recruitment and Staff all pulling in the same direction. It's already as toxic as you could possibly get and we are 5 games into our season.

The fans choice was Knutsen. The majority wanted him because of the success he had shown over in Norway and the huge wins they had achieved in Europe(as well as seeing his side outthink, outrun and outplay us). I supported the appointment of Rodgers, although I wanted Knutsen. This is why we need to have a list of potential managers that are able to continue on with the style of heavy metal football Ange delivered. We need to have a clear direction of how we play our football and everything else is brought in to continue that on. Non stop, relentless, attacking football. Think Knusten, Corberan from WBA, Muscat(couldn't give a * that he played for them)... all guys who were available for us to pick up and continue this style of play that brought us so much joy.

I think it was Shelby who said in another thread, you put Starfelt, Mooy and Jota back into that team and who, out of the new signings, plays games? Yang maybe gets in ahead of Abada. Maybe. The others are squad fillers. That's fine when you don't have an already bloated squad of guys taking £130k a week out of the club that we never * use. I mentioned it in another thread, we could get rid of 13/14 players, who are probably earning £130k a week combined and replace them with 5 players on £25k a week and we would be a far better team for it. We need this squad trimmed and we need to utilise the money far * better.

I remember when Rodgers first came in during the summer of 2016. He mentioned he liked to work with a slightly smaller squad, prioritising quality over quantity. I think he mentioned a squad of about 23 players, topped up with youth. We are so far away from that right now it's * scary.

How many signings this window so far can be classed as a Rodgers signing? Don’t see any.

I think we'll be fine. Always gonna be a transition period when a beloved gaffer leaves(for players and fans)

We have lost very important players. Jota, Mooy, Starfelt
Lot's of injuries to our best players, Hetate, CCV, Johnson just back.

That game yesterday should have been tied up by half time. Problem is when things arent perfect (players out, player departures) the pressure builds.

I know we should be beating a rotten St J but what can you do when players don't put the ball in the net?
