Club needs a marque signing. Similar to when Scot Sinclair came in for Rodgers in his first tenure. Someone with a quality and experience that will hit the ground running and make an impact straight away.

This is very true, tried to use our depth in the league and was found very wanting.

So its hardly surprising that when Hatate, CCV, Johnston, Jota, Starfelt and Mooy are not in a squad away to an in form Kilmarnock team, we come up short.

It happened end of last year when we played a weakened side under Postecoglou.

Some replacements were in the team obviously but it's early doors with partnerships not formed etc.

I agree - context needed for Sunday. It's about how we react now in the next two games and navigate ins/outs over the next 9 days.

I'd hate to think we are hoovering over the trigger with Merlin because we really want KT.

But in doing so losing out on KT and being too late for Merlin, and going with what we have got because KT will come up again in January

Rodgers banging on about developing players is all well and good, but we gotta spend the money, there's no getting away from it, regardless of his ability as a coach.

Can’t develop natural physicality / athleticism though which is what this team badly need.

We are a very very small/lightweight team going to get bullied in Europe again this year.

Mind boggling that Rodgers hasn’t really addressed this issue yet.

I must confess that I am so sickened by our lack of decisive action in 2012 that if I had the money I would sue Celtic and Lawwell for failing in their fiduciary duties to shareholders and allowing the fans to be shafted.

    I hate them for that.

I hate establishment Scotland. Anti Catholic bigoted trash establishment Scotland.

This country is a bigoted backwater akin to Northern Ireland minus the bullets and bombs.

Both clubs from Ibrox are the lower class outlet of their supremacist views.

Celtic are now only a concept to me. Our vehicle at that level to sock it right to the bigoted * majority in this cesspit.

I am consumed by the goal of crushing them and silencing them. The people that run Celtic don’t. * them. It’s my shirt, not theirs. We have to win at everything, everything. Even if it’s tiddlywinks I want them crushed by us, the uppity Fenians!

We have been too arrogant, yet again, this summer. The shock of losing the Australian tart really upset me. Rodgers I thought was the obvious replacement, but he needed proper backing and needed it before now. I’m fed up looking at a team of lightweight Smurfs when we know we are up against brute force and cheating refs.

We need a proper hard man in midfield who can throw it about and play. It’s so * obvious it’s painful. It’s negligent and it’s sheer arrogance that we haven’t gone out and burst the bank to get such a player.

I think the two defenders will work out well, but no more projects are required.

No point sourcing another winger when we don’t have the strength in the midfield to get it to them.

We are the biggest club in this shitehole, we have the biggest budget and, given the criminal capitulation and loss of 10 and various other glaring acts of folly, we should make our mark early in every transfer window to shut folks up and bed the guys into the team.

My last hero was Larsson, the rest are just boys doing a job, but they should be sent out to run themselves into the ground for us whilst doing their job.

I hate Peter Lawwell. A smug, arrogant preening *. He robbed me of 10, he let cheating go unpunished when he could have crushed and cleaned out the SFA and SFL at the time. How * dare he sit at the top table at Celtic Park. How * dare he.

If we don’t strengthen the team with proper players, not namby pamby midget projects then we are in big trouble this season.

Get the * finger out Celtic board, you arrogant smug *.

Most managers who prefer possession football will not prioritize height and strength.

Thank * we don't need to play European qualifiers this season, it could've ended up being Maribor all over again.

Hate to be on board the negative train, but this transfer window is already a failure in my eyes with us crashing out the LC. Our Jota replacement should've been in at the end of July, still nowhere to be seen. This window can be less of a failure if we sign a player or two who could do a job in Europe, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Think there's been an over reliance that BR will improve everyone quickly. Clearly the hierarchy have bought in to that. A little too much.

The model of buying projects is over utilised as well. Just look at our DMF options over the years. Big Vic left then what. Kouassi, Soro, Abilgaard, Iwata and Kwon. Not writing Iwata or Kwon off yet, but the juries out.

How much were all they combined fees on wages and transfer fee, sign on fees. Our one solid option there was McGinn, who both he and Petrie schooled Lawell in. We should have been proactive in that and paid the money like we paid for Brooney. That transfer paid for itself and worth every penny.

Unless we're all wrong, and stuff is turning away nicely in the background. But more often than not, we're slow, reactive and Conservative in our dealings. Folk will point to the the ruinous situation the DOB find themselves in, and I'm not advocating spending everything we have, but there's a time for project and a time to buy quality. There's a middle ground.

We have the resources and we as fans know where these talent pools are.

Just scunnered that the club don't see these things.

I’d say athleticism / physicality is essential for any modern manager regardless of their style of play.

Just have to look at the likes of City. PSV last night another example, two monsters in midfield playing possession based football.

Mark my words, we will get run over the top of in Europe this year. McGregor Hatate Holm O’Riley… they’ll all put a shift in but none are particularly quick or strong.

Our 2 best CBs are just feet 6ft. Full backs tiny. Rest of the team tiny.

Nah, people like Rodri are rare. Ange focused on pace over physical strength, and he's considered quite modern. If we wanted a physical team, we should have clamored not for a modern, attack-minded manager, but for a cynical, defensive one. But we never went for the likes of Moyes.

Maybe if I start a "this summer isn't crucial at all tbh" thread it might flip the universe and we sign some *.
