Don't think we can say how successful any window is, until it closes and the players signed have a chance to perform..

It has been underwhelming tho, no doubt..

Wondering on the GK front whether we have a long term target that's likely to become available in January?

Realise that means we are going into CL with Hart but the best I can come up with as an explanation :39:

I don't think that would be acceptable tbh, it's clear that Hart is in decline, to wait until January to do something about it would be criminal and very costly.

Problem with Hart is he will cost us Domestically, let alone in Europe.

GK needs to be brought in.

Going with Hart as our number 1 would be suicidal. He’s completely done.

Not saying it's acceptable, just looking for some logic somewhere that might explain the situation.

I think one of the things revealed by the window is that the board's attitude to transfers has not changed in any significant way.

There was a feeling with the way that transfers were conducted under Ange that we were trying to increase the level of the team through our signing policy. We tapped new markets, signed international players in their prime, and did so with clear forethought about what the team needed.

It's clear that we've returned to type. The board's strategy is to sign lads aged under 23 for a mil or two, cross their fingers and hope they'll fetch 5mil in 2 years' time. What the team needs to be successful is an afterthought and there's little concern about improving the overall level of the squad. We've lost significant players that we have not attempted to replace adequately. It's small time stuff and it really irks me.

Starting to get a little bit scunnered by the whole thing.

Really hoped that the club was going to kick on and try to become ambitious. Aim to be an Ajax or a Porto/Benfica. We just seem to be banking cash again.

Luis Palma might be a good signing. At £3.5m, after selling our star player for £27m… it just seems like we are going to continue the same risky strategy. We could easily have bought every single player we have under Delia.

Its not just about price, I completely get that but we have never been in a better position to buy players who are performing very well in similar sized leagues. We’ve all listed the players we could have and should have signed. I just feel like we have a weaker starting 11 now. With a squad packed full of further projects who COULD make it.

There has been 5 or 6 players that we could have signed between £6m-£11m over the last 2 months who would have taken us to the next level. Disappointed is an understatement.

This is exactly how I feel. I get the club is run as a business, but I'd rather we aimed at becoming a bigger business. We have the funds to reinvest in our team significantly - instead of signing a player for 1m and selling for 5m, we could sign for 8m and sell for 16m. There's just no ambition to do so.

The tragedy of it is that to stand still is to move backwards in this market. If you compare us with other big teams in weak leagues around Europe, a lot of them are growing in terms of their transfers, wages and footballs while we stand still. As we decline relative to those other clubs, so will our prestige and our ability to attract the kind of players we need to compete. It is a depressing outlook and all completely unnecessary given that we're a very profitable club with a very rich owner.

    Was saying the same today.

He's back less than 2 months and already saying the quality is poorer than when we started the window.

People saying he is narcissistic. Well, if he is, being on a hiatus of football would leave him out of the spotlight. Therefore, he had to take a job, yet nobody with loads of money really wanted him. We had to hire a new manager. So, he asked for the gig and got it. On Desmond's conditions, mostly. Stay 1-2 years, win a few pieces of silverware and you're free to go back down south, but with a timely notice. And don't complain about the biscuit tin.

McGowan. Saying only 2 more (after palma) left back and center back and will only target a goalie if seigriest leaves which backs up what painter said we haven't targeted a goalie this window, as signing a new no1 would be dependant on your no3 leaving!
