Anyone giving it the "Ange was * in his first few games" patter can * off, he inherited a team after the worst season in about 15 years, Rogers inherited a team that was playing great football and scoring for fun.

The regression this quick is * depressing.

A team that has 20 corners in a game and doesn't create a single chance from any of them, doesn't deserve to win games of football..

This team has no identity now. There isn't a clear style of play you can see or spot that we're trying to play..

Brendan Rodgers has accepted the furious Green Brigade reaction after Celtic's goalless draw at home to St Johnstone.

The Hoops dominated their opponents at Parkhead but were unable to break them down to score what would ultimately have proven to be the winning goal. Rodgers wasn't happy and acknowledged that his side did not deserve the victory but it was at full-time when the boss urged his players to walk towards the fanbase for a lap of honour as an apology for their failure to win.

The raucous Green Brigade were livid with the showing and showed their own disdain towards Rodgers and his squad. But the Northern Irishman admitted he "totally understands" the anger

Speaking on BBC Sportsound he said: "I totally understand it. When you play to that performance level and get a result at home against any team, you're playing a team with the greatest respect that haven't won many games and have conceded goals, to not score or get three points is clearly not what we want or the supporters expect.

You play or manage a club like this here you have to have that personality to gain results. If not the flak will come your way and you have to take that and work to make it better. It's early in the season but there's lots of work to do."

Asked by Martin Dowden if his team deserved all three points he added: "No, I don't think so. There was enough effort from the players and their keeper makes a couple of really good saves but overall I didn't think we played at the tempo we'd want to or have that bit of craft you need to break down a team that's low. St Johnstone deserved something from the game for their attitude. It was a disappointing result and performance.

Exactly. @NomDePlum summed it up perfectly in a post somewhere a few days ago. There is no comparison to be made.

Don't worry though you'll get a few blaming the poor transfer window and our injuries for why we couldn't score a single goal over 180 minutes against Kilmarnock and a dreadful St Johnstone team at home.

The tactics (generous even calling it that) and style of play are killing us. That's 100% on Rodgers.

He needs to change up the system, we're playing Ange's formation without any of the urgency..

It's like a weird hybrid of systems that the players look lost in..

The injuries to our CBs are kick in the nuts as we could have went 3-4-3 or something..

    Worried. Must say.

All the chat when he first came in has disappeared. Players look disinterested.

I got pelters for saying is have preferred Maresca to Rodgers. In fact everything i said about Rodgers is coming true - it was clear his career was on a downward trajectory and his style of football was already outdated. That's not even factoring in his issues in the transfer market and character.

Cant believe we've got to this point so quickly.

Before he got sacked would be nice but for me it feels like after the Ferencvaros game, when everyone who wasn't a Lennon fanboy saw that he needs to go. It took the board another 6 months of horrible football to sack him. After the league was lost. The board is still the same. Even if the results stay the same they will not do anything to save the season. They prefer to patronise the fans.

Hopefully I'm wrong and instead of 6 months of * up the season against a terrible hun side Rodgers turns it around.

It’s not just that see when we have a corner there doesn’t seem to be any real set up or plans that are properly rehearsed it’s just the same either flung in near post or back post.

But our guys all just seem to stand around, there’s not someone hanging back trying a later run or crowding the near post and leaving space for someone to come around the back late, or even try teeing up Turnbull at the edge of the box. It’s just the same all the time thrown in to a bunch of players who look out matched.

There were plenty of good balls put in the box today but I didn’t see anyone showing real desire to get on the end of them.

Me and you both, mate. There were a few others as well in fairness that shared the same concerns as us. I was posting vehemently about why I didn't want him back and not a single thing has changed my mind so far. In fact it's even more reinforced.

Listen things could change and he could still turn it around. But I don't believe he will. We can only go on what we've seen so far and from 4 games we've had 2 pretty poor performances and 2 horrendous ones. The football has been abysmal, there are no tactics, most of the team have regressed, we look lost, his team selections are frustrating, subs even worse, the squad is a mess etc.

There's nothing at the moment to be optimistic about.

Any patience I had for him went out the window last week when he confirmed our worst fears.
None if the players are his, he's just coaching whoever the board provide.
He's in deep * if things don't go well next week.

It could all change, with a result of sorts from Ibrox and an injection of freshness in the form of additions of quality to the squad. I can't see it though.

I was all for the appointment as well, this doesn't look good at this point in time.

Not playing inverted wingbacks is killing our attack. It shows that we're missing creative output from Taylor and Johnston through the middle that allow our CM's to push forward. This is on Brendan. Our squad is weakened, but Brendan's tactics is easily countered by bang average teams in the league.

Seems this time when he leaves us the reaction will probably be europhia instead of anger.

The worst bit about it is just how all the joy and positivity has been sapped out of things.

Everything Brendan Rodgers said to the BBC.

Did you deserve the win today?

No, no, I don't think so. I think there was enough effort put in from the players, but obviously, the keeper makes a couple of really good saves. But overall, I didn't think we played at the tempo that we would want to in the speed of the game. And then you need a little bit of craft to break down a team that's low. I think St Johnstone deserved something from the game in terms of their attitude. For us, we lacked a number of things that you need to win a game. So, a disappointing result and performance.

Why do you think that performance came, obviously off the back of going out the cup last week as well?

There are a number of things that we're working on that we need to be better in but certainly the tempo of the game was too slow and breaking through into areas with a bit more quality. Like I said, we had chances. We arrived in good spaces but we have to show that little bit more imagination, that bit more quality to penetrate. And sadly, we weren't able to do that.

We know you're obviously hampered with injuries at the moment. That's a fact. Is that playing a part in the process of you trying to tinker with the way the side play compared to last season?

No, listen, no. It's nothing to do with the way the team's playing. How we arrive into the final third of the pitch or into their half it is exactly the same. They've got the width and the game. They get the numbers on the inside and they come up in behind it, so in terms of message, in the opposition’s half, there’s no difference in the message. It's sometimes what happens after you win a Treble. You know, it. It can happen. You put such a big effort into last season, then you come into this season. There's a greater expectation, opponents will always up their game against you so, but it's my job to find the solutions.

Are they carrying out exactly what you want them to do?

We spoke about that at half time that you have to really go and attack the box. And making sure you're there to attack it. But that's that's something that will come.

I think it's fair to say there was a bit of a negative reaction overall, and specifically one over in the corner where the Green Brigade are. What's your reaction to that?

No, I totally understand it. I think when you play to that performance level and you get a result at home against any team but you're playing against a team, with the greatest respect, that hasn't won so many games and conceded goals to then not score and not get the three points it's clearly not what we want and it's not what the supporters expect. So, I totally understand that. You have to get results at this club, if not then the flack will come your way, so we have to take that. But we have to continue working to make it better. It’s still very early in the season. But you can clearly see there's a lot of work to do.

What do you need to do to get a result against Rangers?

Everything. We'll work again in the week. I think from today, we'll go away and analyze the game and look at the areas where we can be better. And then, like I said, we'll take that into a good week's training and then we'll go fully ready and committed for next weekend.

And I think you've alluded to already that you expect a a fairly busy week in terms of ends and possibly outs as well?

Possibly. We certainly need to improve this squad. That for sure. So hopefully we can do that.
