This transfer window has been disappointing because it has not strengthened us to push on in Europe, so in that sense Rodger's has been let down because we have no big name signings. None of that excuses the turgid * we've been playing.

Set pieces I think always come down to do you have * desperate to head a ball, you can't really train it and it doesn't matter who is taking your corners.

You need mad * dying to header it into the next who are prepared to run and attack it every chance they get knowing they might get punched off a keeper or headered off another *.

Theres very few guys like that about.

Set pieces make up something like 25% of goals over a season im sure I read before :giggle1:

I've never seen a side as * as us at corners..

In total maybe, short freekicks and whatever, corners I think actually don't lead to goals that often. Is it not like only 1 in 80 corners end up a goal or something.

Aye I don't think I've ever seen a side as abysmal at Corners/free kicks as Celtic.

Not even just a Rodgers issue, was the exact same under Ange and Lennon.

The last time we were threatening from corners/set pieces was when Boyata was here.

Was probably this thing here I remember. Actually on average 1 out of 79 corners end in a goal.

    For us it's probably about 1 in 200 :90:

    11234 matches analysed
    115199 corners played
    30812 goals scored
    1459 goals came from corners
57,3% of corners lead to nothing (team loses the ball)
26.0% of corners are not crosses (short pass)
15,4% of corners lead to chance creation
8.25% chances created from corners lead to goal
    4,74% goals scored from corners
1,27% of corners lead to goal

15.4 matches to wait for a goal from corner (for a single team to score)
5.13 corners per match (for a single team)

And a controversial conclusion after all: The more the team scores from corners, the greater the chances for this team to be relegated

With Nawrocki fit alongside Lagerbielke now and again I'd expect more goals from corners.

I'd be wanting Johnston flung in there too.

It doesn't help we have a small side middle to front tbf.

I'd say last time was when big Jullien was a mainstay. Was a massive threat..

    Batata definitely before that..

They had to punt him !! He was dragging the club down and blaming everyone around him.
I was shocked when Celtic took him back !!

So far, his return has been an anti-climax.

Despite the wins, the performances in the first two matches were also poor.

We still have the best squad in the league and even with our multiple injury issues, the team we put out yesterday should be winning that match. I know Rodgers can’t account for O’Riley missing chances he should be burying but I’m really concerned at how well Killie and Saints were able to shut us out.

Not sure if Rodgers’ ideas aren’t getting across to the squad clearly enough or his tactics just aren’t right for the players we have. We know he likes to keep his instructions for players simple, so I lean towards his tactics being the problem. Either way our chance creation is down considerably.

He needs a solution as soon as yesterday. There is no honeymoon period for Rodgers, he’s been here and done it all. Any leeway or trust he would normally have been afforded during a second spell departed with him when he left mid-season for Leicester.

    Knutsen yes good call.

Agree Muscat a lunatic and I'll never forgive he ended the career of a promising young Aussie player for my home team ( Adrian Zahra ) with a horrendous tackle- surpised eh- but the nutcase was recommended by Ange to take over at Yokohama, then won the J League with them and is top of the table again. Might have been a smoother handover.

Anyway hope it clicks for Rodgers.

The boss is aware of the links to both the SPFL champions and Dutch giants Ajax and said it was "very little fun" to be in the mix.

He said: "Nice to be mentioned and very little fun to answer what you are speculating about.

"I am a coach in Glimt, incredibly proud of it and working in that team and with that group of players.

That’s my focus, and it's going to be hard to respond to speculation, because that's really what it is."

Knutsen was never coming to us and it doesn’t sound like we even got in touch with him.

Knutsen, that Man City coach and even Kevin * Muscat were all better choices than Rodgers. Muscat the * of a player is not Muscat the surprisingly calm and level headed manager.

What gave you that idea mate:fear:?

its extremely sour just now. We really need something to galvanise both the support and our players. Right now we can only do that with a signing that will generate a buzz and an impact on the pitch. We need It desperately

For any other club Muscat would be the sensible option that’s proven to be able to build on his former bosses successes.

    HOWEVER

He’s * Kevin Muscat. It’d never have worked or been accepted here and would be a hiding to more division than Rodgers coming back would ever make.

    * played 20 odd games for them a think. But he was a dirty bastarding * and we hate him. Thats the way the divide in Glasgow goes
