Rodgers was impressed by Celtic’s scouting and capture of Johnston, and he feels the MLS is a market that could well be explored more to unearth some hidden gems.

The Northern Irishman knows all too well the struggles of competing in England with mega-money flying around, but he believes Celtic are exploring in the right markets.

The only thing I can think of in Rodgers defence is if the recruitment team has tried continuing with the Project route throughout July/August and Rodgers has said no.

Hyeok, Jun, Holm, Tilio and even Nawrocki/Lagerbielke are projects, just slightly more experienced. I could see why Rodgers would maybe not be so keen on continuing that.

 

Not filling me with confidence how he’s saying he’ll work with what the club give him to make them be the best they possibly can be…. Would rather see him say he’s looking at targets that he thinks will improve the team since he’s the one with the players everyday surely he should be the one who knows who is needed to play how he wants not just pick of the litter from a bunch the recruitment team pick. To go from a few months ago when we were all focused on getting a top class RW to replace Abada so we'd have Jota and an improved RW starting, to Maeda and Abada being first choice is so, so depressing. Also, not only have we not improved midfield like we thought we needed to, we now have a want-away Hatate and have lost Mooy.

Rodgers has changed his tune too from having a few positions we know we need to improve to working with the players we've got. Grim.
