I want to see a bit of oomph from him on Friday with a swagger, licking his lips gloating at the multiple game changing signings that are coming in. Slagging the media and ripping the huns, with a wee false story thrown in for good measure..

As crazy as it is, I think a club can suffer from having too endearing of a manager as a legacy. The misplaced belief that everyone attached to that time will achieve parity in terms of progress and timeframe as the endearing individual. The question could easily be raised, who the f**k is Brendan Rodgers to a Japanese player?

It's only a feeling but I do get the feeling a lot of players were all in with ange and now Rodgers, who will have the same attitude as Ange, you either want to play for Celtic or you don't, will have to go through the process of trying to win them over without supplicating to any individual player.

Hypothetically Hatate would be a prime example of this, that Rodgers is asking to play a certain way and he isn't following instructions ergo the comments on tactics not ability.

It may take months for some players to accept that they are contracted to Celtic and doesn't necessarily mean they won't be bitter about it.

I do believe we had the exact same problem with Rodgers leaving when he did and Lennon coming in. A winner and club legend at the time being seen as a severe downgrade.

If this is the case I would float that some sort of successor clause should be included in what should be longer contracts for managers at our club and also the club should not bring managers back after a very successful spell.

There is every chance that Rodgers could overcome this and the worst of it will be over by January. Which I know isn't really an acceptable prognosis for a club like Celtic.

I do think as well Rodgers sees the best value in getting his big signings at the end of the window as that represents the best window of opportunity to maximise value, such as if Tierney coming back for a year would in my opinion be great. Of course the flaws in this strategy are very obvious, ending up with a not so marquee 3rd or 4th choice signing.

BR is a poisoned chalice.. no good will come of his return. He's in a no win position and I don't see his reasoning for coming back with absolutely no backing from the board.

Just my opinion but it's absolutely pointless bringing him back.

Judging by current transfer window brendy could be the problem in regards to recruitment with his hard on for epl players that’s a load of precious time spent so far trying to entice 2 options 1st one podence where the wages is a stumbling block then second one fraser where wages are a stumbling block just through any targets from down south in the bin unless it’s development fees now only are we getting down to sing the third option in palmas

One of the benefits of having what in many ways was a fairly rigid system with Ange, was that everybody understood exactly what they were doing within a cohesive structure that emphasised player strengths (Kyogo's movement, Taylor inverting, Jota one-on-one etc) whilst also helping to minimise weaknesses.

I imagine Rodgers has been learning that when you remove that system, the squad may not be quite as strong and talented as the success they enjoyed over the last two seasons would suggest.

I'm reasonably confident the plan is still to bring some quality in before the end of the window though, because you can't talk about making an impact in Europe and then think that this squad is ok.

My bigger concern is that there was a lot of talk about Rodgers planning to take a sabbatical from football after leaving Leicester, and this is a guy who's had a lot of success and made a * ton of money. Does he still have the hunger to compete and the drive to win everything again?

Presumably the answer is yes, he's here for all the right reasons and is determined to bring success, but I don't know, he's just seemed a bit subdued recently. Maybe he's coming to terms with this being a bigger job than he'd initially thought.

We didn't struggle to attract players the last 2 years, so what's the issue now?

We brought the Dutch top scorer, a Croatian international, an experienced international captain from a mega money situation, a highly promising young Midfielder that has EPL interest in him, former England No1 goalie amongst others (im not including the Japanese contingent as that was likely from managerial connections)

Why now are we struggling? Are we targeting the same players that are targeting the EPL exclusively? If we are we should be using our proven gateway status, we should have been leveraging that someone went to 200k a week in Saudi direct from us (not now with how that's playing out in the weird bubble of Saudi)

We should be an attractive club to come to, trophies to be won, Europe to showcase your talents and it's not like we pay entirely peanuts just not the same as your Inflated Prem wages.

See being fair Giakoumakis strung it out as long as he could to see if anyone else came or that Werder Bremen could get a deal done or he wouldn’t have been here.

Hart was ready for the bin as far as EPL were confirmed he is of the old school that actually want to play football. He would have made mega money at City and bounced about other top league clubs. He took a relatively low wage for him for the love of playing, he actually could be a useful advocate for us down there.

O’Riley I have to admit was a strange one we seemed to jump first at what was clearly a talent with a buyout clause. But is a good point.

Mooy wanted to play football and be close to his family who happened to be in Scotland. He had a personal tragedy that likely changed his view on the world.

Juranovic, is an anomaly in football playing for such a big national team but playing in Poland. A late bloomer, we need to try our best to find more of these type.

But even Jota and CCV probably fit this current approach, big clubs in bigger leagues looking to cut squad size and get wages of the books accepting late loans to buy.

Hopefully we can find 4 minimum before the window closes it is the minimum we need.

Point stands across it though, we managed to be an attractive proposition for those with the platform we can offer. Then even on those that have moved on they've gotten big moves, that's a whole catalogue of good opportunities that can come from playing at Celtic.

But 3 of those were deadline day deals so I'll still hold out we can get some big signings in before the window shuts but we were able to be that attractive proposition and put the right bits in place.

    So far this season we've signed;
A hot prospect from Norway - looks good to be a key member of the squad in early, good business

A winger from Australia - bit meh, didn't stand out as a superstar in that league but shows talent, has been signed injured though so has to wait even longer to impact and that could hold him way back.

2x Korean prospects, 1 winger that's looking good and one DM that I have no real opinion of yet but on initial looks like a weird one given we had Iwata for that role.

A young polish defender, looked a solid addition as a young up and coming defender, injured early on but that's not anything to the signing

A young Swedish defender as Starfelt's replacement, we will see, at least it was quick business and he was well regarded

None of those are big standouts that had amazing records, that's something we're missing so far, but we've had that conversation plenty on getting adequate replacements in for that and we need to see it

I am in total agreement that we need to be doing more, I mentioned it in a post the other day we need to try get the best player we possibly can attract for each position we are looking to upgrade.

I know we can’t sign everyone but I do feel in this window a number of good players who I believe we would have been attractive too have moved for very affordable fees that would have improved our team. That is football I guess. I just hope who we bring in are capable of starting for us straight away and not on the fringes.

You would have thought he would have realised from last time that his boring possession based football plays into the hands of the 10 men behind the baw teams up here. He said in his 1st press conference back he wouldn't change the style that much from Anges :39:

    * is unravelling at a fair rate of knots for him just now, he’s going to have to earn his crust over the next few weeks. Big time.

Results are required before everything as we are literally patching ourselves together.
